The Tote Man does know about my channel :0) Mrs. Tote Man watches occasionally. They both are nice people and do work hard at the reselling aspect. Too bad the Tote Man doesn't let me do a behind the scenes video, but we can't reveal all of his secrets... and I want to be fair to everyone else at the market because we know I'd like to have a sneak peek each week at what is in the totes. The tomato plant must be a mini variety because the little cherry tomatoes remain rather small, even the same plants that Taco Stacks has in his garden are similar. The tomatoes still taste good despite their extra small size! The fern is going strong, getting spritzed during the day as per instructed. I'm afraid to check into the root thing, as I don't want to harm it! Hope you stay cool with the weather! We still have the humidity here but "cooler" temps are on the way.

So, if your fern survives winter time, you might separate the single plants in next spring and establish a whole "family" of ferns. I was impressed by that first vendor where you got those lovely vintage cards...everything was laid out so nicely. I wish id been there with you. I would have bought a lot of stuff, mostly glass. That powder jar with the poodle handle is an old piece, maybe 40s-ish. I think made by Jeanette Glass. They were made with 3 or 4 different animals. I had one in my antique mall booth a few years ago.
Please Tote Man, listen to Renée's request and come back soon! We all want her happy and finding treasures in your boxes. And to whoever is responsible for the weather, something in the seventies during the day and below thirty during the night would still be fine for being called summer. 😉 You can rarely find fleamarkets like yours in Berlin. Most are frequented by tourists, many sell modern works of art and handcrafted items, those who sell older and vintage stuff mostly know their value. Rarely you will find many totes with random items to look through. There are some nice fleamarkets in small villages in the countryside, but usually only once or twice a year. That's where private individuals sell what they don't need anymore, and there you can find real treasures and bargains. No Toteman but loads of vintage knick-knacks - old toys, printing blocks, thingumajigs, postcards - what a cool flea market! Glad you got your Toms. I needed tomatoes as well. Ordered groceries and forgot them. Toteman - less, level devastation!! What's a sandwich without them…!?😖😊👍
The photo of the bride looked to be a porcelain/ceramic photo that would be used on a headstone. Very collectible in the photo world if it was. Also, while digging through the pile of post cards (on the same table) looked to be a black and white post card with flower arrangements. A sure sign that it might be a post mortem photo. The cases you bought for antique photos made me jealous. I had bought a tin type that was missing it's case. Looked in all my honey holes, and on line to find a new old one for it. I just wanted/needed the part for the tin type to go into (the gold pieces that held the glass and tintype together was wonkey and needed repair) but couldn't fine one anywhere. Ended up paying an arm and a leg to have the photo custom frame.
The bride photo was a mirror, had the mirror on the other side. I know what you are referring to in regard to the photos used on headstones & I personally love seeing headstones that have the photos on them. Lets us know a little bit more about the person versus just their name & time spent on this earth!
@@PaperandMoose that's interesting that it's a mirror but will admit that it gave me the giggles as I tried to figure out who that was meant for. Granted, different times, different social/etiquette norms but still seemed a little narcissistic unless it was a gift for the mother and/or grandmother.
Looks like several of the vendors were lucky enough to have shade. Wishing we had markets during the week like that, the ones in this area are usually on holiday weekends and booth space is quite expensive, could explain why the vendors want so much for their treasures. Before the pandemic, the locals were more reasonable. I wonder if the beauty product person is a couponer Thanks for the adventure

I was so glad that the health & beauty products people were there! Stocked up on some things & saved money! I know many others were happy to see them too, as several people were making large piles of items to buy.

