      Exactly! I don't understand why guitarists are so competitive. People who do this are just advanced players who are attempting to jam with you and elaborate on your ideas, like how jamming works. For some reason if you're fairly advanced, people seem to prefer you would have never touched their ideas and instead played completely unrelated shred, which is actually way more offensive.
      By elaborating on an idea they're signaling that they find it a valid idea worth expanding on and writing around.

    TH-cam has opened my eyes to the realization that there are a ton of people out there with amazing guitar chops. Like to the point where seeing another 18 year old kid who can shred like Steve Vai is almost boring now. I’m far more impressed by someone’s compositional capabilities and overall creativity.

    • @cyntdestroyer69xd
      @cyntdestroyer69xd หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is why Deftones and Sleep Token are popular now. They may not have the greatest, most technical riffs, but they have amazing compositional skills. Composition would always be above shredding - Hendrix became popular because he also had revolutionary composition skills.

      @troysmithfr ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Slow doesn't automatically equate to "feeling." The tempo does not and should not dictate what your "soul" can do. If it's boring, then it's boring.

    • @papablue3015
      @papablue3015 ปีที่แล้ว

      @troysmith7713 is not my saying! Heard it from someone famous and a professional player about 40ish years ago! Page,iommi,Beck,SRV, Moore??? Possibly? Sorry, I don't remember?

    • @flashraylaser157
      @flashraylaser157 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      False. Souls don't exist and they're both just demonstrations of creativity, composition, control, and technique.
      Use of rests, space, tight phrasing at low tempos, creative note choices, and masterful vibrato is also technique.

    I love my Mexico built strat it’s black with mother of pearl pick guard. I call her Pearl. It was made in 1998. I was like nine when this guitar was made. Pearl is 25 years old and beautiful in and out. I purchased this guitar locally from a old lady who’s husband passed away the man that passed name was Al. He had a lot of great and cool things even classic muscle cars, drum sets, and a plethora of other guitars and instruments. I purchased Pearl for 300 hundred US dollars which was a fantastic deal and I knew she was pricing it as a Squire. I told her this and she thanked me and when I asked how much do you want for it now as they go for a grand at the least. She told me 300 and I bought it on the spot. Even though it’s not a vintage American Strat it was amazing to me and will probably be my favorite as I got to know Al and how cool of a person he must of been. Its all in the hands!!

    When I first started playing, I could kinda sorta play Dust In The Wind. So I'm checking out the acoustic room and I'm trying my hardest to play it and the guy across the room starts playing it perfectly and staring at me weirdly.
    It was a weird moment.

    • @jackhaugh
      @jackhaugh ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That sort of thing happens in guitar stores all the time. They probably were not so subtly trying to tell you that you’re playing it wrong and trying to show you the correct way. I’ve had it happen to me numerous times.
      I once had a group of 3 20 something’s; 2 guys and a girl, outright laughing at me in the acoustic room of a Guitar Center. I’m in my early 30s. I wasn’t cexactly sure what they were laughing at, but it was clearly directed at me as I was trying out a pretty nice Taylor. The one of the 3 that could actually play guitar then pics up a guitar and starts playing “Hey there Delilah” with a look on his face like he’s playing the hardest song in the world. I tried not to play while he was playing, but he kept picking up guitar after guitar and trying them out. I just started playing over him and he goes “Could you keep it down, I’m playing actual acoustic guitar songs here. You keep playing electric songs on acoustic.”
      I had been playing Hey Joe. Most people have only heard the Hendrix version and assume it’s the original. It’s not.
      I informed this kid the original was written by Billy Roberts and was indeed played on acoustic, and that I’d be more than happy to go outside with him to teach him some manners.
      I’m not really sure what that was all about. I’m pretty sure “Hey There Delilah” was the only song he could play because it’s what he played with every guitar he picked up…

    I totally built a parts caster super strat out of a starcaster body, lol! Put a classic vintage fender stamped full block tremolo, double rail humbucker in the bridge position, roasted maple neck with a bone nut in the strat headstock shape. Locking machines head tuners. The body is heavier then most basswood, so dont know the body wood material? But it's got a great sound for a department store strat thats not a squire brand. Got the classic sunburst look. I absolutely love it. Buddy of mine threw it my way for 40 bucks and I just went upgrade crazy on it and turned it into a versatile all around guitar.

I have seen guys playing, usually solos and with anything except a Gibson I often see them switching the pickups as they are ripping but it has been rare for me to see someone ripping on a Gibson switch pickups mid solo. right of the top I think of Prince at the rock hall switching his tele a couple of times or Dave Murray from Iron Maiden on his strats. On gibsons the pick up switch seems to be in an inconvient place for easy switching unlike on fenders.
