Very cool video, 40K has some of my favourite weapons, obviously The Bolt Gun, The Melta Gun, The Plasma Gun, Shuriken weapons, Death Spinners, The Rail Rifle, Fleashborer and so many more!
I think mono molecular edged are normal weapons/ammunition but honed to the point where the edge is a single molecule interestingly enough cutting/breaking a single atom would release massive amounts of energy. It's how nuclear bombs are made they split atoms to create explosions. Air moves so fast and sporadic that it's atoms could just move around the edge but a collision with a solid mass would be devastating
Hey mate, jeez that was a bloody mission. I'll be compiling my efforts into a video and releasing it soon but some things went well and other things were an absolute shit show lol. Hopefully it provides some fun entertainment.
I despise "monomolecular" with a passion. Its such an overused trope in Sci-Fi. Monomolecular anything would be a terribly weapon. Take a MM sword. Just the act of swinging it through the air, would cause the edge to contact air molecules. Just the act of swinging a sword through the air, would chip the MM edge and mean its no longer an MM edge. Not withstanding that an MM wound would be so thin that a wound would heal almost instantly. Without starting to throw Van der Waals forces and more Physics bombs around. TLDR. MM weaponry are pure Sci-Fi. As described in 40K, They would not work at all.
@@titanwargaming Its the overuse of the term and its "I win" reputation in Sci-Fi. The only 40K use that's viable, is the Harlequins Kiss. This can be handwaved as something "buzzword" puncturing a miniscule hole in armour and then the MM injected into the hole. That I can accept, as it make in universe sense too. The Kiss is implied to be used in a punching motion anyway. So punching the muzzle into armour, that works. Its one of those unfortunate Sci-Fi tropes that has too much real world in it. D-Cannon, no problems whatsoever with it at all. it Sci-magic tech. As no one can hope to even hazard a guess how it would really work in RL.
For sure mate, totally agree! I didn't realise into researching into it how underwhelming it actually would be. I guess the fictional assumption/ reasoning is that the edge would be so fine it would cut through a wide range of different materials. flesh armour etc. and that as the blade broadened following the finer edge, this would open the fine slice up further but as you say, it just doesn't work that way.
oh dear initiate. if you cut human skin with a monomolecular edged weapon you would just effortlessly be able to cut someone in half. obsidian scalpels can be a few molecules thick. surgeons still use them.
My initial reply to you was wholly negative but I've deleted that and wrote this one instead in the hope that a few people read it. 1. People who create content for others, do it for free in the hope they can build a wide audience and make enough of a living from it to not work for tossers in the real world. Something great people can do is support them FOR FREE by liking and even sharing their content. No one's forcing you to join Patreon mate, get over yourself. 2. The time it took for you to write your troll comment, you could have liked a bunch of my videos, helping my small channel a little bit. But instead you chose to write a negative comment about a video which took me almost a week to conceptualise, write a script for, record, edit and upload. 3. If you actually do enjoy someone's content and you get to watch it for free, the least you can do is give it a Like. Better yet, subscribe, share, hit the notifications bell because all this tells the TH-cam algorithm that the video you're reacting to is good and YT will give it a tiny bit more of an opportunity to gain more viewers by suggesting it to a slightly wider range of audience. Something small from a viewer but a massive opportunity for a creator for ONE SECOND of your time. Personally, to support creators who I like on YT I even let their ads run fully so they get slightly more revenue from it, unlike some tossers who just leave troll comments. Maybe next time choose to do better mate.

Yeah I'm not a big fan either mate though thankfully there's an abundance of peculiar weaponry to provide variety.

Not giving you my money, not going to like or subscribe, safe that deal for the end of the videos. Clicking do not recommend.
