Its incredible that this is so good as it is.
14:58 Penny Benjamin is mentioned twice in the original Top Gun movie. First, Goose mentions the Admiral daughter (Penny) in the scene they were getting chewed out for the first tower fly by. The second time was when Meg Ryan character reminds Maverick about "time you went ballistic with Penny Benjamin".
It was after going for Cougar and the list for being put in hack over flybys including one Admiral's Daughter. (Who from the choice to play her, we know was a preteen at the time)
There are so many little factoids about this movie. The character Penny was not in the original, but was referenced a few times. She was the Admiral’s daughter that Maverick took for a joy ride in a jet. They reference back to this when Maverick mentions he got in trouble with another Admiral at her bar. Also the Easter egg with Jennifer Connelly; when you first see her as Penny, pay attention to the song playing in the background. It is Let’s Dance by David Bowie, a homage to the Goblin King himself in Labyrinth starring 14 year old Connelly. For Val Kilmer they pulled in his actual battle with throat cancer, which I love that they did. He can’t speak anymore so they digitally added his voice for the few lines he performed. Also Tom fought tooth and nail to have him in the movie. The scenes of the actors in the jets is amazing! This is because most of them are actually flying in said jets. The actors are in the back seat, while the Navy pilots perform the stunts up front. Just look at their faces when experiencing those types of G-forces, you can’t fake that. What is great about this is that the actors have to direct themselves in this instance. They have half a dozen cameras on them and they have to memorize which ones to look at during their scenes all while dealing with the G-forces and sudden maneuvers. They went through an extensive training routine well before the first shot to get them acclimated to the G-forces and loss of spatial awareness they would experience. I highly recommend watching the making of, it’s amazing what these actors had to train for. Now for the “normal plane” at the end, this made me giggle. That is a P-51 Mustang. Probably the most famous airplane to come out of WWII. Any aviation nut would droll to own one (but have a heart attack from the maintenance and operation costs). Oh, and it is Tom Cruise’s personal mustang he owns.
Tom Cruise didn't just fight tooth and nail to get Val Kilmer in this movie. He was 100% willing to scrap the movie if he couldn't or wouldn't reprise his role.
@@MzQTMcHotnessVery nice. I can only imagine how much fun you guys had. There's nothing better than hard work, with great people, while being creative/doing what you love. That movie is/was a real gift to the world too. It's going to hold up 100 years from now, and beyond... 💚
I so agree with the crowd aspect. When one of the enemy planes pulled a slick move the whole theater around me went “Ohhhh!” You really get a unique experience when watching with a crowd.
The DarkStar was a supersonic project that the movie producers asked Lockheed Martin to mock-up. When Maverick hit Mach 10 he was cruising at about 110,000 feet, I think. There are birds that have evolved to fly over the Himalayan mountains in Nepal and Tibet but that is still below 30,000 feet.
The movie studio went to Lockheed Martin asking "Can you mock up something that looks futuristic yet reachable in our day and age?" And the LM folks just reached into the bottom of their desk drawer and plopped a wrinkled 10-year old sales brochure in front of the movie guys.
The "Foxtrot" mentioned when they were assigning positions for the mission refers to the type of plane they are in. There are two models of F-18 being flown in this. The E model has one seat and is the plane Maverick and Rooster flew. The F model is the two seater the others were in.
I don't think Rooster was angry at Mav because of what happened to Goose, I think all his anger at him came from the fact that he pulled his military papers, and held him back four years.
This is such a specific and nerdy thing but I truly believe the mission sequence in this movie is the best edited action sequence of all time. The editor is called Eddie Hamilton and he's a genius. The way he manages to balance all 6 characters over 3 planes and we never loose track of them, we constantly can follow exactly what's going on no matter how chaotic it gets, emphasises the big air punching moments perfectly and CONSTANTLY ramps up the tension for the entire sequence. It's seriously impressive. The moment when it's all cutting faster and faster between their faces panicking as dog fighting is picking up towards the end and then suddenly cuts to a huge birds eye view of the entire fight and the missiles flying between them, gives me chills every damn time. I know it's not something most people think about while watching movies but it's worth watching that scene again with the editing in mind.
couldnt agree more. the movie is a 10 in my books. no movie is perfect but as a sum of all the understated parts, some of which you describe, it adds up to a 10 movie. sometimes you gotta throw the score card away and call it what it is
Hold my Hand is such a great song! And I love that they use the theme throughout the movie. It has a grand yet free feel to it, which is perfect for this kind of movie. I'm kinda shocked you don't like it 😅
"Do some of that pilot shit" is exactly what Goose told Maverick in the first movie. I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie, those of us older than you waited 30 years for it!!