Feel for you in the heat! It's 100 degrees here and humid! I have old family tintypes but have no idea who they are. Shame no one wrote names.on them somehow.
Are they inside of a case or just loose? I wonder if in the case if there would be any identifying information on the back. Sometimes they aren't that easy to remove from the case, if at all.
Hi - well - a penny saved is a penny earned, right? I like those condolence cards and all that went with them. Certainly would stand out for condolences, birthday, or get well, etc. My gg grandfather who fought in the Civil War had several daguerrotypes made to send to his wife in Patterson, NJ. He always said (in letters we have) he was so ugly that they were "dog" guerrotypes. Those covers are a great find for future coverless photos you come across! Teddy Ruxspin had a friend named Grubby? He sounds like he'd fit right in the the Ruxspinners Bad-*** Ephemerists Motorcycle Gang. Really liked that gold (gold-filled) Art Deco thing at ~4:12 - looks like it had hooks for a chain - maybe a clutch? I think someone should compose a Tote Man song to "Please Mr. Postman." Thanks for the video - was interesting to see the stuff. The heat is awful here and slowing all kinds of things down including FMs, estate sales, etc. and my desire to go to them. I completely agree about the heat slowing things down! The last few days, the last week, my energy level feels completely zapped. Not sure if it's the heat, the humidity, the constant running of the AC... I'll blame it on all three! Just going outside in the morning to water my plants leaves you feeling like you need to shower all over again. "Dog"guerrotypes... your great great grandfather had a good sense of humor! There looks to be an excellent estate sale coming up towards the end of the month, which cooler weather would help because it looks like a big "digger" sale in an older home. Heat, humidity, or a nice summer breeze, I shouldn't be complaining because any chance to go to a digger estate sale is a good one! Spent today finishing up a History Behind the Paper video for tomorrow, so stayed tuned for that!
No one does couponing any more in my area. No paper coupons to be had. Pallet buyers are more likely. They make money on volume. I'm a tag-saler and it's been dire for a solid month. For what I like, it's been dire since last September. Tote Man, you're needed!
I remember when grocery stores used to have those little "machines" that would have a stash of coupons inside for specific products. Of course as a kid, one would have to pull just a few out and not just one. Whatever method this family uses, I was so glad to see them there and get a few items. Just wish they would have had my deodorant - it costs almost $11 at the store. Crazy!
Perhaps Tote Man should set up a Facebook page with his schedule? Everyday needs at a great price is always good. Now go have a wonderful fresh tomato sandwich 👍👍
I thought about that for the Tote Man too 🙂 He could get everyone all excited for the market, camp out at night to get the first tote! Or do “sneak peeks” and post a few photos of the inside of some of the totes.
Lol, I used to sell at the Fleamarket's, and I would buy from estate and liked to buy in bulk then go sell it and one time I had totes full of Disney and for a while I was called the Disney guy, then months later I bought out a big collection of Star Wars and for a while I was called the Star Wars guy. Then one day I was looking to buy a big barbie & doll collection, I'm like oh no I'm going to be the doll guy and sur enough I was, lol.
I saw some stuff I would have definitely bought if the price was right. That tool with the brass handle and round 12:19 blade ( sort of looks like a small pizza cutter) was made by Osborne and used to cut leather by harness makers. If the blade is Ok I’ve gotten over $40 for them Saw some good stuff on the table with the old gun stuff I think you did well with the gutta percha cases, because so many are missing or damaged always a market for them We went to our flea market today and it was HOT which affected the number of people set up. Some Jamaican guy was selling shaved ice out of a cooler ,first time I have seen them, so me and the girls got some and sat under a tree and ate it up …Think the Amish complained about it and he was closed up We went to Taco Bell for lunch and the soda machine had no ice! I finally had them give me a couple cups from back in the drive through which made the kids think I was special
The shaved ice sounds yummy! I remember in elementary school we used to get an ice pop called, or what we called, Icy Juicy. It came in a triangle shaped package & had the normal flavors like cherry, grape, etc.. It was the highlight of our “Track & Field” days. I hated doing all that running, but loved the Icy Juicy!
We don’t have flea markets near us. There is one we used to go to but the area has gone downhill in the 20 years we’ve lived here. Calling for the toteman to come back.

