I love when the bass guitar instrumental kicks in at 1:28 followed by the choir vocals. Takes me straight back to being a carefree 90s kid, filled with wonder.
Yes! I’d say this game is plain incredible on the first disc (and while we stay on the Mist Continent), still very great on the second, and after that it becomes a bit incoherent in its style and mood but retains most of its greatness due to the incredibly strong start and the emotional core of the game. And indeed the first couple of hours are some of the most memorable of any game I’ve ever played.
@@Mahtijanis I don't think is incoherent in style and mood, the game choose this artstyle to make contrast for the themes it talks about, like death, meaning purpose etc.
I would play this theme as a kid. I would literally do the same thing on my overheated ps1 ;go into the room after saving and leave my game on all night
I had a Super Nintendo before my brother and I could afford the first playstation. We used it as we did our SNES, on the floor, controllers in front of the TV. We had a carpet, and kid us wound up messing up our system. I have been a life long fan of final fantasy, some of the best music you can relax to.
Those artificial digitally rendered Avian Noises are bloody impressive for 2001...this is a hypnotic and powerful piece, my eyes are closed and I am LITERALLY in the 'Evil' forest, which to me never seemed truly evil but rather misunderstood, it seems like a tranquil and restful place❤
Evil Forest is my favorite area in the game. Not to say the rest of the game goes downhill or anything, as there are dozens of memorable areas and scenes throughout the game, but there's just something about the danger of the woods, the mystique of the flower monsters, and of course, this impeccable, outstanding music. FF9 has the best OST in the series and this track is one of my many citations.
It's before you know much at all about the world, after a big crash with all the characters you know scattered to the wind, and right before the first real boss battle. Truly the pinnacle of mystique.
It does a fantastic job not only being a tutorial dungeon and carrying the plot forward, but introducing the affects of the mist on living things tying into Garland's plans regarding the soul cycle saving his world, etc. While FF has had great foreshadowing in the past, I think FF9 was masterful at it. Of course having a great pay off for it helps too. 😊 So, yeah, I can definitely see why it's your favorite. Mine is definitely Memoria though. The way everything comes together where memories are made manifest is just so cool to me.
I used to fall sleep to this track as a kid. To get rid of the ambient effects, I'd pop the disc tray open before they loaded in lol. Things are a lot easier these days.
This game and its soundtrack are just so peak for me. It took me on such a journey and made me feel so many different ways, that I wouldn't have even known were possible for a game if not for this moment of brilliance from every mind involved in bringing the vision into existence. To this day listening to anything from the game gives me chills, especially this track.
@@JoeTheToucan I theorize that this is SQEX's absolute love child. You know when all the planets align when a group of people, like a band get together with all the right people and change history because every well written, ethereally composed and perfectly coded aspect went right into this one. Perfect team, perfect Nobuo Uematsu, perfect Sakaguchi... All running like the world's smoothest engine to create such a timeless classic. I will forever die on this hill believing that every single atom and soul were in perfect harmony throughout this games whole making. Hands down.
Just so people understand my comment, what Frankeh has done here is really cool, there are infinite other uploads of this which sound shite, Frankeh has not only included the ambient sounds of the Owls and stuff, but also professionally looped the audio at the exact seamless point, which nobody else has appeared to have bothered doing. This has always been one of my fave Uematsu pieces, it conveys such an incredibly huge amount of ATMOSPHERE! Thanks Frankeh.
lol love u actually recorded the game and sat there on the screen. I just did the Excalibur 2 and moonstone run same time with Steiner freya eiko team. Good stuff ❤
ty for this! one of my favorite tracks from an incredible OST, and what I consider to be one of the best forest themes for any game! the forest sounds definitely make a difference.
20?!!? I grind alone with Zidane til 7, then kill off and strip Blank later and fire nuke the endless 3-4 plant monsters at a time with Vivi til everyone is 7s/8 😳
@@princessmagical Yeah, but with Blank he never returns. There IS some kind of correlation with his or Marcus' stats with Eiko later on...somehow. It was wild when I learned it, but blank was sucking up the XP by 1/4th in the forest :P
weird request but like, do you think you could do this with the dialogue before the first beatrix fight? i've been debating doing it myself because all the extensions of sword of doubt disappeared
Ah, I see. Like when the burmecian soldier runs up on her and freaks out when he figures out who she is? I possibly could... only Id have to speed run in fast motion all the way there since I dont make multiple saves... where would you want me to stop the dialogue so the rain and music could continue?
@@Frankeh yeah exactly that! the dialogue box where he's like "Beatrix?!", so you can appreciate the rain and music and all. i've been wanting to use it for my dnd campaign lmao
Zidane and the frog are having a staring contest

God, I LOVE this game SO much. The first few hours were SO atmospheric.

