This old Alco wasn't running very well, so I formulated a plan to see if I could get it to run correctly. If you want to see it running: th-cam.com/users/shorts8T3vEL8y7sQ?si=yRkxolozyLsZxMRA

luv your attitude more money than brains, just like me, you must work for the government
No, I invested in real estate.
I watched your series on this, but I missed the part where you installed the front truck, or the first 4 in the 4-4-0. I have the exact same model, cb&qrr, but my front truck hangs really loose in there and tends to pop off the track around curves. It usually doesn't cause any problems, it just looks funny. On the bachman HO 4-4-0 the front truck has a spring that serves as a contact, but also pushes the truck down onto the track. I couldnt see a spring in yours, but I'm wondering if I could install one in mine. Does the truck truly "pop in" or did you glue it up?
I’m not sure, I’ll have to look it up.
I think unpainted brass would be better, however, if its professionally painted, like I mean really professionally painted, that would be good too!
I agree, a poor paint job is not going to increase the value.
Have You N scale brass locomotives in your collection?
I have some, The RS-2 I worked on a couple weeks ago was one. I have a GP9 on my project shelf for the future.
Unpainted or painted gold brass locomotives will draw a larger group of customers. Painted ones are limited to enthusiasts of that road.
Thanks! That makes a lot of sense.
Those Mantua kits came with a little stamped steel hex wrench for the driverod screws. I bet somebody has them available.
That would be awesome!
There was a guy on ebay who sold boiler front copies for Mantua steamers. I bought one from him and it was a good copy that fit well. I bought some of those Mantua locomotives as kits, almost 50years ago. They were less than 20 dollars then. Building a kit and following the instructions taught me how to understand and maintain my locomotives. They are still good runners. Thank you for your videos.
I glad you enjoyed! I find the motor weak. I might try to find another motor.
Nice collection of brass locomotives. I have an old S scale but it doesn't run. Thanks for sharing.
You can do it! I’m sure there’s a way to get it running again. I’m trying to learn how to do motor transplants. Stay tuned to see my progress.
I'm not a huge brass fan. The real collector's models are just stupidly expensive, although they do come with automotive quality paint jobs on them
@@mustachemike802 Very cool!
I enjoyed seeing your brass collection and am looking forward to the future maintenance episodes.
@@1621billw stay tuned!
Thank you for the great video. You amaze me with the number of things you make with an old credit card.
You’re welcome. I can always find a use for them.
good work as always,i use a 9 volt battery with leeds attached
I've got to try that, thanks for the tip!
Im in possession of a bright red 1982 firebird and its tinted but also has decals and the firebird on the hood is green with green, blue and yellow stripes is this a more rare ponitac hot wheels? I havent been able to find pics that match it online
Most die cast cars have a numbered production. They get sold, and that’s it. Over time they all become very hard to find in mint.
Awesome video! the only thing is the audio being too soft
Just got a new phone, its all better now.
Thanks for the video! Mike in DFW
I had fun making it!
Snoot
Fo sho!
Nice job
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes and yes. Keep up the fantastic work. I have learned more from you over the last year than my whole life. I love emscale and watching your repair videos. I actually have become very good at repairing and scale locomotives by watching the videos. Thank you so much
Thanks! I am glad my videos have been helpful.
Great job!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Sound and picture is awesome. great pick ups. Thanks for sharing.
I have owned that RS-2 for about 5 years, did not know how to fix it.
Love your videos, camra looks great, The close ups are really sharp. I watched many of your videos and just started building my own small n scale layout. I put a few videos up on my page. I need some lighted passenger cars and I'm wondering if they will light up ok on my DCC system or will I need to add a bridge rectifier and capacitor to them?We have a train swap meet coming up and I'll be looking for some to buy. Thanks Rick
I have Kato Passenger cars with Kato lighting kits. So far, they work with DCC.
Medical tubing works when not alined.
I'm going to try that.
No no! Measure trice per slice,
Fo Sho!
you could always use some lapping compound for valves to help open up the bushings.
I might work…
If you add for example an ESU 58741 decoder, do you have to isolate the contacts with caption tape? Thanks in advance
That is good advice!
It was actually a question, do you have to isolate the long copper strips on each side when installing for example an ESU 58741 decoder?
Yes for sure, just like an E8 or a F40PH.
Yes, for sure. Just like an E8 or an F40PH
Audio is way better I think. I like the normal view versus the automatic focus. Love watching you work on those locos...old and new. Great video again
Thanks! I am having fun with the new camera and all the features it has.
You can always use one of the b units painted up as penn central to run with your PC locos as they often did.
@@michaelzalewski2532 Yes, that is very true. I have seen NYC locos with Pennsy as well.
I always thought the videos you made in the past were of excellent quality, but seeing the results with your new phone/camera, all I can say is WOW.. The picture is so clear, the closeups are amazing. You are going to have a lot of fun experimenting with your new toy. Thanks for the video, and I look forward to many more fantastic videos.
There is a lot to learn with this new camera.
Audio is much better. Thanks for upgrading.
I am glad you think so.
Les détails sont vraiment mis en valeur avec la nouvelle caméra. La qualité est vraiment top! 👍
Oui, ça fais du bien!
Nice follow up review. The original review really showcased the Rolling Thunder sound because it was stereo and most likely under the layout or the speakers were closer to where you were filming. The latest review didn’t have the impact on the video as the previous one, probably because it was hooked up to you surround sound system. It probably sounded great in the room but not as much in the video.
Fo sho!
That was a great review. I just picked up 10 BLI Paragon 4 Big Boys and was thinking how great they would sound on the Rolling Thunder. Thanks for the demonstration. I know it catches the sounds on start up and the engine sounds but does it pick up sounds like the bell, the whistle, and other sounds? If you use your own subwoofers, do you need to have a amplifier also?
I hooked it up to a home theater system now. I can control the mid range as well as the woofer separately. It picks up the chuff, and the horn, but it does not pick up the bell.
That’s actually good, most times the bell is annoying on videos, lol.
Very nice pic and audio
Thanks!
Congratulations on the new iPhone, the close ups you showed were excellent, sharp and clear. The new cinematic mode looks great but it will take some practice to keep what you want in focus as it’s moving. Nice job on the repairs.
Yes, there is lots to this camera, keeping moving trauns in focus is a challenge...
Great video….you always amaze me with your do-it-yourself ideas. bravo Thank you so much
I am always glad to help others with their model trains.
The gray unit is a dash 9, the CP rail is an AC4400CW.
For sure!
Thanks for sharing. I bought ten of those Kato GP 50s. They would not run from the beginning. I sent them back to Kato to be repaired and Kato sent them back to me broken. They did not know how to fix their own engines. So I placed them in a box and that’s where they have been since 1993. Now you offer me some hope of getting them running . 😎 Joe
Just do one at a time, start with the motor, and keep adding parts!
Excellent job! Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Wow
So much fun!

