Simon
Thank you for posting this album, one of my old favorites! I used to listen to this back in '80s over and over again until the casette tape got jammed in my player. 'Magic Flute' is maybe the best ever!
Thanks. I really enjoyed this. You went to such trouble too to upload this for everyone what with installing software to extract noise and crackle. Great effort!!
Really increadable, awesome and wonderful interpretations dear maestro. Thanks very very much. Each pieces have unbeliveable thecnic and awesome emotion ever I heart up to now.
I have an album of his younger brother Angel as a young man and the playing is phenomenal; a great musical family. I've read that their father Celedonio (unsure of spelling) was also a great guitarist. Pepe's interpretation of Asturias is right up there with Alirio Diaz and Hose Luis Gonzalez. Wonderful!!
thanks Bavo. This album is apparently not available on CD so I tried to clean up many of the pops and clicks from my vinyl copy using a computer program. I'm working on doing the same for another vinyl album I have "The Romeros Play Vivaldi". Stay tuned :)
Some say vinyl is higher quality I would agree on this recording, the sound engineering and production techniques are a flash in time of perfection. Then there is Pepe I'm his prime here just wow! Thank you.
Grande post, man. Obrigado!
wow..this is a gem! this LP goes (way)back..the 1st Classical guitar album I'd heard and my 1st introduction to these tunes. After hearing Pepe Romero no other (Classical) guitarist would do for years to come.I also had a Segovia LP back then also but the tunes on it were very hard listening unlike the very melodic pieces on this album. I made all the pieces on this record the 1st Classical guitar tunes I would learn(wore the LP and needle out though while learning ;)Great post and contribution!
00:00 Francisco Tárrega "Recuerdos de la Alhambra" 4:49 Heitor Villa - Lobos "Prelude No. 1 in E Minor" 10:34 Antonio Lauro "El Marabino" 11:49 Isaac Albeniz "Asturias" 18:40 Julio S. Sagreras "El Colibrí" 20:00 Heitor Villa - Lobos "Etude No. 1 in E Minor" 21:35 Fernando Sor "Introduction and Variations on a Theme by Mozart, Op.9" 29:20 Fernando Sor "Sonata in C, Op.15" 37:54 Francisco Tárrega "Capricho Árabe"
Etude No 1 by HVL lasting 97 seconds at 20 minutes mark is my all time favourite. This album was one of the reasons I started having classical lessons as a youngster in the late 1970s despite also playing in punk, heavy metal, quirky pop, and weird jazz/prog/experimental bands! I managed to get to grade eight and had a go at playing everything on this album over the years, although my terrible nails always inhibited a nice smooth tremolo.
Yes, this album is a fav of mine. My father, a classical musican (bass) gave it to me when i started played steel string guitars. I think he wanted to open my eyes about the great sound of a classical guitar. It worked !
My favourite guitarist, since I first heard him when I was about 16. I got this magnificent album on vinyl myself which inspired me to take my guitar playing more seriously and study classical guitar. I remember my first lesson, I was self taught up to about grade 5 or 6, but i had loads of bad habits which took a long while to correct.
Great upload. One note on the video description: the Sor's "Introduction and Variations on a Theme by Mozart, Op.9" starts with an "Introduction" at 21:37 and not at 23:09 (That's already "Theme" part of the piece). Thanks!
Leo Hekker I love assuming things. Let me assume again something, this time something related to your previous comment: "Probably not guitarists." I assume this is not supported with solid empirical evidences. Right? Cheer up man.
thanks! I'm suprised the computer didn't get out the "pops". I'd rather just have the album with the pops but the computer hasn't been a complete waste that is for sure!
Tremolo is grate. Absolutely smooth and the illusion of continous tremolo is perfect. As if you can hear really two prase parallel. In manycases tremolo is pulsating not smooth.
TrydisMikee hey man could you especify, in the info about the video, the time around every song piece starts? Thanks for the upload, this is a masterpiece
TrydisMikee He hits a C natural instead of a C sharp. I don't think it was a mistake per se, because he does the same exact thing again at 9:11. It just means that he either misread the music, or he has a different transcription than I do. Or he decided to do his own thing. If you listen to Julian Bream play it, you'll hear what I'm talking about. Compare 5:32 in Pepe's video to 0:29 in Julian's video: Villalobos - Prelude 1 (Julian Bream) I'm not knocking Pepe Romero. He's a phenomenal guitarist. That one part just caught me off guard.
r cuomo Yes, I hear the difference. Nice catch ! You have a good ear....I've only heard Pepe play this so I had nothing to compare it to. Thanks for the info.
Yeah, that one hit me out like a sack of potatoes too. Given the deliberacy of it, I counted as intentional. It's not the only unorthodox thing about his interpretation of this one.
Geweldige guitarist.Heb genoten. Dank je wel.Love.....Light....💛
Aw man! This guy just HeitorVillaLobos'd all *OVER* the place... :) I know I know, I shouldn't be Sor about it...
what a fantastic mix!
I get it

Gracias, Maestro de maestros ❤

Jin Wook Kim I'm glad you and so many others enjoyed it.
one of the best guitarist Bravo Mr Romero
Thanks. I really enjoyed this. You went to such trouble too to upload this for everyone what with installing software to extract noise and crackle. Great effort!!
Bravo and a million thanks for sharing this jewel with the rest of us.
Thanks-John
A GIANT GUITARIST FULL OF TECHNICS AND FEELINGS......MILLION BRAVOO......I WISH YOU MY BEST....!
This is a truly beautiful album. I love Pepe,s playing and his brother Angel is wonderful as well.
Excelente, Pepe.
Love love love it! Yaaaaaaaas. I listen to this at work all the time. Amazing talent.
Thank you for contributing to my 'Collection of Favorites' :o)
Terrific Album and very important, as this clearly exhibits the skill of the young Pepe Romero. Thanks!
Thanks Frank. Apparently it was worth it. I didn't expect to get so many views.
Glad you like it.
Really increadable, awesome and wonderful interpretations dear maestro. Thanks very very much. Each pieces have unbeliveable thecnic and awesome emotion ever I heart up to now.
Thank you SO much for sharing this beauty with us!!!
Just beautiful
A rare Pepe indeed