New Jersey might not have much to brag about, (we just had one of our Senators be convicted for corruption today), but we DO have the most delicious farm grown tomatoes! ENJOY!
Hi Renee! I managed some sales of some old pieces this week, that I finally listed, so that was good. We all need a tote man to get our collections from. I wish I had one, but I do have to get to a few different places to collect some stock. The Cat Hotel is suffering from some management problems, so I don't know how long I will be there. The owner gives us a time limit, but then complains that we don't get to all the extra work she doesn't give us time to do. Because of my employment situation, (I'm on a work retraining stipend) I'm only earning an extra $3 an hour for my time I spend there, before tax. She sends us messages via facebook group chat out of work hours, which, is actually illegal to expect us to reply. I'm only there for the serotonin, but I've also worked my butt off, looking after these babies. Why do people have to chase every last dollar and make people feel like crap and not look after the best interest of the animals in their care? Over booking guests and having to change a cat to three different rooms is very disruptive and confusing. Berating staff by sending abusive messages on a facebook group text during their down time isn't OK.
The whole Facebook group text sounds like it doesn't belong in the workplace. Very unprofessional, in my opinion. I hope the situation gets better for you, because working in that stressful environment is not good for so many reasons. The poor cats too, they need a better environment as well!
@@PaperandMoose Well, she fired me today, so that's that, I guess. At least I won't be working extra hours for free anymore. But she does want me to work through to the first week of August. On Monday, she had overbooked by 4 cats, so they were stuck in their travel cases with no room, water or food.

@@PaperandMoose I've read and reread the letter and reasons she's given for her dismissal of me and I've decided I'm not having it, so I'm taking the case to the workers' ombudsman office. She's new to Norway and doesn't understand the rules here. I'm going to give her an education, because, as you know, I do love teaching.
There are many other great vendors at this market who work hard to be there. The bin man comes and goes maybe he has family issues. Who knows. He is not the only one there.
Being a flea market seller myself, I know that it’s not easy to pack, get up early, set up, repack, etc., so I know that the other sellers are putting in the work to be there. However, the Tote Man is one of the few regular sellers at this market that brings new items every single week. That is why people enjoy shopping with him & look forward to when he is there.

Cool finds. Love old greeting cards. Sometimes they’re musty so I have a habit of sniffing almost everything before I buy it. Haha
Sometimes I find that helps, but other times when outside, the smell just doesn't "smell" until you get home.

Are they inside of a case or just loose? I wonder if in the case if there would be any identifying information on the back. Sometimes they aren't that easy to remove from the case, if at all.
Hi - well - a penny saved is a penny earned, right? I like those condolence cards and all that went with them. Certainly would stand out for condolences, birthday, or get well, etc. My gg grandfather who fought in the Civil War had several daguerrotypes made to send to his wife in Patterson, NJ. He always said (in letters we have) he was so ugly that they were "dog" guerrotypes. Those covers are a great find for future coverless photos you come across! Teddy Ruxspin had a friend named Grubby? He sounds like he'd fit right in the the Ruxspinners Bad-*** Ephemerists Motorcycle Gang. Really liked that gold (gold-filled) Art Deco thing at ~4:12 - looks like it had hooks for a chain - maybe a clutch? I think someone should compose a Tote Man song to "Please Mr. Postman." Thanks for the video - was interesting to see the stuff. The heat is awful here and slowing all kinds of things down including FMs, estate sales, etc. and my desire to go to them. I completely agree about the heat slowing things down! The last few days, the last week, my energy level feels completely zapped. Not sure if it's the heat, the humidity, the constant running of the AC... I'll blame it on all three! Just going outside in the morning to water my plants leaves you feeling like you need to shower all over again. "Dog"guerrotypes... your great great grandfather had a good sense of humor! There looks to be an excellent estate sale coming up towards the end of the month, which cooler weather would help because it looks like a big "digger" sale in an older home. Heat, humidity, or a nice summer breeze, I shouldn't be complaining because any chance to go to a digger estate sale is a good one! Spent today finishing up a History Behind the Paper video for tomorrow, so stayed tuned for that!

No one does couponing any more in my area. No paper coupons to be had. Pallet buyers are more likely. They make money on volume. I'm a tag-saler and it's been dire for a solid month. For what I like, it's been dire since last September. Tote Man, you're needed!
I remember when grocery stores used to have those little "machines" that would have a stash of coupons inside for specific products. Of course as a kid, one would have to pull just a few out and not just one. Whatever method this family uses, I was so glad to see them there and get a few items. Just wish they would have had my deodorant - it costs almost $11 at the store. Crazy!