@@JGCommentsI love this movie 😍 - but I honestly think I’ve never seen an American action movie (with any kind of slight relation to military, politics or justice) that wasn’t unbelievably over the top patriotic 😄
This love interest was brought up in the first movie... when he buzzes the tower at the beginning... they state he was in trouble for being with an admirals daughter... that's her. Yes, lots of great throw backs... Great reaction
There's a reason the in plane shots look super realistic.....they're real in plane shots. Also, my favorite callback is Rooster saying "C'mon Mav, do some of that pilot shit." Goose had that line in the original.
Probably one of the best sequels ever made. Not only as good as the original, but even elevated the material and surprised the audience at every turn, while still paying respect. 👏🏾 🥲
The in-flight sequences are mostly real, as Tom Cruise has pilot licenses for multiple planes, bikes, etc. The classic Mustang fighter shown in the film, is Tom Cruises own plane which he flies for pleasure. Fun fact : Jennifer Connelly is afraid of flying, so Tom Cruise took her up in his classic Mustang, to help her overcome her fear.
Yeah in an interview Tom explains the scene with the mustang taxing Tom asks Jennifer "You arent still afraid of flying are you?" that was the only notice she got before they took off because Tom knew if she knew beforehand she wouldn't have even gotten in the plane.
Talk about an incredibly successful and refreshing spin on the original story. Maverick was stunning to see, especially with how the filmed the flight scenes #GoNavy!
They did a good job of remaking this one. A lot of remakes/sequels don't properly capture the feeling of the original because they feel they need to outdo themselves. This one they just took the same formula, almost point for point in places, kept the occasional campy aspects of it, and just updated the technology and effects. Do that, toss in some fan service easter egg type stuff, and you're golden.
It was only after watching Pitch Meetings that I realised this is Star Wars 😂 "So Maverick and the gang have to fly down this narrow trench to hit a small exhaust port target..." "Are they doing a Star Wars?" "No, so anyway the young pilot hasn't got his targeting laser so has to do it blind, and Maverick his old mentor tells him to just feel his way and let go... and he hits the target and blows it up" "THEY ARE DOING A STAR WARS!" 😂
Key to making the flight shots so realistic is the fact that Tom flies jet fighters for a hobby. He owns an L39 Albatros jet and flies the heck out of it. So he is the perfect actor to play a fighter pilot. He knows the feeling and the skills to endure hi G flight manoeuvres.
I randomly watched this on a plane because I had a tight 2 hours to fill and had no expectations (never saw the original). I absolutely ADORED this movie, it felt like such a classic "bringing a motley crew together as a team" style story that I haven't seen in a while and didn't know I missed.
Luke only had to hit the box once, Mav and Rooster had to hit it twice. It's reminiscent of the nuke reactor raid. 1st element had to make a hole in the reactor roof, the rest had to toss their bombs through the hole into the interior reactor building.
The Fighter Pilot Podcast has some great episodes about the behind the scenes of flying the jets in Maverick and the first Top Gun. Also general commentary about the movies from the point of view of fighter pilots and actual Top Gun instructors
This movie is SOOO good. It’s crazy. It really is the perfect sequel. I went in right after watching the first Top Gun and wasn’t sure what to expect ‘cause I wasn’t crazy about the first one. Well, Top Gun: Maverick not only blew me away and made me tear up a bunch. It actually made me appreciate and like the first one even more. It’s insane.
19:35, hey Nat! The plane scenes from both in and out of the cockpit look so real because they are real! Many of the scenes, like the original, used real aerial photography with real fighters. In this movie, the actors are really in the cockpits of fighter jets and filming these scenes in the air. They’re just in the WSO seat of a two seater plane and using film techniques to make it look like they’re the pilots.
So what's even more hilarious about Maverick doing the demonstration mission, is that he didn't have a backseater handling weapons/targeting. He had to do everything from flying to targeting.
The great thing of this movie is that every scene inside of a plane, was actually filmed in a real fighter jet while a real military pilot was piloting it. Oh and in the final scene, it’s a WW2 fighter plane, and that was really actually Tom Cruise piloting it
I'm sure that is pretty debatable. I personally agree, but I went with my stepfather who loved the first one and said he still liked the original better.
It's basically just a remake of the first one with the Star Wars trench run tacked on at the end. It's a great nostalgia film and a really fun movie, but "better than the first" is a significant stretch.
