- When I heard the Detecting the Heartland group was planning a metal detecting hunt at a 90 year old scout camp I was stoked. Almost a century of kids dropping coins and losing buttons, pins, rings, neckerchef slides, and so much more this event is going to be a blast. Then I found out that Nokta is one of their sponsors and Doug and I are huge fans of the Nokta line of detectors so there was no way we were missing this hunt. So off to Illinois we go along with 200 other detectorists for the ultimate of Scouting missions!

It was a beautiful weekend for such an outstanding hunt at my former Scout Camp. It was so nice meeting you,Jason and Doug. Love the dog tag, but it's actually pronounced Jo Davis...it was a typo when they Named the county back in 1827 and was never fixed. Was named for Col. Joseph Daveiss who died in the war of 1812.
I think there were a couple other gents at the event that also camped there in their younger years. Glad you made it!

I've enjoyed the DTH hunts, in fact my first one was where I won entry by making a "Gold Dance" video and won!! You won't meet a finer couple than Casey and Mindy, along with Jon White, mr Crazy Spider!!, and all thier friends!! I will be there next year, for sure!!

Looks like it was a great event! One day. One day I’ll be able to make it to one of those. I stay busy coordinating the Gold camp detecting events, and never save any money to go to others.

Freaking me out Doug, I know the Crest moto too. Probably because it was on TV commercials (In black and white) in my younger years.
After successfully reciting the scout oath, Doug rattled that of. I thought he was making it up until I saw the graphic Jason found. 😂
Jason, I remember reading a article in Treasure Magazine in the mid 1980’s that a cereal company had bought a hoard of Chinese coins and put a coin in each cereal box. The question to this Q&A article was why are so many Chinese coins being found in the US. I was wondering as well because I had found several of them myself. It made sense to me. I enjoy your channel, at least for a laugh sometimes. Good luck 🍀 and be safe.

Hi Quarter Hoarder squad! I recently started metal detecting ($50.00 metal detector, so it's not great.) The oldest thing I've found is a 1947 penny, so I'm pretty terrible at this. I live in Kansas so there's a lot of good history that took place, but I don't know which locations I should detect at. I've detected my backyard and have found nothing great. Thanks for all the good content!