I thought about that for the Tote Man too 🙂 He could get everyone all excited for the market, camp out at night to get the first tote! Or do “sneak peeks” and post a few photos of the inside of some of the totes.

Our flea market in FL had been open for over 30 years and it just closed up and they sold the land. Nothing stays the same, that's for sure..😵
Oh what a shame! Do you know what the land will be used for now? (In my area, warehouses are the big land grabbers.)

Lol, I used to sell at the Fleamarket's, and I would buy from estate and liked to buy in bulk then go sell it and one time I had totes full of Disney and for a while I was called the Disney guy, then months later I bought out a big collection of Star Wars and for a while I was called the Star Wars guy. Then one day I was looking to buy a big barbie & doll collection, I'm like oh no I'm going to be the doll guy and sur enough I was, lol.

I saw some stuff I would have definitely bought if the price was right. That tool with the brass handle and round 12:19 blade ( sort of looks like a small pizza cutter) was made by Osborne and used to cut leather by harness makers. If the blade is Ok I’ve gotten over $40 for them

I think you did well with the gutta percha cases, because so many are missing or damaged always a market for them
We went to our flea market today and it was HOT which affected the number of people set up. Some Jamaican guy was selling shaved ice out of a cooler ,first time I have seen them, so me and the girls got some and sat under a tree and ate it up …Think the Amish complained about it and he was closed up
We went to Taco Bell for lunch and the soda machine had no ice! I finally had them give me a couple cups from back in the drive through which made the kids think I was special
The shaved ice sounds yummy! I remember in elementary school we used to get an ice pop called, or what we called, Icy Juicy. It came in a triangle shaped package & had the normal flavors like cherry, grape, etc.. It was the highlight of our “Track & Field” days. I hated doing all that running, but loved the Icy Juicy!
We don’t have flea markets near us. There is one we used to go to but the area has gone downhill in the 20 years we’ve lived here. Calling for the toteman to come back.

New Jersey might not have much to brag about, (we just had one of our Senators be convicted for corruption today), but we DO have the most delicious farm grown tomatoes!

This market is in PA, but the tomatoes come from a local farmer who has sold at the market for years. Decent tomatoes & the best price on cabbage!

Hi Renee! I managed some sales of some old pieces this week, that I finally listed, so that was good. We all need a tote man to get our collections from. I wish I had one, but I do have to get to a few different places to collect some stock. The Cat Hotel is suffering from some management problems, so I don't know how long I will be there. The owner gives us a time limit, but then complains that we don't get to all the extra work she doesn't give us time to do. Because of my employment situation, (I'm on a work retraining stipend) I'm only earning an extra $3 an hour for my time I spend there, before tax. She sends us messages via facebook group chat out of work hours, which, is actually illegal to expect us to reply. I'm only there for the serotonin, but I've also worked my butt off, looking after these babies. Why do people have to chase every last dollar and make people feel like crap and not look after the best interest of the animals in their care? Over booking guests and having to change a cat to three different rooms is very disruptive and confusing. Berating staff by sending abusive messages on a facebook group text during their down time isn't OK.
The whole Facebook group text sounds like it doesn't belong in the workplace. Very unprofessional, in my opinion. I hope the situation gets better for you, because working in that stressful environment is not good for so many reasons. The poor cats too, they need a better environment as well!
@@PaperandMoose Well, she fired me today, so that's that, I guess. At least I won't be working extra hours for free anymore. But she does want me to work through to the first week of August. On Monday, she had overbooked by 4 cats, so they were stuck in their travel cases with no room, water or food.

@@PaperandMoose I've read and reread the letter and reasons she's given for her dismissal of me and I've decided I'm not having it, so I'm taking the case to the workers' ombudsman office. She's new to Norway and doesn't understand the rules here. I'm going to give her an education, because, as you know, I do love teaching.

There are many other great vendors at this market who work hard to be there. The bin man comes and goes maybe he has family issues. Who knows. He is not the only one there.
Being a flea market seller myself, I know that it’s not easy to pack, get up early, set up, repack, etc., so I know that the other sellers are putting in the work to be there. However, the Tote Man is one of the few regular sellers at this market that brings new items every single week. That is why people enjoy shopping with him & look forward to when he is there.
