@@dpyro7810 Thank you for the video it helped me a lot! It's good it went well for you! I'm sure you'll pass with no problem, now.. wish me luck for tomorrow😭
It's so nice that a professional like yourself thinks that 15 minutes are needed in order to prepare and structure you writing. I have always believed so, but everyone just kept telling me : that's way too much, even my teacher. If I plane for 15 minutes I then find myself having very clear ancd concise ideas, I find myself knowing what to write, what words (even high level and formal words) to use. I believe it's essential. However, Perhaps it's better to devote 15 minutes to planning, 25 minutes to writing and just 5 minutes to checking the text for any possible mistakes and going over it
I am still waiting for the specific parts of the writing (essay, report, etc.)! Pleaseeee, do not forget to make those videos. Thanks in advance, teacher.
Hey Ben! Tomorrow and the next day I have my advanced exam and I'm awfully nervous, as I haven't had too much time to prepare myself, but I hope I will be able to pass it using some of your tips. During this last week your videos have been a blessing for me and I really appreciate your love for teaching, so thank you very much! I will update you about how my exam goes, wish me luck!
Oh I thought I had already replied! I got a 201 overall score! I think I was extremely lucky with the exam, because it felt easier than I expected! Ben’s videos definitely helped!
It's a real pleasure to watch your videos on such a serious topic like passing the CAE. Love the "easy to follow" way you deliver the important information. Also, thank you for your tip on practising writing with store and improve website, will certainly follow your advice. Keep up with great videos!
Hello BEn, I´m an English teacher Spanish native and I have found such an amazing advices in your videos, you have such a nice ability to explain a subject. I really enjoy your videos. Keep going
its kinda funny when you said that 2 months its little time. Its monday and my exam its on friday, i found out last week that the writing has different types of compositions, I tought it was only essays. Thats why im here lol
Hi. I love these videos! My job is to help students to prepare for exams at different levels and I get so many valuable tips from you. Thank you! One question please on the Language section, you mentioned grammar, vocabulary and accuracy, but I was wondering how important punctuation is considered to be in the C1?
It's relatively important. It's not specifically assessed but bad punctuation may affect the flow of the composition and also the organisation. I recommend you watch my interview with Frank Carrizo (part 2) in which discuss that very question
I'm 3 months away from the exam and I'm freaking out about the writing and speaking, I practice a lot but im not getting better at all. At this point I'm just relying on my reading and use of english strengths to rise my average
Thank you Ben. I just came cross your channel and noticed that it is a video of 2021. I am wondering if you are still hosting the telegram groups. I would appreciate if you can let me into one of your students groups.
I recommend that you write a rough draft of what you want to include in each paragraph in order to structure the composition in an ordered and logical way. That should be part of the planning.
Thanks for the great tips ! I have one question though: since I have a terrible handwriting and my italics is little more than a scrubble, do you think examiners would take issue with me writing in capitals? would it penalize me ? Thank you in advance !
Hi! Thanks for your videos. They are very informative. I have a question. Hope you could help me. I only saw in the Cambridge Advanced 1 book in the first exam that they give the options to write a letter, a report and again a letter. So basically, if I only learn to develop two tasks (letter and report) and they decided to repeat one of them (proposal) and the other one is a review, I will not be able to answer that part 😔 That only happens in one test on that book . That not happens in Cambridge Advanced 2, 3 and 4 books. Also in Advanced Trainers 1 and 2 books all the tasks are different. Do you know if that was a mistake on that book or I could expect to see two tasks or maybe three tasks repeated in Writing part 2? 😕
Thank you Ben! Just to make sure-for FCE it's more or less the same regarding essay and 1 other choice of writing, isn't it? I think only the number of words required are different...
I'm taking it in a little bit more than a month from here and I think I'm doing pretty well, what I'd like to know is if there's an specfic limit for the words you can exceed on your writings, for example, will my marks be negatively affected if I write 9 words more than the maximum of 260?
You will not be penalised for writing more or fewer than the recommended words unless you include irrelevant content or you don't complete the task (ie. The target reader is not fully informed).
Yes. Really, you only need to practise two of the tasks to be certain that at least one will appear in the exam. However, I recommend you practise them all
Hi professor, I took my CAE last week. I need to ask you something only for peace of mind: 1.- It turns out that during my writing, looking back on it, I didn't use that many connectors, such as, nevertheless, on the one hand...on the other hand, to sum up, firstly, secondly, therefore...you name it. I employed an appropriate vocabulary required for the level along with the appropriate structure, though. 2.- The second issue is esthetical, unfortunately, due to your nerves that may play against you, I had certain pen-made blurs and the use of a corrector pen was not allowed. At least, my writing is perfectly readable. My question is: Am I going to be penalized for that? Hope not. Greetings and Thanks in advance.
I just took the exam and forgot answering part 2. I was in a rush and it completly got out of my head so I only got the time to write a few sentences. Will it impact severly my score?
maybe you should use an essay example for next time to explain better... I watched this video because I though you were going to talk about, words we can use, how to do the intro, etc. but you spent all the time talking about... things that most of us know already
Thanks for your feedback. As the title says, the video is an overview of the writing paper of the exam. It's not meant to be a detailed explanation (there are plenty of other videos on TH-cam that do that). Also, I believe that many people don't know everything that I mention in the video.... it's great that you do, however, and I'm sorry you wasted your time.

If you writing was legible, there won't be any problem.
As for the use of connectors, it's difficult to say without seeing the writing.
