- On a perfect summer day I hiked the 15 mile round trip from Sunrise Lakes Trailhead near Tanaya Lake in Yosemite National Park, CA in summer 2023. Clouds Rest is my favourite hike in Yosemite!

I’ve been to Half Dome twice and Clouds Rest twice and I have to say I like going to Clouds Rest, incredible views without the crowds. It is like going on the top of a giant dinosaur.
Clouds Rest beats out Half Dome for me every time!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it. Im hoping to get back up CR as soon as Tioga Rd reopens for the season :)
Thank you. Your hike brought back fond memories. I got to sleep on top of Clouds Rest once. Great experience.
Thank you for the trip report, Rob. Planning on doing this hike in two weeks. Being one of my favorite Yosemite hikes, this will be my 2nd time. Last time was mid-July after a wet winter (2010-2011) and at the trailhead, I had never encountered so many bloodthirsty mosquitoes in my life.
This looks very familiar. I did it about 2 weeks after you. :)
Its such a great trail!
Thanks for that video and even more insight into the spine section! 👍🏻
Thanks for watching, that section is my absolute favourite!
Great video! Heading out to Clouds Rest tomorrow & this gave me a great sense of what to expect, thanks for the insight!
Nice hike Rob, Yosemite is my all time favorite National Park. I am pleased to see you carry an emergency satellite communication device That is a good example for other hikers.
It gives me so much peace of mind, kinda like a comfort blanket! Thanks for watching :)
Great video Rob, thank you - love your channel!
Great thoroigh video, ibfo on trail conditions, distance details & advice. How do you like your satellite communications device? Do you have suggestions brands & have u ever had to use it?
What was the app you suggested? All Trails?
How do you manage the altitude?
I don't usually find it that bad, I drink lots of water and take electrolyte candies with me :)
Ay what time did you start your hike?
Trail head by 6 am foo