Having just beat IX for the first time yesterday, absolutely agree
I get lost in the idea of this game. Also I really dealt I was in Lindblum

It's been 23 years since I first heard this music. Back then it was daily life.
Now it's a foggy memory
it's probably the Evil Misty Rebirth that does not let you see clearly.
"As long as we rememmmberrrr"
Don't you mean *froggy* memory? 🐸
I would play this theme as a kid. I would literally do the same thing on my overheated ps1 ;go into the room after saving and leave my game on all night
These moves make people legendary.
Same here bro! Those were the days.
i did the same thing with the Chrono Cross opening.

Did this with Find your Way on my FF8 on PS1

The best Final Fantasy.

Yeah man, this entire area encapsulates why high fantasy is so amazing. It's got the mystery, fear of the unknown, and ADVENTURE!
It certainly was one of my favorite portions of the world - and I enjoyed the entire game!
The first few hours of this game leading up to Lindblum were filled to the brim with intrigue and adventure.
This is one of the prettiest musical theme is any game ever.
This gives me the same feeling as Resident Evil 1 Safe Room Theme!
I can listen for hours :)))))))))
Final Fantasy 9 was and is such a special game with such memorable characters with really great character arcs. Great storytelling.
It’s truly amazing that this is one of the first songs you hear in the game. FF9 is the best.
Zidane: "I've got to rescue the Princess, right away! But first, some me time."

One of the best Final Fantasy Audio uploads on the Tube...! Deserves way way more views👍👍👍👍👍

Its a masterpiece
Try pairing this up with Lewis Casson's reading of Alfred Lord Tennyson's Merlin and the Gleam....you'll be blown away.
I absolutely love this track.
Thankfully there's two places in the game you hear this awesome track: Evil Forest and Pinnacle Rock on Disc 2 this music gives me so much nostalgia
So relaxing and nostalgic. Thanks uploader!
Something very special about this game and score
lol love u actually recorded the game and sat there on the screen. I just did the Excalibur 2 and moonstone run same time with Steiner freya eiko team. Good stuff ❤
1:49 a 2:12. Sonido clasico de nobuo uematsu desde el primer final fantasy, en cada entrega tenia sonidos asi. La cancion completa es maravillosa.
You're right. It reminds me of 7.
Omg this sound is giving me a goosebump ❤️💙
Thank you for uploading this! I could just sit and listen forever!
guys, try the moguri mod, it enhances all backgrounds and ads ps1 fonts. It´s awesome!
Please make some more. I love how you included the intro of the stage.
Just love it . Thanks for putting it with game sound . One of my childhood games.
this is the 'silence before the storm' of ffix
Thank you for putting this together, I listen often
One of the highlights of the game

This was not just a game it teached manu things 😊
Excellent work, my dude!
Thank you for this great upload.
Christmas Morning in the year 2000. Anyone else?
I remember picking this game up in 2001, fell in love with the soundtrack and story. Perfect game imo
Christmas Morning in 2003. My brother's copy of it technically but shortly, I got into it and it became my all time favorite FF game.
Wage packet from mall cleaning in Tunbridge Wells....in October 01' my life went a bit weird after that😅
Best place to get to lvl to 20 and get ahead of the game. 😎
20?!!? I grind alone with Zidane til 7, then kill off and strip Blank later and fire nuke the endless 3-4 plant monsters at a time with Vivi til everyone is 7s/8 😳
Impressive! I think 8 is as far as I got. 20 is definitely very prudent though.
I never kill off any characters. I always use a phoenix down if a character dies or use the Life spell.

I level 1 until Eiko otherwise she misses out on lots of magic stones. My Eiko is always super OP haha
This is genius
Personally my favorite is at Pinnacle Rocks due to the actual peacefulness but I guess this one DOES have the ambience.
True
Also has the story of Joseph is based off of Josef from Final Fantasy 2.
perfeito demais
I allways was thinking i left some secrets in that forrest when first time leaving there.

This theme reminds me of something straight out of Xenogears. Not sure why.