Amazing and wonderful, thank you. I learn something everytime I watch you. Thank you so much for sharing and helping all of us.
It’s always fun to learn new techniques!
Cool
Super Cool!
I have one of these in the union Pacific up model 806 runs like a beast. I’m running 30 degree. Kato. The wheels on mine just are so loose they will fall off sometimes if I’m not carefull. I bought mine on eBay It looks like it’s had some use, but it’s beautiful condition.. I wish I could fix my wheels. They are too loose.oh and I love your channel
I use a little bit of Crazy glue to keep the wheels in place.

Outstanding results! Thanks for sharing.
It is always fun to work on these old trains.
Great find !🚂
Yes, I'm having fun with this!
Thank you for the video. I love watching you do your magic with the old and broken trains. If one of mine became disabled, I am fortunate to be able to buy a new one, or send it to you, and let you work your magic.
It is always good to help people with their old trains.
Once again your skills shine.
It was fun to fix this.
@watchtrainsnow1099 well done. Thank you for the video.
It's nice seeing an HO layout for a change, thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank for your videos. you gave me the confidence to install my own drop in decoder into my N scale Bachmann 0-6-0, Then I did all my others. Cheers from Vancouver Island!
That is awesome, I love that you were able to fix those up!
Great video. One comment - why is your sound so muffled? Suggest you use a new/different microphone.
Working on it!