To be fair, I don’t think we can compare, just because of the times they were made in. I feel like if we consider them based on the era, they are pretty much exactly same, and equally epic!
That "normal plane" is a P-51 Mustang, one of the most iconic fighters planes of all time and pivotal in turning the tide against the Luftwaffe in the air battles of WWII. It has a maximum speed of 440 MPH and is capable of 8 G maneuvers, so I wouldn't get too cocky if I were you. 😂
After watching the VAL documentary it made his appearance in this movie 10x more hart braking. his battle with cancer made me cray and watching him come back despite the cancer was beautiful.
I've read that when Tom Cruise was approached about doing this sequel, he had one condition: bring back Val Kilmer or I'm not doing it. And that was after everything Val's been through, Tom knew exactly what was up. I have mixed opinions on Tom as a person off-screen, but that earns some respect in my book.
The actors and reactions are real, but all of the shots inside and outside of the jets had a ton of visual effects. Most of the jets and interiors themselves where CG
@@jobuscuswafer1716Why on earth are they going to replace interior and exterior shots with CGI when the whole idea was to shoot the actors in the real jets .....in the air?

So so so excited to experience this reaction with you!! I think this is another sequel that far surpasses the original. I commented on this on CinemaWins, I love how Phoenix remains just another pilot the whole time. A competent, confident pilot who is good enough to make the final mission. I completely agree about Phoenix and her representation in the movie; she’s not a representative hire, just a greatly written character, a badass and has some good humor along with it. Absolutely nailed it
A good friend at my church was one of the Navy Pilots who flew the planes for the first Top Gun! It's awesome talking to him about how everything went down, and we went with him to a showing of the film and he had a ton of awesome insights after the film!
In military aviation they have something called “time to death”, basically it’s a formula that takes into account for altitude, speed, and reaction time. So, the closer to the ground and faster; less time to death. Higher and slower; more time to fix issues or eject to safety
regarding the "Foxtrot" teams. The F-18 has several different versions. However the relevant versions from this movie are the F-18E and F-18F. The E model is the single seat version, and the F model (Foxtrot) is the 2-seater. version and has the targeting pod so they can lase the target for the E-model single seat plane carrying the bomb
I love Star Trek. It’s not for general audiences. The old ones are too philosophical, with at times very slowly paced. New ones… just suck. I can’t imagine a TNG series doing well. Best you can hope for is for her to react to one of the movies. If that’s the case, ST Beyond is your best bet.
The first time I watched this, I didn't notice that the mission is litterally the Death Star trench run. It's nice seeing a new interpretation of a classic.
@@thatHARVguy Which was... a rerun of the account the Red Baron described in his autobiography where he flew through a French village in a thunderstorm?
7:45 they kept the country vague, but it's most likely meant to be iran; the US Navy and the Iranian Air Force were the only two operators of the F-14 tomcat. They flew it in their war against Iraq in the 80s, and thanks to this the most successful tomcat ace was Iranian
Eso se da a entender, pues Irán es el único usuario de F-14, y además las montañas nevadas también dicen algo. Irán es un país muy montañoso con picos nevados.
Fun fact, Maverick and Rooster stealing the plane is based on a true event! It was Bob Hoover who stole an enemy German plane when escaping as a POW and he made it out.
Maverick demonstration under 2:15 is even more impressive for the fact that he had to keep aiming at the box while ascending and taking the 9 Gs. For the mission and training it's the 2nd plane that aims for you
Things Maverick forgot to do 1. arm the ejector seats, pull the pins, turn the switch on top of his ejection switch, tell Rooster to do the same. 2. before take off, lower the flaps to take off position for more lift. 3. after he sees the altimeter start going up, raise the wheels. Normally that would be the RIO's job to give the pilot a verbal cue to raise the gear,, but let's let it slide cus Rooster does not know that
i mean i dont think theres a reasonable expectation of realism when it comes to the actual flying. theres multiple pilots react videos where they playfully point out these things (and some that are actually real) ultimately everyone seems to universally agree to let it slide into willful suspension of disbelief and enjoy the ride. never let the truth get in the way of a good story
Foxtrot, NATO phonetic alphabet for F, means the two person planes, because the 2 seat version is the F/A-18F. The one seat version ends in E, which in phonetic alphabet is Echo. If you have a couple of hours, there's a great series of videos from a couple of aviators, Mover and Gonky (see, real callsigns are a lot less cool than in the movies) that go over this movie and while they call a lot of Hollywood stuff out, they make it clear they love it. Oh, and no one is sure of this, but the fact that they never pulled the pins to arm the ejector seats might be intentional. Or it was a coincidence and they just meant it was a malfunction.
