GREAT video! I went through training and they emphasized "whale eyes" and "lip licks". But, I finally learned to read intent. My dog, a rescue, has an attack history even with me (she doesn't attack me; she has attacked other dogs). Your videos actually saved her from being put down. I learned so much to help me rehab.
Awesome video and breaking down the “loading”. My 5 year old GSD has been raised on your videos and last week I bought a URAL sidecar motorcycle and my dog rides in the “tub”. Took 3 days to get her up to 30 min rides with goggles. People ask how and I send them to your channel! Big fan Jeff.
Good job ! My dog is super dominant, that’s why I expose him over and over so he will get over- I also notice if he gets over excited he get even more dominant !
Hey Jeff, thanks for posting this. Love seeing the video clip examples! Can you explain why the bonker is more effective then an ecollar correction? You said it was the most effective tool for correcting this type of loading so I’m wondering if the e collar correction maybe increases arousal? Thanks!
Hi! I think the e collar can definitely escalate a dog and cause them to react more. My GSD definitely reacts more with the e collar if I use it for correcting. The bonker is amazing, I use it on my dog and her arousal completely gets cut off and we can walk past other dog's. My main issue with my dog is that she will stiffen and growl at other dog's when we are out walking. Hope my comment helped you!
@@bradtremblay2111 yeah, no problem! Just be ready for some stares from people if you decide to use the bonker while out in public....I had to grow a thick skin so to speak.
I have a question. We rescued a Staffie mix about a year ago. He's approx 18 months old and neutered. I started training him on day one. We exercise him everyday. We live in the desert so it's too hot to walk him. We use a treadmill instead and he loves it. And he swims in the river too. He is a happy, well behaved, obedient dog. We have alot of people coming and going on the property and he loves people. He was always fine around other dogs but recently he started showing aggression toward other dogs. Mostly our neighbor's Chihuahuas. Dog parks are empty right now so I found Dogs with Jobs on Amazon Prime and he is glued to it. He shows no aggression just fascination. He won't take his eyes off. Does watching dogs on TV help with exposure?
no TV will not train your dog, for the time being don't socialize your dog in the traditional sense, you can still take your dog places and have your dog exist around other dogs and people and environmentals.
@@SolidK9Training He's doing much better now. He does better in the park with no leash. We have had other dogs on our property and he has been completely social. So relieved. Thank you for you comment.
If an attack is successful, will utilizing the "out" command work? Our 7 month old Springer has only recently become aggressive towards our family dog, no bites but frantic growling and tussling. Scary to listen to and we're beginning remote collar training work locally soon. Thanks for the great videos!
Thank you for this video….I have a Rottweiler and everyone thinks he is going to attack but I have never seen any of these behaviors in him…I will look and feel more closely now.
@@1packatak They are great dogs and very protective…my daughter is pregnant and he sits at her feet whenever she is around…he also makes sure my elderly mother makes it to her room every night at bedtime…it’s kind of funny.
My takeaway: The standstill pause, the dominant posture and understanding their intent is definitely something to lookout for. Correcting them by moving them away is the best solution
My dog attacks people and even our other 2 senior dogs. I am so tired of dealing with these outbursts. He is kept in his own room at night, and is currently always wearing a muzzle at home. I don't know what else to do, because he has caused damage to my dogs and even me!
@@SolidK9Training okay, thank you for responding! You are the only youtube trainer to do so. I have worked with many rescue dogs for years, and this dog has been my biggest challenge yet. I would really appreciate some guidance, because we have a baby on the way also.
Can you please do an in-depth video on why people should not put their hands through a fence, or reach over a fence, in an attempt to pet a dog in his own fenced in yard? There are no articles and videos about this and I would sure love to have a resource to give to people who oddly become insulted when I have to tell them not to put their hands through our fence to pet my 120 pound male German Shepherd. My boy absolutely LOVES people, but I will not tolerate this behavior from them because THEY are putting myself and my dog in a liability risk....on our own property. I absolutely refuse to put my dog as risk for their selfish ignorance. I've heard too many horror stories about good dogs paying the ultimate price for someone's selfish need to pet them through the dogs fenced in yard. Help please!
Would have helped to have the video clips bigger on screen. Maybe w/ a voice over by Jeff? I've learned a tremendous amt from this channel but the details I sometimes miss.

thank you for putting these videos out Jeff!!!
Your videos have helped me train my GSD to be a pretty good dog, now trying the same was with my cane corso puppy
ANOTHER great video of actual examples. A picture/video is worth a thousand words! TFS
Great Advice I love to watch your training even though my 3 dogs are great always aware of other dogs thank you for sharing 🙏🙏
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen SK9T put out.
Noticing these details is the most important tool in help an aggressive or reactive dog (I think). Hope you make more videos like this.

The master in session! Always amazing work! Great job teaching people about the energy we got to observe! Awesome!!!!
It took 64 years to learn most of what you spoke about. Are you self taught too ?
The information is priceless.
I realy like the new style of the videos! Great Job! Love You Guys!

Sometimes the tv can actually cause more reactive behavior. I had to train my dog to stop being reactive whenever she saw another dog on the TV.

IS THERE ANY SIGNS TO LOOK FOR WHEN CHOOSING A DOG? I KNOW SHELTERS DO TESTS, BUT IF BUYING ELSE WHERE?
tons of signs and too many too list, and I would NEVER trust a shelters assesment of a dog

What is "whale eye"?
It's when a dog side eyes you without turning its head. Named so because that's how a whale, having no bendable neck, would look at you at its side.
