Thanks for your information. It was helpful do to the 3 codes on a 2002 Subaru Forester. 1 code po 731,2 code po303, 3 code po440 changed the gas cap. Had to get the valves gaskets fixed. Thanks for this video, very informative. So it's a safe bet that a P0440 code coupled with rough idle & difficult starts would be a stuck open purge valve? Haven't checked the canister, tho it's 24 years old & dirty under the van, but the rough idle seals the deal for me. This is common, so I've heard, if you tend to overfill the gas tank. Liquid fuel gets in the canister & destroys this valve.