Ward, Bio and Crunch also did segments on the movies (Final Countdown, TopGun 1&2) Bio and Crunch did a full series on the F-14 from creation to retirement and the men and women who flew and mentained her
My favorite thing about this movie will always be the fact that Tom Cruise was willing to scrap the whole thing if Val Kilmer couldn't or wouldn't reprise his role as Iceman. That's the level of respect he had for the character and stories that the two of them had made together. He would have had no way of knowing that he'd be scrapping his first billion dollar movie, but he would have all the same. This movie NEEDED Iceman, and Maverick NEEDED Iceman, and Tom Cruise knew it.
There are two models of the F-18, the "E" version, the one-seater that Maverick and Rooster fly, and the "F" version, the two-seater with the rear-seat WSO (weapon systems officer) using the laser bombsight that Payback/Fanboy and Phoenix/Bob fly. In military parlance, "F" is "Foxtrot," that's what is meant when Maverick picks his "Foxtrot" teams.
Hi Nat. Big fan! Also a navy vet. I’m sure you’ll get people saying so- 2:45 Mach is a measure of speed. Mach Speed is when an object moves faster than the speed of sound. For normal, dry conditions and temperature of 68°F, this is 768 mph. Most navy and airforce craft nowadays can absolutely reach a Mach speed.
I loved the way they shot the in plane stuff for this. Getting the cast in the rear seats of actual F-18's and having them thrown around works amazingly well but also not an easy undertaking for the cast. They had to be physically fit to deal with the forces being put on their body and be able to still do their job and do that acting stuff. Worth it though. Imo those sequences are some of the best air combat sequences we've ever got.
I believe we do hear Goose's responses through the actors who speaks next dialogue, which always gives me the feels. It not lost on me when Rooster says "talk to me Dad" and Maverick responds "Come on kid." Or on the reply to Maverick is "You are where you belong."

The fact that Amelia's father is in Hawaii strongly implies that her father is also a career Navy man, so Penny most definitely has a type...
Thank you for this comment, as a Top Gun BTS nerd I needed this for Natalie to read but it would take forever for me to type out lolol
I had the pleasure to work on Maverick!!! It was truly a wonderful experience.
That's awesome! What did you do?

@@MzQTMcHotnessAnd did you see Tom Cruise naked?
@@MzQTMcHotnessVery nice. I can only imagine how much fun you guys had. There's nothing better than hard work, with great people, while being creative/doing what you love. That movie is/was a real gift to the world too. It's going to hold up 100 years from now, and beyond... 💚

This was the first movie I went to see twice since End Game. It was such a ride seeing it with a huge crowd. Just a perfect summer blockbuster.
Only twice?
I so agree with the crowd aspect. When one of the enemy planes pulled a slick move the whole theater around me went “Ohhhh!” You really get a unique experience when watching with a crowd.
Natalie: "Oh, good, they're just in a normal plane."
Me: "The P-51 Mustang is ANYTHING BUT NORMAL!!!"
Even better, is that is Tom Cruises' personal P-51
_Grumbles in P-38..._
I'm mostly annoyed they put Maverick in an _Army Air Corps_ warbird, and not a naval aircraft.
ME-109 clan represent!
no big deal lol normal plane
This is hands down one of the best sequels ever made, and the fact that the original is 36 years prior is just mind blowing.
The movie studio went to Lockheed Martin asking "Can you mock up something that looks futuristic yet reachable in our day and age?"
And the LM folks just reached into the bottom of their desk drawer and plopped a wrinkled 10-year old sales brochure in front of the movie guys.
The "Foxtrot" mentioned when they were assigning positions for the mission refers to the type of plane they are in. There are two models of F-18 being flown in this. The E model has one seat and is the plane Maverick and Rooster flew. The F model is the two seater the others were in.
👍 Was about to say the same.
I'm kinda shocked you don't like it 😅
This is such a flawless film for me, saw it 3 times in theaters and it was incredible every single time
"Do some of that pilot shit" is exactly what Goose told Maverick in the first movie. I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie, those of us older than you waited 30 years for it!!
Hangman changes the music to “Slow Ride” at 8:38 because he’s constantly bagging on Rooster for being too slow lol
This movie was unbelievably awesome. No other words.
