Sailors Hornpipe Highland dance competition during 2022 Lonach Gathering Highland Games in 2022

Competitors in the Sailor's Hornpipe Scottish dance heats during the 2022 Lonach Gathering and Highland Games. This was at Bellabeg in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on Saturday 27th August 2022. The Lonach Gathering and Highland Games is one of Scotland’s most iconic traditional summer events, held on the forth Saturday in August each year.
The Sailor's Hornpipe was originally a Celtic dance and is one of the Scottish National Dances, originally played on a hornpipe rather than bagpipes. It is also one of the few Highland Dances that has its own unique costume for competitions and the moves imitate many shipboard activities typical in the days of wooden ships. You may recognise rope hauling, climbing the shroud lines, and others sailing activities.

Oh, I don't like what the sailor on the right is doing.. she's really good, but that's not "the dance"... She's doing some "Irish dance" things that don't belong in a Highland Dance competition... I hope the judges saw that as well. (She's probably from somewhere else, Ireland maybe?)

The second step she’s doing is pretty new (last update to the hornpipe handbook, I think), but it is a valid step.

​@Millenimorphose The 2nd step the middle dancer did was the Look-Out. I didn't however recognize the next (3rd step) and certainly not the arm movements. Was that the one you were referring to? If valid, what's the step called?

Besides, since when did "Clumsy Lover" (just a stupid show-off Canadian tune from Neil Dickies' 1980's book that sold a million copies) become the standard for "Sailor's"? Thereien lies the folly.
