I don't know why they haven't fixed the UI, it's such a simple thing that people have asked for since release, they probably think it doesn't matter. It really does.
This is honestly one of the best games ever made . The fact that it has been almost 20 years since I played my first game and I still love it just as much . I can't say that for any other game I own . This game being discontinued is more testament to how great DE has been . I am so thankful that this game is still being improved and that we get to look forward to even more civs to be added to the game . This is not the End of the road , DE is simply and ever evolving version the same game .May this game never die !

Lool your pc is not good enough for DE? Even my toaster laptop with half of the requirement vram running on Linux can play Definit Edition in Stone Age graffic settings. Even without Linux support from the game lol. That is really sad
@@btmg4828 Everyone's PC is different, and is subject to games running differently, bugs may appear on a high end pc that don't on a low one. My PC is decent and runs DE fine but the game is very poorly optimised and bloated, it has always tanked my memory for no reason, no other games do this. I have to restart the game after I play a couple of matches or it slows down.
So many memories and so much emotions with this game man. Thanks for sharing your childhood story. For me maybe I haven't played all NFS/ GTA games but I've played all of the AOE games. This game aged like a fine wine, the more you play the more you fall in love with this game; one of the best RTS games till this day. So horrendous to see going this game offline after many years. I feel AOE is really underrated compare to others & for what this game offers, i hope really people appreciate this game more. The barely visible explorer on the minimap, Age 2 called the Colonial Age, the classic idle villager banner, the actually minimalistic UI that looks like there is a huge smudge all over it,... *sigh* brings back memories

Yeah I dare not think how many hours me and my brother put into this, staying up will early hours of the morning when my parents would yell at me to go to bed just secretly playing this haha
This game was my childhood, my favourite by far and when anyone asks me about a favourite game its always AOE3, this gave me so many fun times in life and made alot of friends, this was the pinnacle of gaming and I'm so happy i got to play this all the time, It's sad to see it go but 19 years is a long long time for any game, it shows how well done it was, I wish more people could of experienced the brilliance this game had to offer, watching you play was so good, brought back so many memories, thanks lion and thanks for Aoe 3, always be one of my best memories in life
Loved this game, fondly remember getting into it during 2010 World Cup. Like I think a lot of people it didn't quite measure up to AoE2 for me, but that says nothing about the quality of AoE3 as it would've been a superior sequel for virtually any other franchise.

Thank you Lion for this game and video. Long Live AOE3 Legacy. I started playing Aoe3 The Asian Dynasties when I bought AoE3 Complete Edition on Steam years ago my friend recommended it. Many hours playing the game. We already moved to AOE3 DE but this game will forever be a Legend. I never tried but I am glad to hear that the AOE3 Legacy games still lives on in Game Ranger for those who play online MP or coop.
I remember i was thinking of DE as some cheap knockoff at first when i bought it. Cannon sounds were alot more beefy back then and also this insane amount of smoke ( 20:26 ) from the Musks and Rifles made it a bit more realistic than DE ngl.
@@lionheart9015 i mean all it needs for Talanis to get thru is an insane amount of gunpowder smoke added and a Bass equalizer to bosst it into the sky. Why aint we voting yet tho?
I still have my discs and boxes of the base game and the warchiefs and asian dynasties! I never got to play online too much back then, but playing AoE1 was my gateway to this game and then later on the entire repertoire of Microsoft Game Studios' catalogue of RTS games like Impossible Creatures and Rise of Nations. This is definitely the game that really solidified my love of RTS games as a whole.

A great game. But online was long gone for me, because I couldn't establish a connection with the opponent. That's why I went to Starcraft 2 in 2011. I am very happy when DE came out.
Had the username Rokbot a loooooong time ago. Used to be in the PK clan as well! I was a scrub but used to play my heart out using a 400kbps connection with almost 3 seconds of delay. Great times!
A long time ago I used to team with ageofkiller and was surprised how good he was at spamming ruyters with dutch. It makes sense he was actually Revnak lol. He played a few tutorial games with me and basically said to get really good you need to get good at the hotkeys.

The UI, the sound effects, the fog, we had it all and sold it for no patch 2024.
