My whole life I never listened to Mayer because I was ignorant and thought he was some lame pop star. Then I saw Dead and Company live and he melted my face off and I started listening to his solo work. Wow what an artist what a guitar player. The fact that a mainstream artist from today is performing Robert Johnson gives me hope for the future of music.
My man! The exact same thing with me. Saw him at a dead show two years back and was stunned. The man honestly is one of the greatest guitarists of all time and it's a shame he's so overlooked
What a ridiculously good guitar player. I'm not saying - as some people do too often I think - that he beats other guitar players like Clapton; but man, John's skills are just stunning.
Clapton was doing a presser for three J.J.Cale album....jonn ripped of 3 songs in 45 minutes.....Clapton said. "I knew John was good....but not like that !..."
2:30 to 2:53 is such a tasteful line of licks that sum up a couple inspirations of John. You got that high BB King note, the SRV shuffle and that Clapton run he does is all phenomenal; while still keeping it his own.
Tristan Pinkham check out a video called "Habits of John Mayer" by Music is Win channel. It's a great video if you want to learn a lot of things he often does
Learn Neon and its right-hand technique. Best advice possible😎. By time, try to improvise the shuffle part (that 1-min intro in LA). Music Is Win has a video about it. Something like 'Neon shuffle...'
These three can burn the building down....I heard Clapton talking and someone brought mayer up....Clapton said "I knew John was good...but not like that "its cool to watch Clapton when he plays with john....he kind of steps back and smiles....because John is just that damm good
@@rockinglukas with a heartbreak warfare decal! This was the guitar that he used in Heartbreak Warfare! I low-key missed that guitar cuz he used to play it for Crossroads too but switched to Gibson ES-355 with a beautiful cherry finish. So happy to see that guitar out again!
If you place the pick in between your forefinger and middle finger (closer towards your knuckle) then it should be easy to retrieve it when you return to picking!
Hi Canada! Rainkid on the speaker 🔊 Just released our very first song "Rose". Check it out and give us some feedback, we would love that. We'll release more songs soon.

Zach Valencia I wouldn’t say he’s been mainstream since 2010 however that just means more for us hehe

“Do not trust a hope. It has forsaken these lands”
Don't forget Steve J. and Pino P. The trio just works.
I guess playing the bass more like Jack Bruce would be a real downer. But that is the way I love to play bass.

@@jeffstiver5040 I’ve seen the footage a few years ago, that’s some compliment to get as a guitarist.
I might get killed for this opinion, but I think this is the most talented band in Rock history.
Genius fucking bastards
definitely geniuses and all very talented but far from the best rock band hahaha come on
0:59 lol signaling to to sound guy to give him more guitar volume in his monitors.
What a great groove on a classic! I hope this version makes it on to a high quality release.
It's on his Battle Studies record
David Zedner It is, but it’s the studio version and not this particular live version. The solo is really amazing.

I need to learn that thumb/finger bounce thing he does. It sounds so cool.

@@rockinglukas it's the player, not the guitar
At first, I thought he was using a capo on the 1st fret.
Mário Barreto lol me too
I’ve been playing guitar for a decade now and I have no clue how he gets those sounds out of the guitar.
Genießen Sie Ihren Aufenthalt
Omg............... why.......too good
holy shit
I love how he hides his pick in his fingers then brings it out to solo, I gotta work on the trick