Allan Wells y pq no lo has subido?
Still have my original vinyl copy bought around 1979. Great album.
thanks Bavo. This album is apparently not available on CD so I tried to clean up many of the pops and clicks from my vinyl copy using a computer program. I'm working on doing the same for another vinyl album I have "The Romeros Play Vivaldi". Stay tuned :)
I like the sound of LP's crackley static and the needle on the grooves.
Some say vinyl is higher quality I would agree on this recording, the sound engineering and production techniques are a flash in time of perfection. Then there is Pepe I'm his prime here just wow! Thank you.
TryDisMikee - Your efforts Are appreciated! Wonderful music 🎶
Awesome and Sublime❤

Favorites! Thank you very much indeed.
* * * * * * SIX GOLDEN STARS!...
Several of the most iconic pieces of spanish music
An absolute world class guitarist , and when you consider the era, you could probably count the players on one hand at this level.
you are welcome. I didnt realize how popular this album was. It was worth the effort to clean up the vinyl record and post it here.
Notas limpias
Que remueven las fibras del corazón
Quedo extasiado con su vibrar
Thank you for the effort
Sensacional Pepe Romero. Gran album.
I may see Senor Romero in my area this weekend, lovely album.
Wonderful music from a truly great virtuoso classical guitarist.

Thank you Enrrique ! I don't know how you did it, but this makes it much easier to play favorite selections.
Absolutely terrific !!! Fabulous...
I used to listen to this tons, particularly when doing my Classical guitar grades. it disappeared in the 80s..... I can guess who "acquired" it...
This man could make a guitar bought at K-Mart sound great!
bravo maestro!! 👏👏
Always amazing to hear this!
Hermosa interpretación. Tema del ayer y de siempre.
Oh man, this makes me remember my childhood and how vinyl records always have those tiny specs of dust making noise during the audio.
la mejor guitarra Pepe Romero !!!!!!!
Winding down with this beautiful guitar music! Bonus: NO COMMERCIALS to interrupt the flow!
21:35 this is my absolute favorite rendition of the Mozart Variations - everyone be sure to hear this!
Ecstatically Beautiful ...
Good skill and very beautiful guitar sound I had ever heard compare to the same pieces of other player
LINDO, DELICADO, HARMONIOSO.
Splendido. Grazie.
Tres satisfait. Verry good.
Thank you so much.
Great Maestro

his rendition of

is Superb.
My favourite guitarist, since I first heard him when I was about 16.

Villa Logos etude no 1 starts almost exactly at the 20 minute mark.
The Romero's..... Unbelievable talent
Pepe plays great along with the sound of "frying bacon"......a-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-.music to my ears...........
AWESOME PLAYER...

Good catch Thanagan ! I made your edit. thanks.
TrydisMikee
The Segovia transcription start directly with the theme and bypass the introduction
Thank you for sharing
You're welcome Leo. If I had known how popular this would be I would have done it sooner. Can't understand the 11 Dislikes it got???
Me neither! Probably not guitarists.
Leo Hekker more likely jealous guitarists :)
Sasa Jusic That is a likely assumption!
Leo Hekker I love assuming things. Let me assume again something, this time something related to your previous comment: "Probably not guitarists." I assume this is not supported with solid empirical evidences. Right?
Cheer up man.
The HVL Etude at 20 minutes is my favourite 😁
BELLISIMO!
muy bueno
I love that guys shirt
BELLO, SUBLIME, CELESTIAL
I had the same LP, at least it was the same cover but it contained different pieces e.g. Malats "Serenata Espanola".
Just went and bought this on Amazon... The Vinyl is REAL cheap. Almost couldn't believe it...
Belíssima música.
Maravilloso
muy buen disco (y)....
thanks! I'm suprised the computer didn't get out the "pops". I'd rather just have the album with the pops but the computer hasn't been a complete waste that is for sure!
Impeccable.
agreed !
this album probably put him on the map
dkw12002: I dont believe this album is available on CD.

Peter Koska "great" sorry for mistyping
Can anyone clean up the sound? The pops and crackles can be startling.
TrydisMikee hey man could you especify, in the info about the video, the time around every song piece starts? Thanks for the upload, this is a masterpiece
IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE TO FIND SPECIALLY THIS MUSIC IN CD; PLEASE LET ME KNOW I WILL BE VERY THANKS!!!!
famous guitar
Mistake at 5:32?
I don't hear anything odd at 5:32? Do you mean a recording error (like a skip) or do you think Pepe hits a wrong note?
TrydisMikee He hits a C natural instead of a C sharp. I don't think it was a mistake per se, because he does the same exact thing again at 9:11. It just means that he either misread the music, or he has a different transcription than I do. Or he decided to do his own thing.

It's not the only unorthodox thing about his interpretation of this one.
Can someone tell me about the part between var.4 and var.5 (beginning at 28'05'')?
The name of the song at twelve minutes someone please🙏
Isaac Albeniz "Asturias"
@@TrydisMikee tnx🤘
Concierto de arin jueas...... I don't think I spelled that correctly
