Keep pumping these out...I made mistake of telling my dog to "leave it" when bikes and people go by to prevent "THE LUNGE," then food reward. Correction instead. Will practice.

Thank you Jeff. You have helped me so much with my beautiful 1 year old pound puppy. Being a GSD x Malinois and wilful I was struggling after having Australian Cattle Dogs and Border Collies. She tends to respect me more now and the neck tech prong collar was a revelation, made such a difference on the walk. I had a one-to-one dog trainer in and he used dominance and that does work for me. What you do really suits me and it works. You a kind and sensible. Thank you, thank you all the way from Sydney Australia.

Such an awesome video - showing examples of both behaviors really gives the viewer perspective and makes your explanation of the do’s and don’ts crystal clear. Please do more of these videos - they are just the right amount of time and info!! Love all your training videos and have been following you on TH-cam for 7+ years!

    Love all your videos Jeff.
So helpful, and even the basics like this one are great reminders, thank you.
I trained my first puppy from 4 months old purely from your information and he's a fairly good boy.
We have loads of structure and routine.
    Fast forward 2 years......
3 weeks ago we got a 9month old female pup from a refuge, who is so calm for most things, doing really well picking up the other dogs good habbits very quickly, but goes wild in the crate.
I tried the softly softly, gentle approach because of her being so gentle but it wasn't working.
100% back to refreshing my memory and watching and using only your method, coz it works.
    Thank you 🙏

When I got my first GSD male 3 years ago, your videos saved us both! For a year I constantly watched and learned. We are on our 5th GSD now. All the manners, eCollar training, prong collar, etc, I learned and use successfully. Then I got this new high drive female. No socialization and at 5 months had never seen a leash or collar. 7 month old high drive import. Super smart. Learns quickly. Only dog I have ever had that is a crazy jumper🤦🏼‍♀️ So I’m back. Lol She’s definitely my challenge but I see the potential in her to be special. She is not working line but she certainly acts like it. Lol They are all West German Showline long coat shepherds. Amazing temperaments. Today I’ve gone through the stop jumping videos and plugged in my mini educator eCollar💪🏼 While her other obedience is coming along very nicely, this is a definite bad issue. Thank you for all your help!

Love this video. Thank you Jeff for all the wonderful free content you so generously offer. The last bit #5 really resonates with me. My neighbour three doors down, has a brilliant Belgium Shepard. I know exactly when they are going for "walkies". The dog lunges out of the house, barking her damned head off, and proceeds to take my neighbour for a walk around town. LOL I want so much to help her change this behaviour. It is killing me.. but she has never asked for advice, I am no professional and quite frankly it is none of my business, Rest assure, it drives me crazy because I know this dog is not reaching the potentials I know she is capable of.

One of our dogs is hard of hearing (also stubborn) so 'come' from across.the house doesn't sometimes work. He and our other dog also have bladder issues. So many times, we do get them out to bio fairly soon after we arrive home. I love all of the advice otherwise, and it's a great refresher for me.

I feel like this guy saves lives. I had a crazy black lab who lived in the woods on his own for 18months. I "rescued" him and gave him a good life. He pulled me all over. 100 lbs strong dog. I took him to 2 obedience schools and no improvement. Jeff taught me how to use a prong collar. Amazing. Immediate change. He passed away a few weeks ago. His final years were amazing. I was so proud to walk him. It was safe to go out with him. Yeah right; only positive re-enforcement. Thank you Jeff. Without your help he would have pulled me in the traffic or I would have had him put down because he was crazy. He lived another 8 years but they were good years with your guidance.

This video should be required viewing for any new dog owner. Another great video would be walk etiquette. So many dog owners have no clue and make things terrible. Leave their lunging out of control dog on the inside, stopping with their dog while you walk by so their fixating dog can become more and more aroused, etc just maddening. Love your content!

Okay I try not to repeat commands especially since I have been following you. But what if he is upstairs and I say come. And he doesn't. (He is over a year old) do I start to put a lead back on him inside the house (he is the same outside). But how do I "pull " on the lead when he is upstairs

My dog is picky with who she gets along with so I tend to be weary. She reacts differently with people who stand up to her and those that are more hesitant, which are mostly kids and women especially when they stare. She has nipped at fingers, mostly because a trainer said to have people offer treats. I really need to train this out of her but am afraid that I will make her more fearful and transgress back to a more fearfull state. I was watching the bonker video, do you recommend this for her? Are you ever in Alberta Canada? What do you recommend?

Hi I was wondering if you have any advice. My partner recently got a puppy. Shes 10 weeks old. Shes a germanshepard cross rottweiler. Shes learning great and can give paws and high five.
We have 2 young children. Recently the pup has been barking at my 2 year old. Even if she is just sitting watching tv. Her ears are back slightly and her tail is waggling high. I've noticed her nip at her when she walks by her. She literally follows my 2 year old around but then runs away when my child turns to face her. I make sure the puppy has a chill out area she can go to because obvs with a 2 year old and a one year old the house can get pretty loud. So I understand she needs space. I tell the children things like gentle hands and indoor voices ( because high pitched voices seem to stress the pup ) I reward the pup when shes gentle and tell her no and ignore her when she nips or snaps. I just don't know what to do. If you reply I would greatly appreciate it any advice would be appreciated thank you xxx

I have tons of advice. Raising a puppy is very methodical. Great that you taught paw and high five but those won’t have much use You are going to have a very large powerful dog so you need to understand to train all the basic commands and stop all unwanted commands n we have a great online course about raising a puppy as well as other courses and offer 1/1 virtual training. You can go to academy.Solidk9training.com I am actually doing a podcast Monday and this is a great example of what the topic will be on.

Hi. This was great thank you. Do you have a video on how to "give" consequences? I don't want to make the crate or dog run a punishment, what things can I do to tell my dog that that is NOT the behaviour required? There the no treat/reward, but if he's been naughty, instead of just giving up, how can I give him a consequence? Appreciate any help. Thanks

The very first one you talked about. UGH. I have a friend that constantly does that to her year old female GSD. The result of her doing that is causing the dog major anxiety and it is very plain to see. I don't dare say anything because well, she's not my dog. My almost 4 year old female GSD doesn't have that anxiety issue because I don't treat her like a kid/human. While my friends GSD is all freaking out in a pile of whining, my GSD is in a sit stay all calm. LOL.

Can I ask you a question please 👀 so my dog is doing fabulous his 1 in November his half sharpei and half alapha bull dog ,, his huge and he is lead reactivate I'm doing grate at giving him a tug just before he does things but 👀 his weight for me his almost pulling me over I'm in England so we don't do electric collar we do do prong but is this going to far. His so young 🤔. He is dominant in play with other dogs but friendly bowing, I give a good tug to try keep his feet on the ground,, but his to powerfull x his going to pull me flying the full length of a foot ball pitch soon. It's definitely the lead and collar I need to change , his on a choke chain witch doesn't hold high at all. And a simple chain lead. I feel like anything else would brake x his body and weight is the bull dog his coat and face are sharpei..
😢 the wtf do I do to keep him from pulling me over with his weight

    • @SolidK9Training
      @SolidK9Training  3 ปีที่แล้ว

We don’t put the dog. We teach that fog thst behavior is wrong and there is a consequence foe doing it. So the dog does not break command it stays in heel and does nothing be protective. We deal with this daily and do seminars on it
