Regal vice with the monster jaw. Has held up for thousands of jigs. Think it's about 9yr old. Still like new no parts needed and it's very fast with notches for heavier hooks. You won't ever get another vice. Well nice work!
Glad to see you back. I know you have been busy. This cooler weather sure has my customers wanting jigs. Crappie are on fire here in north Alabama. Welcome back Jay.
I had to add......whether this is a steal head jig or not....smallmouth here in north Alabama would destroy that thing. I fish a black marabou jig when tbe water temps get below 45f. Killer smallmouth bait as well.
I whip finish with a loop of thread so I can lay the wraps neatly for a nice pretty collar. Whip finish by hand or with a tool works just fine but extra care is needed to lay the wraps smoothly.
I use a lacquer based head cement on all jigs. On this video, I was tying a few dozen so I place the finished jig on my rack and completed the head cement for all at the end (off camera).

Hello Jay, I'll have to order some more jigs from you soon. Your videos I appreciate and enjoy watching them.
You make this look easy! This would be a trout slayer!
Nice jig, I just tied me up a few to take trout fishing. Thanks for sharing!

Love to see some tying of ice fishing jigs!!!
Like your choice of thread to whip finish. Do you find you can get more turns doing it that way than by hand or with a tool?

I noticed you don’t coat the thread when finished, what’s the reason for that.

Makes sense. 👍🏻