This is a top 5 movie of all-time for me. The action, the story, the visuals, the sound. Everything about this movie just hits the mark for me.
And I love the fact that they were clear that they did not want to jam an ideology down your throat, we just want to entertain you.

@@otter011 hehe of course not, that’s what we do over here!
Skipped over: one of the funniest lines: '- Earth.'
Skipped over a lot unfortunately.
She yaps too much.
No requirement to listen in, so the extent of her 'yapping' is moot.
If you just want to watch the movie alone, you can.
Reactors/Editors have a big decisions on what to cut and what to leave in for both Copyright and TIME........
The in-flight sequences being real had nothing to do with Tom Cruise's pilot license, as he was not in control for any scenes involving Navy jets.
@@Narcissist86 Though he does have an honorary Navy pilot call sign ("Top Gun").
Talk about an incredibly successful and refreshing spin on the original story. Maverick was stunning to see, especially with how the filmed the flight scenes #GoNavy!
This movie is such a great thing for us aviation nerds. Good lord. I never thought they'd make a sequel that was such aviation porn.
It is NOT an original story, it is based on Operation Opera, look that up and compare them.
This is an excellant film, I especoally love the score from Zimmer. Excited to watch the reaction!
Mach 10 is about 7800 MPH
The scene where Maverick makes the run was so great in theaters. One of the top movie moments I’ve ever had for sure.
It was only after watching Pitch Meetings that I realised this is Star Wars 😂
"So Maverick and the gang have to fly down this narrow trench to hit a small exhaust port target..."
"Are they doing a Star Wars?"
"No, so anyway the young pilot hasn't got his targeting laser so has to do it blind, and Maverick his old mentor tells him to just feel his way and let go... and he hits the target and blows it up"
"THEY ARE DOING A STAR WARS!"
😂
So glad you watched this one finally, one of my favorites, watched it 5 times in theaters, absolutely phenomenal.
This was my favorite movie that year... Everyone stayed after and talked about the movie in theater
*"HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE BABY!!!"* 🔥🔥🔥
this just popped up on my TH-cam feed and I was like “hold on, Why haven’t I watched this before?“ Until I realized you just posted it. 😅😅
The aircraft at the end was one of his own. It was his mustang. He is an aviation nut. Respect... lol
I randomly watched this on a plane because I had a tight 2 hours to fill and had no expectations (never saw the original). I absolutely ADORED this movie, it felt like such a classic "bringing a motley crew together as a team" style story that I haven't seen in a while and didn't know I missed.
I love how this movie made no mention of where the enemy is or who they are so that they wouldn't upset anyone lol.
There was representation. But China made them take it out.
… but only one other country in the world has F14 Tomcats.
This has become one of my favorite movies ever. It’s just so perfect for what it is. Everything is *chef’s kiss*.
I love that the mission is basically Star Wars Death Star trench run 2.0, but it still totally works and feels different.
Already one of my favourite films!
The first one was blockbuster.
*The sequel was a masterpiece.*
- Its that simple
19:35, hey Nat! The plane scenes from both in and out of the cockpit look so real because they are real! Many of the scenes, like the original, used real aerial photography with real fighters. In this movie, the actors are really in the cockpits of fighter jets and filming these scenes in the air. They’re just in the WSO seat of a two seater plane and using film techniques to make it look like they’re the pilots.
So what's even more hilarious about Maverick doing the demonstration mission, is that he didn't have a backseater handling weapons/targeting. He had to do everything from flying to targeting.
Yup! He was doing the job of 3 people!
So what's hilarious about that?
The great thing of this movie is that every scene inside of a plane, was actually filmed in a real fighter jet while a real military pilot was piloting it. Oh and in the final scene, it’s a WW2 fighter plane, and that was really actually Tom Cruise piloting it
I ain't worried about that right now 🎶
Bird jump scare was awesome. Great reaction Nat
quite literally the most beautiful movie i have ever watched!!!! loveeee it
Watching this in the theater during the Father Day Weekend was such an experience
The sequel is much better than the first one.
In certain ways ,yes. In a few ways, no
Be serious.
My number one film of 2022. That was a great year for movies.
It looks realistic because it is real. They mounted 8 imax cameras in each plane and they all were in F18’s flying.
@@yxeaviationphotog because directors are very particular about lighting, composition and color. And these things are very hard to control with entirely real shots in real jets. CG helps to make the shots looks better
So so so excited to experience this reaction with you!! I think this is another sequel that far surpasses the original.
