Your videos are really very clear and informative. This F7 coupler is an awkward thing to re-install but your instruction using a jig is most helpful. However, having said that, I feel that you missed one VERY important step. - how to straighten the spring plate and correctly install it in it's holder. This is what my biggest frustration has been. I realize that this comment is somewhat later after your video release, but a follow-up on that particular step would be most helpful. KIND REGARDS., .
Just went through my collection which I purchased over 25 years ago and didn't know i bought 5 of the mid 90s models wkhich need to be lubricated. Thanks for video Iknow to disassemble, clean , and put couplers on.
Your latest video was very helpful. Both in disassembly and reassembly of the Kato F7 and in building a cradle. I also investigated the Tomix EF 120 electric locomotive and purchased one. Thank you for the demonstration and recommendation. Best wishes, Sincerely, George.
Believe him when he says, "Hold your finger on it! First time I did this on my first one I spent 3+ hours looking for that stupid gray clip. Doing a dcc upgrade.
I've found that the microtrains 2004 coupler fits great on the front pilot, but the rear one, since it is a talgo coupler, presents more of a challenge. And it's not practical to try and frame mount a coupler on the rear.
i gave up on Kato/Atlas F-series nose couplers. I just remove them and replace with MicroTrains 2004-1 pre-assembled units as soon as I get a new loco. Easy-Peasy :)

Yes, when they are tuned properly, they are amazing runners!
AMAZING JIG !! We all overthink things. Such a simple thought process. THANK YOU
@@ronhart4166 Well, I needed to do it. I just thought other people had the same problem.

Great idea about the coupler craddle. I have had the same issues. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I think it"s going to help a lot of people
Great video. One comment - why is your sound so muffled? Suggest you use a new/different microphone.
Working on it!

great video and nice train at the end! :)
I' m using my Bachmann starter set freight cars again...
Never realized how the newer models contact strips are far more difficult to reinstall compared to older Kato locomotives.
it's not a hard as the front coupler...
Very nice!
Super nice!
Ya think ya should'a made the engine cradle longer for longer engines/locomotives !?
For sure!
