  • As always thank you for watching folks.
So this is Bath, well my small snippet of my experience of Bath, I will be going back!
Using the new mic through most of this, issues with wearing a scarf as it was then a bit too far away and covered when attached to my coat, and I had a setting wrong so if you are watching using headphones the sound is in one ear, sorry folks, we have worked it out now ready for next time.
I love doing these videos, I am learning every time and trying different things so every one will be a little different.
    ........
Please do hit subscribe and the notification bell so you know when I have uploaded a new video and have a peek back at my other videos. Every view helps build up my little channel and adds to the smile on my face. :-)
Thank you Thank you Thank you
    Rebecca

Don't feed the gulls notice brings to mind growing up on or near the coast while Dad was in the USN. Even at 60 years old now & living in central Missouri far from any ocean or bay or estuary, there are still vivid memories of the sounds of the gulls; the foghorns, and how muted exterior sounds seemed to be in the foggy air; waves both in surf and lapping at piers. And of the smells of saltwater, oil base paint on the ships, cooking grease on the ships. Walking to school in the fog was what I'm going to term a magical, ethereal, experience.

Hi Rebecca... Before they went and screwewed things up just a bit more, you could have taken a train direct from Andover to Bath a couple of times a day. As it is, I always thought it a nice place to visit.Maybe you should come with me and visit Sam Wellers(pub), always an important stop on a visit to Bath.....Best clear it with Paul I guess. Problem?... I now live in Spain.

I went there a month ago. It is an absolutely beautiful place. I went with a tourguide to Stonehenge and Bath.
In Bath, apart from the Roman Baths i took a bus to the University to see the skyline of Bath, Bu it turned out that was a few stops earlier, so i walked back through beautiful Gardens to the road again and there was a small path between houses where the skyline was. You can also drink the spring water. It is quite warm, tastes slightly muddy and a little sulphury. The Pumproom where there is a restaurant is very nostalgic, feels like a century or more ago with live music being played.

Been a few times it is a nice place. Should try Malvern (make sure you pick a day with the farmers market open or ideally a day with a craft fare) Worcester and Upton upon seven are also cool little places to visit, tbh loads of nice places within a few miles could easily spend a few weeks exploring the little towns around worcestershire.

What seems like ages ago now, I worked just outside of Bath in Bath Spa University, and would explore the city on lunch breaks (especially if that included travelling between sites). Bath really is a lovely place to visit if you want to see some fantastic architecture and historical sites. And of course the shops are pretty good too!
I was wondering, what sort of rail ticket do you use to get about? I imagine booking individual journeys without some sort of "frequent flyer" pass would work out very expensive.

Love train travel, with one proviso. No luggage! When I was much younger I had to travel by train a lot, more often than not carrying a large suitcase. Changing trains was always a nightmare because you could guarantee having to change platforms which would entail going downstairs, or upstairs, running through the corridors desperately trying to find the right platform before departure time. Doing it for pleasure though is a much different think. Enjoying the videos! PS Bath looks beautiful.

I have learnt something. I did not know South West Trains went to Westbury. That's almost a parliamentary train. PS. if Andover was GWR station and not a SR station you would have been platform 2. The GWR Up platforms were always 1.

Lovely city - we used to go there frequently a few years ago, but only twice more recently. Our best visit was to stay with a friend who was able to take us on a free tour under the Roman Baths (during an open day for local residents) BEFORE they made it accessible as part of the current tour. Worked out of Bath(home office) for 40 years and have lived here for the last 8 years. The phrase "Familiarity breeds contempt" comes to mind but I'm not knocking Bath and can see the attraction but I also know the Bath that the tourist does not see. My job entailed working in different locations throughout the South and South West and can say Bath is above average when compairing the different towns Cities I have worked in.

Assuming she went from Andover to Bath Spa, the Off-Peak Day Return fare is £23.60.
(That's without any railcard, which would make it cheaper - but costs money to purchase).
Other fares are available, possibly cheaper, and certainly dearer.
The distance is about 40 miles (each way, surprisingly!).