I commented on this on CinemaWins, I love how Phoenix remains just another pilot the whole time. A competent, confident pilot who is good enough to make the final mission. She’s no love interest, no token kill, doesn’t have an “I am woman, hear me roar” sequence; it’s just a given that she belongs there just as much as anyone else. I feel like That’s how you nail representation ❤ I love this movie so much! Love your insights, love your charisma, can’t wait to see what you think!
I completely agree about Phoenix and her representation in the movie; she’s not a representative hire, just a greatly written character, a badass and has some good humor along with it. Absolutely nailed it
The chortle after Penny's 'Oh, shut up!' has crossed a threshold, imo.
A good friend at my church was one of the Navy Pilots who flew the planes for the first Top Gun! It's awesome talking to him about how everything went down, and we went with him to a showing of the film and he had a ton of awesome insights after the film!
Brutal edit on this! Skipped loads of nice moments
In military aviation they have something called “time to death”, basically it’s a formula that takes into account for altitude, speed, and reaction time. So, the closer to the ground and faster; less time to death. Higher and slower; more time to fix issues or eject to safety
8:26 Forget Rooster…Why was he named BRADley BRADshaw?!?! So Brad Bradshaw for short.
Because his ma was played by MegAN RyAN! 😂😂😂😂
Sorry mate. Had to do it!😊
I went to high school in the early 2000s with a kid named Bradley Bradshaw 😂 everybody called him Brad Brad lmao
Yeah, lil’ Brad Brad!😂
Another Great Video. At 5:10 *Maverick actually dies here, the rest is Maverick dreaming out his regrets, 'things not resolved.'*
Top Gun 3 has been green lit !!
regarding the "Foxtrot" teams. The F-18 has several different versions. However the relevant versions from this movie are the F-18E and F-18F. The E model is the single seat version, and the F model (Foxtrot) is the 2-seater. version and has the targeting pod so they can lase the target for the E-model single seat plane carrying the bomb
Please give the Star Trek franchise a chance. 🖖🖖🏻🖖🏼🖖🏽🖖🏾🖖🏿
It's a rerun of the mission in _Iron Eagle 2_ which was then a rerun of the Death Star trench run in _Star Wars._
@@BogeyTheBear Which was a rerun from 633 Squadron (1964).
@@thatHARVguy Which was... a rerun of the account the Red Baron described in his autobiography where he flew through a French village in a thunderstorm?
Which is basically a re-run of irl low level military flying in war time..
Finally! This is one of the movies I've been waiting for. Thanks Nat!
For the mission and training it's the 2nd plane that aims for you
Things Maverick forgot to do
1. arm the ejector seats, pull the pins, turn the switch on top of his ejection switch, tell Rooster to do the same.
2. before take off, lower the flaps to take off position for more lift.
3. after he sees the altimeter start going up, raise the wheels.
A sequel worthy of its equal - hits all the beats/feels & delivers the goods - must see in IMAX. And Iceman - just *chef's kiss.
The part where the notice Rooster is supersonic and then see it's an F-14 and Tom Hamm say's "Maverick" should be in every reaction video.
Saw this 6 times in theaters. Loved it so frickin' much. IMAX blew me away. Can't wait for the 3rd movie.
Val Kilmer couldn’t talk because he had throat cancer. He died before this movie came out. Makes this very emotional.
Hi Nat.
The dog fights in this movie were spectacular
I loved the way they shot the in plane stuff for this. Getting the cast in the rear seats of actual F-18's and having them thrown around works amazingly well but also not an easy undertaking for the cast. They had to be physically fit to deal with the forces being put on their body and be able to still do their job and do that acting stuff. Worth it though. Imo those sequences are some of the best air combat sequences we've ever got.
The amount of times I have watched this one! This is like T2 to Terminator 1! Sequel that’s much better than its predecessor
That's a direct quote from Goose in Top Gun " C'mon Mav do some of that pilot s#!/"
I believe we do hear Goose's responses through the actors who speaks next dialogue, which always gives me the feels.
It not lost on me when Rooster says "talk to me Dad" and Maverick responds "Come on kid."
Or on the reply to Maverick is "You are where you belong."
Those 2 kills that Mav got makes him an Ace (5 kills). Probably the first in awhile in the Top Gun Universe
Can’t wait for Top Gun 3!!!!!
28:09 my niece was so invested in the film that she ran screaming from the room convinced that maverick and rooster had just died
The IMAX experience on this one was just breathtaking. What a movie!
I saw this in theaters with my dad. Only movie I’ve seen lately that got a standing ovation. It was incredible to experience it.
