Shout does Testing of Third Party PS3 Controllers From Amazon

- Shout House takes us through an extended journey with third party controllers that can be purchased on Amazon. There doesn't seem to be many good videos about third party or off brand PS3 controllers. Since it's only really possible to get a used PS3 controller (for a good price) some people might want to see what's out there. Except, not everyone wants to wade through the crap. Check out this video if you're interested in any of the controllers. You can also skip to a controller by using the section below the links.
Nothing to disclose about affiliation with any of the manufacturers of these controllers. GamTime TV is not in cahoots with any of them. Pure, unbiased opinions lie in wait for you ahead.

I appreciate all of the work you put into reviewing these third-party controllers. I actually bought the Prif Kontrol 1 before I saw this video. I hope it's at least satisfactory. I just need something to replace the Dual Shock 3 as I don't like the design much.

What's with the lack of quality in all this shit!?
@@josheinrich the sticks are the most important thing, I have used controllers and they do not work well for precision shooting
Hey man I just wanna say thanks for the amount of effort that clearly went into this video. I watched the whole video and thought you had to have at least a couple hundred thousand subscribers. You definitely deserve more. The quality is very good.
I like that multiple 3rd party controllers were reviewed instead of just 1 or 2.
Thanks so much for this! I'm giving my nephews an old PS3 I have but I don't have any controllers for it. I was really struggling trying to figure out which 3rd party controllers were closest to the original Sony ones. Really appreciate the work you put in.
Hey, still working on a sequel to this. I'm sorry it's taking so long. Stay tuned and I'll send you one of the controllers from that review!

Only 266 subs?! Man you deserve thousands of subscribers, the quality in this video and the effort is amazing!
You have no idea how much we need to hear that right now. We've got a lot in the works, so stick around and share to your friends! We have more controllers from Amazon, 12 to be specific. Absolutely! We have to be able to pay DS or it's a no go. Stay tuned, we're working a on an updated video.

@@ShoutHouse awesome, I'll be tuning in for sure! Any videos about getting the most of a ps3 in 2022, like games that still have functioning online multi-player, hidden gems, underappreciated games that are on the psn store and worth a purchase, maintaining & upkeep of older consoles to keep them running smoothly and working properly, games to buy before their price(s) skyrocket, pretty much anything about gaming on legacy consoles (ps3 especially) I'd be excited to check out whatever you have in store:)
Thank you dude, my original Sony controller just broke, and I didn't feel like shelling 40 some bucks on one again, so I'll be getting 2 new ones, and you got a new subscriber 👍
seriously thought you had a few thousand subscribers at the least, your videos are high quality, I'm still looking for a decent replacement for my ps3 controller, this video really helps thank you so much
This is actually perfect haha. The fact that you're showcasing Dark Souls works in my favor. I just got Elden Ring on my PC and after having sold my PS4 and PS3 for VR (rip) I didn't have a gamepad/controller to play and mouse and keyboard on Elden Ring has definitely not been a good experience.
edit: aaand the BlueLoong controller is unavailable on amazon now. Really unfortunate :(
Thanks for the detailed reviews anyways. Now I know what to avoid.

Awesome, I'm going to check the Voyee out myself soon!
I wasn't even planning on buying a PS3 controller and was thoroughly entertained by this. Do some 3rd party PS4 controllers next and see how they stack up to the OG. Or do some cheap shoes from Amazon. Or do whatever you want, I want more.

Awesome video I wish I saw this three weeks ago. I purchased the Prif controller because I'm a Xbox user and I wanted something similar to use on the PS3 Slim. I primarily play racing games, Grand Theft Auto and the Drake series. It gets the job done but I especially love the way it feels, the build quality is excellent, the rubbery finish is a nice touch.
I purchased the A-SZCXTOP last week I really like the way it feels compared to the original PS3 controller.. but it's a no-go for racing games the L1 / L2 triggers are basically buttons no range that's a no-go for racers. Going to hang on to it it may work for shooters.
Looking for another Prif because I really like it.
How has it been working for you?
Why did Sony discontinue making PS3 controllers? their are 1000 of people playing PS3 Online. I had to purchase one from Amazon for 90 Dollars and then when I received the controller it turn out to be a fake Sony Controller. Very upsetting, 1 new Official Sony Controller that is all I want.
This is why I avoid consoles at all cost. You'll never know when these companies will abandon their old users just to push a new product.

