    that was amazing thank you for this video , I am french and my aunt and uncle had a bakery when I was growing up ,some of my best memories are from visiting the bakery where my uncle baked the bread , later when my cousin (his son) became adult he learned to be a pastry chef , my aunt took care of the customers in the front store and sometimes , when I was a teenager ,I would go spend a few days helping during the summer vacation , we lived in the south of france and it was very much a family business and Oh! the smell!! :) it was like a magical place to me

    Many years ago, just a year before the fall of the iron curtain, I entered a small bakery in Bad Hersfeld (West Germany). An unforgettable experience. The employees were wearing a white coat, like pharmacists. The walls were covered with shelf cases, where the countless types of loaves of bread were placed. I love bread, so I felt like in Wonderland.😻

    One thing that can only be mentioned in a video about a traditional German bakery where they bake their own bread unfortunately and is very hard to describe: the smell.
    I would advise everyone to visit such a bakery for this experience alone. It will be one of the most pleasant smells one will ever experience in one's life - except for the sourdough section perhaps(not pleasant at all!😂)

    I don't want to decrease the overall admiration for German bakeries, but this bakery shown here is on the top end of a health scale.
    The average German bakery will sell just as many types of bread, but only about one of the breads would be organic, and one wholemeal. The rest would be baked with non-organic and average ingredients. Also, there aren't many bakeries left in Germany that forego additives. It just takes too much knowledge and time and ethics. Most of the bakeries in Germany use additives and are part of chains by now, sadly enough.

    • @OurGabledHome
      @OurGabledHome  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right! Most bakeries unfortunately only finish-bake and many breads contain a plethora of additives. That is why I thought this bakery is so special because they bake bread like we do it at home. Thank you for your nice comment 😊 ~ Anja

    No need to call it an organic bakery with it being in Germany. Its not in the United States where laws allow chemicals to grow food products.

      @OurGabledHome  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, conventional German bakeries use a lot of chemicals, too 🙁 ~ Anja
