I love the honesty, I am a terrible controller freak myself the one thing I really look for in a controller is the trigger feel and the amount of accuracy you can get out of the joysticks, so far XBOX One controllers have really impressed me, Xbox 360 to me have worse joysticks than the DualShock 3 and the DS4 joysticks are stiff and have bullshit travel which is annoying cause I like everything else about it.

They are ALL fake if you buy them new. It's atrocious how many websites allow these controllers be to be sold advertised as OEM Sony. It's a losing battle though.
I bought an unbranded PS3 controller (just has a P3 on the home button, so fake "Sony" text or anything) and it was actually solid. Almost two years now and it still works fine. Only issue is the L2 trigger is no longer as responsive though I'm gonna take the hit on that as I rage easily and take my anger out on it, but it still functions well. But besides that and occasional sync issues it works surprisingly ok, even in FPS, beat-em ups and fighting games, and if I actually treated it with care everything would still likely work. Comparing it to my official controller, for the most part it fairs not that bad with it. I guess it just depends on if whoever makes it actually put care into it which was probably the case here. Still using it in games that don't require L2 for a majority of things
I'm looking for a good 3rd party PS3 controller. my official one is already broken and I've been using a 3rd party PS4 controller and the problems with that is it has to be wired and the home button doesn't work so I have to constantly turn off the console to go to the home screen.
Just finally got myself a PS3 this week and cannot find a decent wireless controller anywhere locally. Maybe one of these will work, thanks for the info!
You need to try the Mad Catz controllers. The ‘MLG’ PS3 controller is shaped like the 360 but works on both. Interchangeable analog sticks and shells They’re 3rd party but they collabed with Microsoft officially on special edition controllers. In my book their just as good as the dualshock 3 analog wise
I’ve found used controllers that are missing the usb dongle. So are these controllers basically useless without the dongle ?? I like the power A wired controller. It is the best alternative I have bought. it has a great Dpad tested in MVC2 and SF3. Great face buttons. Great sticks. The controller is awkward at first. If you try to hold your fingers over the triggers it is uncomfortable. But keeping them over l1/r1 it actually is really comfortable. An lets be honest the l1/r1 buttons are used most for fps games on ps3. It does feel crazy shitty when you touch it. The weird grip feels cheap AF. But it preforms in everything from cod to fighting games. Cod took some getting used to with the deadzone. It's bigger than i like but I did adjust. I mean I adjusted to a pretty damn good level. I tried the blueloong controllers per the previous video and they where trash. I was seriously disappointed with them. Also dont bother with the Gamemon snakebite controller. The buttons feel like squishy shit. The dpad is the worst i have ever used. The sticks are pretty good. The actually layout of snakebite is pretty comfortable. To bad the rest is lacking :/.
i have that wireless power A controller because it was included in a trade with a friend for his super slim and games. i hate that piece of shit so much 🤣 it’s obviously made for an xbox player trying to adapt to playstation. the buttons/triggers stick like crazy and it constantly loses connection when playing.

So this is funny cause I had no idea my controller was a fake DualShock 3. It has rumble and felt completely fine to me so now I’m curious as to who exactly made it because I genuinely like it more than a real DualShock 3.

Hey I actually have 2 of those afterglows and they are honestly the best 3rd party controller I’ve ever bought on a console. Even my old ps2 3 party pelicans don’t hold up against those bad boys. They have like a 20 ft reach and feel pretty solid. Try to get a dongle and check it out on a pc, using it for halo infinite recently.
It pisses me off while doing it, but once it works it's great! I successfully have a slim soft modded and it allows me to play all Blu Ray region DVDs.
I found that only sony can keep up with cod. The rest are too stiff and unable to be played with cod because they don't glide and are not fast or smooth like sony controllers. Too bad they're freaking outrageously expensive. They never used to be like that.

The third party one I have now is so bad there's no name on it and it has a stupid turbo button that even when I don't press it old Call of duty games register it as cheating and disconnects me. So I use it to play new vegas and guess what it works longer and disconnects for no reason. I just want a half decent controller to play the games I wasn't allowed to as a kid.

I also intentionally bought a cheap knockoff controller as well to use for split-screen two-player games. It's a shame that it is completely impossible to find any genuine Dualshock 3's or SIXAXIS's online or anywhere anymore, new or used. That will inevitably be the case for Dualshock 4's as the PS5 continues its lifespan and the PS4 gets discontinued, so I am glad that I have two of those at least. I appreciate the reply.
I would strongly not recommend anyone to get the fake sony controller. 1. The deadzone is terrible 2. Pressing L3 while moving forwards is hard af 3. Vibration doesnt always work 4. Controller sometimes stops working but is still on locking you out from doing anything.
Bought a 2 set of Kolopc brand knockoffs off Amazon and they look original but man, playing old shooter games like Army of 2 or borderlands 2 is torture. Can't aim worth a crap.

No the flimsy feeling dualshock 3 is dogshit compared to those and even compared to the old ps1 and 2 controllers . Changing the triggers design was a dumb idea as your fingers easily slide off making it annoying to use ,not having a removable battery pack like the 360 was also a terrible idea .
IMO, the PS5 is the best one. (from personal experience, i have a dumb digital addition ps5). I’ve never liked the PS3 controller as it’s just so cheap. Not to even mention the dumb styrofoam under the motherboard which causes random inputs. I’d much rather use the PS2 and PS1 controller. Sony packed too much new technology in such an old platform of controller. But hey, it’s my own opinion, everyone has their own.

There are some caveats, if I'm not mistaken, around using a DS4 with a PS3. Maybe I'll do a video about that.