The dog was the best part of this video.
Good review, I'm looking into getting a PS3 controller for my PSVita. Their's a plugin to make them work.
Be careful! A lot of these third party PS3 controllers just don't function with the VITA TV wirelessly. I haven't tested anything with the plugin for the Vita. I keep that one clean.
to be honest the battery is really easy to replace on these controllers. I actually had a replacement battery for an older PS3 controller (wound up having water damage and it wasnt the battery), so when i finally purchased a ps3 and needed a good first party controller I wound up having to get one from Gamestop. First thing i did was clean it up and replaced the terrrible old battery that was in the controller originally. I managed to replace it the new battery that doubled the capacity of the controllers original battery. On top of the replacements being cheap, there are also a good number of controllers that have the same exact battery. For instance the Nyko Commander WiiU pro controllers use the same battery as is in the PS3 controllers.
I also appreciate the look into 3rd party controllers. I have been slowly collecting games for the PS3 now that they are relatively cheap to buy, but unfortunately i dont have a second controller. Was potentially looking at the clone controllers, but maybe a 2nd party option might be better.
All the work he puts in his videos and he has 488 subscribers he need to be at 1 million by now
Really appreciate it. The problem is my consistency. I work more than 40 a week and there's always other things to do. Hearing this sort of thing keeps me going though.
I'm desperately trying to find a replacement P3S Controller the has The Great ''Pressure sensitive Responsiveness'' (Like The Original PS3 Controller), and the doesn't have the dreaded ''DEAD ZONE'' in the Analog sticks. I Play alot of NCAA FOOTBALL and Madden and i need a controller that works in response to ''Light pressure'' which makes (the player move VERY SLOWLY!) & ''Hard pressure'' which makes (the PLAYER MOVES FAST!) It Works the same with TOTAL CONTROL PASSING as well so you're able to ''LEAD PASS''. I can confirm the easysmx (i have a red one) is really (positively) surprising, i had it for PC, now I started using it in a PS3, works like charm, I do also think that the dongle may be the secret, but the important think i that with batteries has a good weight and responds well, so big recommendation . I want to try the all black one that has built in batteries and i feel easysmx is not going to disappoint me, they won my heart with this PC / PS3 Controller. Works natively on both systems without configurations or bluetooth issues, just plug and play.
How did you connect it to PC? SCP Toolv
did the home button works? and what about fps aim feel?
@@thaiduitx is natively supported for pc as a xbox360 controller and ps3. No need of 3rd party tools.
@@LTM100123 that I cannot tell for sure, I'm not tat into fps but I can try and tell you in a moment
@@LTM100123 home button works, just not for turning on ps3, but after that it does the same. For pc also, as a normal Xbox 360 controller.
I liked how thoroughly you went through these!
I have some things to say about the EASYSMX that some of you might find useful since i've changed 2 of them. The sticks really tend to "break" after around a year of usage and they get stuck to the sides after, that means if any of you play shooter games like call of duty, you'll have problems with the sticks. When you play for a while honestly the xbox style really feels better than the usual ps3. If you havent tried it then dont start a fight saying that the ps3 style is better. As smooth as it might feel at the beginning you really start to lose it after a couple of months!
I never would start a fight! I don't even think the PS3 controller feels good. I just have such a strong connection to what a controller feels like and the games on a certain platform. Like, I really need to play on controllers that reflect the style of game if that makes sense.
Give this man a KFC Zinger Meal. Doing Gods Work. Much LOVE HOMIE!
DONT BUY THE OUBANG CONTROLLERS!!!
I bought the Oubang controllers per your review and I have to say, they are absolute garbage! You can't play ANYTHING that requires accuracy. We tried playing Borderlands and it was the jankiest controller i've ever used! The buttons aren't bad, but the sticks are trash. They work like a D-pad, not a stick. There are the 8 cardinal directions and that's it! They don't recognize rolling the stick or whatever it's called. Both contorller (different colors) had the same feel, so that's just how they're made.
I appreciate the lengthy detailed video my man, keep it up!
Oh no! I feel like maybe Oubang has a different supplier then. They seemed pretty good when I tested them. However, I really need to test the new Dualsense with the PS3
@@ShoutHouse I don't doubt your experience with them one bit. Honestly, with third party controllers, I feel everyone gets a slightly different experience with them haha But I bought 2 of them, different colors and both were horrible. The buttons were fine, but the joysticks were like taping a stick to a D-pad. Simply unusable for most games.
Mirco USB is the absolute worst USB hole of all USB holes! My Xbone port lasted 15 minutes.

I tried out a bunch of third party controllers I found in my house. I tried Gran Turismo 5 and 6, and all the controllers worked great. I guess your controllers is supported too.
You can use a PS4 controller on a PS3 but it won't 100% function on all games, found this out when I started FEAR 2 and the L2 and R2 don't work plus the ps home button never works so you still need PS3 ds to quit or turn off

The only three criteria that matter are :1. Do the sticks have normal sensitivity? 2. Do the pressure sensitive face buttons, triggers, sixaxis and rumble work?
3. Does it connect and stay connected without drifting or glitching or freezing etc.

