I wasn't allowed to go outside or really have friends as a child and Final Fantasy 9 was my escape. Walking through the overworld of Gaia made me feel like I was outside with a group of friends I never had. I'm 32 now and i still listen to this song quite often when I'm going through it. It gives me so much comfort. Thank you for sharing your beautiful rendition of this song.
Im 36 and the only peace in my life ive lived alone this entire time has come from the music of Final fantasy, I know the music from every FF ever made better than I know anything really...Its saved my life, and I wake up every morning to it, I look at it in a pretty powerful way, and thank the universe for speaking to me this way, to keep me going.
My father used to beat me and my mother. Final Fantasy IX was my refuge and my salvation. The irony is that it was my father himself who bought me this game, not because he was a fan of the series, but because he simply wanted to buy me the newest game on the market at the time...
I'm glad that you're still here. I didn't have many friends I could outside with where I lived, and my house felt lonely and overwhelming. Music was always my escape and Final Fantasy was my refuge too. Being able to feel embraced and part of the team made everything bareable, even with how lonely life was. It's a warm nostalgia for me now, and something I share with my younger relatives when I can.
You know when music gives you tingles for some reason? I think it's nostalgia propelling oxytocin across the relevant mental connections you made when you were young. Something like this comes on and it gives you a physical reaction and it's hard not to get overwhelmed. It's actually like a brief moment of being on MDMA and you're just happy without it being about anything specific. I've been listening to this lady's extended mixes for the last couple of months at it really helps me focus. My work ring tone is Freya's theme lol.

Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaame! Although, I made the huge mistake of lending my original copy of FF7 to a friend and she lost it. I repurchased it for like $50 or something on Ebay. This was back in the 2000s. Now the digital version is like $10 lmao
@@Harpsibored My thing with the digital copies are when the stores go down those copy are just gone. People pirate them and keep copies but for the old games I try my best to get the physical. Even though my PS1 hasn’t turned on in like a year 😂
I liked this track so much that I leveled it to the maximum just to enjoy it fully (and you realize that things are not going well when you finally have the most powerful airship in the game but the world map has a worrying song and more fog than in Po Valley).

Ahh thank you for the suggestion, I'm flattered you think people would watch! Someone else here also suggested that, but unfortunately, here's the situation..........I'm in a tough spot because I have tendonitis in my left thumb/wrist area (which is pretty crucial for directional stuff in gaming). I'm concerned both playing the harp and gaming might be too much for me. So at the moment I'm not gaming at all, so I can use my wrist energy on fixing my harp technique to reduce tension. If I took a break from the harp for a bit, then I might be able to do a Let's Play, but it's a one-or-the-other scenario for now. I gotta think about it 😅 Maybe sometime in the future!

That we never find out who that woman with the husky voice really is has always irked me. Is it an Alexandria soldier? Would Zidane be attracted to her or is it just her voice that sounds sexy? Something for a remake to expand upon I think... I always explored the map. Got to call the shop woman all the way to Dali gate to buy medicine you don't need. Got to meet Morris and talk about coffee and model ships. Also, I listened to your version of this while I was sitting on a hill during a hike.

I don't know why but FF9 is one of my least favourite of the series. After 7 and 8, 2 incredible games, 9 just didn't deliver in the same way. Having said that, the music was still on point. Another great post. ❤
@Harpsibored Lol, I get so much stick for it. There are elements of it that I really love, but the bar was set very high with 7 and 8. They absolutely nailed it with 10, though. Still, there's no denying the great music, and I'm always happy to hear you play it.

@@Harpsibored Yeah, I definitely understand, I am a writer and I'm having serious stiffness in my wrists for extended sessions with my hands in the same position so I sometimes I can't game either, but it would be cool to see you play any of the FFs and see content more based on your personality since you seems very fun and engaging. Love your channel anyways.
Combination of both. For overall melody/harmony I usually just play by ear, but for a song like this that requires a very specific sequence of notes in the background, I like to check piano synesthesia videos or sheet music to double check lol

FF9 is the last OG final fantasy where they went back to the roots - tons of gear and abilities and a massive world.
I have to say I do love that the classes are all fixed for the characters AND that their roles are integrated into the story. Reminds me of FFIV. 💖

I don't know why but FF9 is one of my least favourite of the series. After 7 and 8, 2 incredible games, 9 just didn't deliver in the same way. Having said that, the music was still on point. Another great post. ❤

@Harpsibored Lol, I get so much stick for it. There are elements of it that I really love, but the bar was set very high with 7 and 8. They absolutely nailed it with 10, though. Still, there's no denying the great music, and I'm always happy to hear you play it.

Ahh oops I saw you mentioned that in another post, sorry I hadn't replied! I'm in a tough spot because I have tendonitis in my left thumb/wrist area (which is pretty crucial for directional stuff in gaming). I'm concerned both playing the harp and gaming might be too much for me. So at the moment I'm not gaming at all, so I can use my wrist energy on fixing my harp technique to reduce tension. If I took a break from the harp for a bit, then I might be able to do a Let's Play, but it's a one-or-the-other scenario for now. I gotta think about it 😅
@@Harpsibored Yeah, I definitely understand, I am a writer and I'm having serious stiffness in my wrists for extended sessions with my hands in the same position so I sometimes I can't game either, but it would be cool to see you play any of the FFs and see content more based on your personality since you seems very fun and engaging. Love your channel anyways.
Question, do you read music or play purely by ear? I'm really curious.
Combination of both. For overall melody/harmony I usually just play by ear, but for a song like this that requires a very specific sequence of notes in the background, I like to check piano synesthesia videos or sheet music to double check lol
