    XTONE Pro DOES P.C.!, it can switch to the MIDI PC (Program Change), I quote the manual: "When your product is not powered on (not connected to any device or external power), press and hold the Footswitch A and then power on (connect to the device) to turn on the XTONE MIDI PC command mode. After the indicator blinks green one time, release the footswitch" and then the manual also lists the corresponding P.C. numbers sent

    I received my Xtone Pro and the sound quality is great, BUT, I have to mention something about the switches and MIDI implementation for anyone wanting it to use it for more serious MIDI control: there's a BIG issue in that the switches send MIDI commands only on "release" of the switch and not on the "pressing" of them (I confirmed this with a MIDI monitor utility that shows you the exact timestamps and all details of the MIDI messages: MIDI-OX on PC and MIDI Check on iOS) this creates extra latency and it's useless to assign it to loopers or anything that requires precise MIDI control, The manual details how to access several MIDI modes (latching, momentary and toggle) plus the 3 banks for a total of 18 switches plus 3 different continuos control for expression pedal per bank... Audio is great but the switches issue makes it unusable for precise MIDI control, even the IK multimedia Blueboard is better for that: on the BlueBoard it correctly registers a MIDI command on "Pressing" and another one on "Releasing" the switch (as most MIDI controllers do!) and as I said, the Xtone pro "momentary" mode (mode 2) has an error as it sends 0 and 127 at the SAME time rendering useless the momentary mode!, the switches should be sending MIDI data BOTH on pressing them and also on release but the customer support says "that's is not a bug, it´s a feature" as they say "they programmed it that way as the Xtone access the different mode changes via long press of the switches and they don't want it to send a MIDI command on the "press" as it'd send MIDI data while changing modes"... Also, the continuos control does not fully send 0-127 as it skips every 6-7 steps, so if you see it on a MIDI monitor you'll see going in values of "0-7-14-21-28-35" etc instead of "0-1-2-3-4-5" and so on, this creates a "stepped" effect if you assign it to a volume control or something that requires fine continuos values as you'll hear the values "jumping" instead of a smooth transition from 0 to 127... I've had it for 3 days and it's been 2 times where it also stops sending MIDI messages at all, audio keeps passing but no MDI internally or externally, have to reboot it many times in order to get it to work again, it's NOT reliable at ALL!.... Hope that info is valuable for anyone wanting to use this for precise MIDI control as it does not work correctly for that

    To be honest, having midi controls bundled on a audio interface is more than usefull.
    Even though I don't play live, reaching for the mouse each time I want to change a value on the daw is tiring, and I am thinking of buying a midi controller (or building one with arduino), but this produc isn't much more expensive than two separate products.

      It's very convenient to have it all in one place. Reaching for a mouse is the biggest reason I don't use software often, these videos actually made it enjoyable as the hardware removed a lot of the annoyance.

    The ME-25 is what I like to mix with bias fx sometimes. I have an extra headphone adapter in the headphone jack slot which makes my ME-25 sound way better to me when pluged into speakers or an amp. I am so glad there are some plugins and apps better for effect and amp simulation than amplitube which I did not like. I didn't like the distortion for guitars on Guitar Rig either and I tried Guitar Rig at a music school I went to and ended up just prefering my ME-25 for guitars instead. Musicians can have such a protable setup now days which is so helpful especially if someone is busking. There is even the Boss Katana Mini which I have and it works with aux cables so I could get backing tracks if I wanted. There is also a Katana Air which is also pretty portable and sounds good to me too.

  • @JakeHoltMusic
    @JakeHoltMusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think this could be really useful for a lot of the amped up buskers out there, couple it with a loop station and a drum machine or backing track, there's so much potential in there

  • @jjrusy7438
    @jjrusy7438 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    yeah, I think I could use that xtone for my ambient rig. I've already been trying to figure out more uses for the mic. In the beginning search for bigger, wider sound live, I got a roland vocoder. That got me horsing around with the non-vocal mic, and that got me thinking about my Mel9 mellotron digital tracker pedal. I put the mel9 in a mixer effects out and ran a mic channel through it = hands-free mellotron. I can even run the vocals through pitch correction first. I have also run an old MIDI sound module thru the mel9 so I could play mellotron from a keyboard. I'm wondering if the korg MIDI instruction set can control the xtone(i'll look into it). I am doing a ghetto version of Jordan Rudess' setup(dream theater keys player) where I can change everything for the next song just by stepping on a footswitch and if the xtone is the gateway to the guitar-centric tech..oh boy...…. [hell no I can't afford a kronos like Jordan has. krome=ghetto kronos]
    BTW, if you are bored and wondering what I am doing, I have started putting some music on youtube on a dedicated channel. I want to mention one ambient piece because it starts with only guitar, then it changes into keyboards halfway through. The single guitar goes through the mel9 which splits the chain, then each branch goes through a delay and other effects. My point is to show the potential of the combo of guitar+synths. I will work the MIDI footboards into the songs so I can add bass and other sounds via foot, while playing guitar and/or operating the mic. It's just an ad-lib ambient jam and i'm still learning how to use all this crap coherently, but this shows where things are headed. This piece was recorded live 1-take like if I was playing in front of an audience.
    th-cam.com/video/claxbLLXp5E/w-d-xo.html (I made a playlist of the whole 10 song ambient album on the Autistic Einstein channel if you want an hour of mellow space music while eating dinner or relaxing)

    What a coincidence, my XTONE arrived today. I'm pretty impressed with it, love it. Unfortunately I've found out that Bias FX2 sucks when it comes to MIDI control, at least the desktop version. Unfortunately one thing that sucks even more when it comes to controllability: that's the FX2 VSTs. Device is great, the software isn't.