The only Horipad that I could find is a wired controller, which is not something I am addressing.
For everyone who buys third party controllers for ps3 and play Mgs v i recommend to try the triggers because some controllers dosen't work the triggers playing Mgs v!!!!
I’ve found used controllers that are missing the usb dongle. So are these controllers basically useless without the dongle ?? Or can they somehow still be used on the ps3 or is there some sort of universal dongle out there as I’m thinking every brand of 3rd party controller has a different dongle specific to their controller ??
No. The companies sell replacements but they cost as much as a controller.
you can also change your controller battery
Here's a list of some games I tried to play them with fake controller and they didn't work
1 god of war 3
2 beyond two souls (you'll need a six axis controller for better experience)

I was in the middle of upgrading the storage and installing the latest PS3 firmware update while I came across a menu saying that I needed to connect a Dualshock 3 controller to the USB port and then press the home button on the controller to advance. Unfortunately I don't have an original DS3 controller, so I attempted to use a DS4 but came across a roadblock when the DS4 couldn't use the home button. I hope to find something worthy of having an operational home button or else I'll be out of luck.
You're going to need a legit DS3. I haven't come across any 3rd party controllers that work in the firmware.
Thanks for the video man. Made me chuckle several times. Glad to hear the worst part about the one I just bought is that it's ugly as fuck 😂
Haha! Sometimes we love our ugly ducklings more because they need it.
OK but a big difference between authentic controllers and knockoffs is that authentic ones have pressure sensitive buttons, which just about every single game uses. If you load them up in a utility program like scptoolkit, it becomes obvious which knockoffs are unworthy because they have not pressure sensitive buttons. I don't feel like you explored that completely.
Hi Bernard! That's not really the goal of these tests here. I believe we even say that we're not trying to do this very scientifically. We know there is no substitution for the real thing. So instead of trying to find something that will accomplish the impossible, we wanted to find controllers that would get you by. Something that would be inexpensive as a secondary controller or to play games in a pinch.
Very cool though. I don't think we'll be going that far with all the controllers we have in our next video, but we might break out the top three and test them in SCPTOOLKIT. Currently we're testing 12 controllers and there is no way they all deserve that much attention.
@@ShoutHouse i appreciate your response, and I believe the more attention we put on the sorry state of ps3 controllers, the more the market will react with better quality products. I definitely look forward to your next video about it.

All I see to find on Amazon/eBay are bunch of clones, knockoffs and third party PS3 controller after my PS3 controller stopped working on me. 😥😦 I still got my PS3
easysms ones recommended. the only issue may be the xbox layout, but the value is definitely there. the have also one with built in batteries. good luck!
@@ShoutHouse thank you good man!
@@ShoutHouse thanks good man! I can't find them at GameStop where I'm located or it's off brand.
Should i get the blulong? Is it just as good as the original? And does it turn on the ps3 with the p3 button?
Just get an Afterglow Wireless Playstation 3 PS3 Controller - 064-015T Ive had mine for 3 years now and it still works like brand new only downside is it uses double A batteries and you have to use a dongle.
Oh it also has a feature where you can reverse the L1, L2, R1, and R2 buttons if you don't like how they work in an fps.
AnarickTheDevil does it have sixaxis
@@lebronjamesbandwagon5970 No sixaxis sorry
@@ShoutHouse I got my first one at my local Walmart but had to get my second one from ebay because now all they have are the cheep Snakebite wired ps3 controllers.
These are the best I could find for the ones I have. www.walmart.com/ip/PDP-Afterglow-PS3-Wireless-Controller-Blue-064-015-NA-BL/197622624 - www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-PDP-Afterglow-Wireless-Controller-for-PS3-PC-Blue/163504491535?hash=item2611a08c0f:g:DmIAAOSwoURcSycX:rk:7:pf:0
Does sixaxis work properly on these alternative controllers? Only to have some fun with that part in Uncharted where is needed.
Mostly I have had no luck with them. Sorry for the delayed reply
Do any of these have pressure sensitive face buttons and L1/R1? My ds4 and DS just don't do the trick while playing the metal gear games
You literally just learned me this! I had no idea that they were sensitive. I can't answer you because I did not test for it. My apologies.
@@ShoutHouse I don't blame you, the metal gear games are probably the only ones that used it anyway. Thanks for putting in the time to look at multiple controllers and responding to comments years later, keep it up!
which controller has a very good (gyroscope/sixasix)
and vibration and PS button works and is wireless ?
None.
Would you recommend buying original PS4 controller to replace original ps3 controller? Tried it and no vibrating and no ps home button?
some games wont work with ps4 controller
What controller do you use?...you need precision in the original sony analog stick playing 1st person shooters, slight movement is important in aiming.
