    1. Backpackers can work there?
    2. Simpllfy menu (don't have way too many choices)
    3. Add Souvenir Shop/table/wall, trinkets, necklaces, thai jewellery.
    4. Add a Tattoo Artist and charge him rental space, *brings more traffic
    5. Loyalty card, 10 coffees 1 free.
    6. Promote Catering - Weddings / Birthday Parties.
    7. Birthday Rewards, free meal (they will bring paying friends)
    8. Cooperate with tour operators, bring vans of people, reward local drivers with incentives.
    9. Quietest day of the week offer a special.
    10. Organise a monthly theme party, even invite clubs to use your venue, for example chess clubs, cards, motorbike clubs, include craft beers, monthly artisan market in the grounds.
    11. Bonus Idea: Hire push bikes (not motorbikes)
Build up these complimentary sidelines to your food and drinks.... and have Lucky Bamboo Plants on your tables sitting in a glass with pebbles and water for extra luck! 🇵🇭 Leah & Blair ❤️

This is this best way to run any food or venue spot. All this does is continually adds supplemental income.
It seems once a foreigner is overseas it's more a matter of how creative they are earning money.
      Cheers.

Richie, greetings from Australia. As a bloke that's spent the last 4 years fighting the black dog every day let me thank you for playing a part in my success in winning. I have no idea of the struggles behind the camera but I simply want to say how important the joy of your videos with your wonderful wife have been for me. I'm sure many others have also shared this joy. Life's a battle, full of ups and downs. My up is arriving in Karon at the end of November and visiting your wonderful establishment. Stay tough, hang in there and fight like fu*k for your dream. Know you've got love and support and believe in your journey. I look forward to enjoying a coffee and meal there soon. Good luck guys 🙏

@Zach zachary Richie and Maybelle have a handful of TH-cam subscribers who comment, but don't watch their videos. The two cooks in the kitchen found out about this and quit, leaving Richie, Maybelle and Juu to run the restaurant. Those are the cliffnotes. I'm not saying it's your fault, but it's your fault.

I think a big issue is due to the coffee shop being in a pretty poor area, unfortunately. While the business looks nice - and I'm sure you'll get some regular customers - I can't imagine too many people bothering to go out of their way for a coffee shop / restaurant when there are literally hundreds of them nearer to the hotels and beaches near Kata. And from what I've seen of the prices I can't imagine too many people would want to pay a premium to go out of their way to visit. You'll surely get some people to follow you here and I genuinely hope you make a success of it.

I think it is very important to never fall in love with a business idea. Rule number 1 is always to make make x amounts of money and both how much and on a certain timeline should be defined. That coffee shop looks awesome, and I pretty sure they feel very attached to it by now. Just know when to cut your losses and never forget, you now have both experience and knowledge to start the next success somewhere else, in a better location.

Richie, you need to think long-term. Have a long-term plan for the business. I can’t see how going back to U.K. unless you are making 100k (60k) after tax in 6 months gonna make a difference. If you are head set on going back to England … You should close the business and bring Maybelle with you. She worked in hotel reception in Samui. Loads of reception jobs in London. Go back together work for and save for 2-3 years or more and go again in Thailand.
I personally think you should explore all revenue avenues in the Kingdom before going back to blighty. The country is going through massive inflation, sterling has tanked, flights more expensive and energy has tripled. And recession is on the horizon.

You created the business. Do you not want to work your own business? Can you not cook? Jump in and cook until you can find someone you can trust. I've been a subscriber since the start, absolutely love the channel and your transparency/ honesty.
So I'm not about to be one of those ' I told you so' people. Anyone who starts their own business and puts their money where their mouth is has my respect, whether it ultimately works out or not. We only get one life so being brave enough to go for something, as opposed to the keyboard warriors who'll never get off the couch but love to critique others from a far.
However if you feel a 'but' coming - you're right😉
And it's simply this. I think it helps to evaluation at this point what you are good at - and what you're not so good at and maybe need help with.
To me, watching these videos, I feel that what you are good at is creativity.
Between the design of the café and the garden, to the presentation of the coffee and the food, to even the way you film and edit these videos you are clearly someone, or a couple I should say, with a real passion for creating things. There is no way I'd have made that coffee garden look anything like that. I wouldn't even gave dreamed up the concept.
And honestly it does really look fantastic. Not only the garden, but the menu,, the seating, just the whole vibe of the place is defined on point.
However for me the bit you're less good at, and the bit you clearly don't enjoy is the numbers side. Which is obviously absolutely vital. I mean maxing out a bunch of credit cards as a way of financing major purchases is honestly Richie just bonkers. I remember you sort of laughing as you told us that but when you did, all these many months ago, I feel like you made today's video more or less inevitable.
So long story short - you need a hard nosed accountant to look over absolutely everything you are doing a formulate a solid plan.
Otherwise honestly mate this cash injection you hope to make after a stint abroad is just throwing good money after bad in my honest opinion.

    Why do you not sell
Shares in your coffee shop. Like issue 10.000 shares of each 100 usd. Then you sell those online and you get a certificate as co-owner. That makes it 1.000.000. You then entitled to every month one free drink for a life time. If you sell 200 shares you only loose 2% of your company but you have your required cash.

@@kabirulalo908 The 90 days report needs to be done 90 days after your arrival and then every 90 days again. There are more ways to do that. Either you go to immigration yourself and bring your passport there (in Phuket town they have a „drive through“ and it’s done in a few minutes), or you hire an agency who’s doing it for you, or the easiest way: do it online! When you do it online they just want your actual address where you stay, your arrival date and as I remember your passport number (maybe a few more little details). But that’s it. Very easy and fast. You both however have the right approach and attitude to not allow things to grind you down. I’m so very pleased that you’ve chosen to stay and fight. With that kind of determination you will NOT fail in your business or in fact whatever you do. Stay focussed and you will both succeed in your business. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Thank you too for the two of you being so open and honest. Your are a great inspiration to all the viewers…..keep it up.

If the coffee garden is burning cash I would suggest sell as a going concern (if you can) or sell the assets and take stock of your situation and potentially move it to a busier location.......however I suspect prime rental costs will be enormous in kata, karon or patong. If you are making about £700 a month from TH-cam now, focus on this to cover your basic costs now and grow the channel to increase revenue in the future. From a business/TH-cam perspective it would be ideal to have a base for subscribers to visit but not to the point where it kills you financially. Other vloggers do not have a base but arrange meet-ups instead. If your current model is not working then you have to change it, throwing money at it by going home to work will not fix it IMO. Hope you can work things out and move forward. All the best from sunny Stoke!

I had the pleasure of meeting Richie two days ago. And that's me and my lovely friend with the waitress at 13:28 in the video. It was so fun to sit in the coffee garden. It is just as portrayed in the videos. Being from Canada, Thailand is a place for adventure and discovery. Maybelle's Coffee Garden was one of my desired stops. Richie is a kind and friendly chap and I wish them much success. Many other channels sell merchandise. Where are the cafe's t-shirts? Keep cooking and pouring and serving.

Offshore gets to you, either quickly or after a while, its hard, to break in now its hard BOSIET and Med cheapest in Aberdeen 900 quid, and day reates not what they were...that ship has sailed...Mines in OZ , OK , but again, big money up front for tickets, traffic management in OZ pays well, and best ROI for money on tickets spent...i can tell you've been out of it for a while, and have heard a few myths about offshore, from your intro "get me off-shore quick money", doesnt work like that anymore...no easy grind these days..but good luck, brave dude

On the plus side you hàve an amazingly supportive partner..also you are both young and healthy.

I pressed like on the video, although I don't like that you have to go back to the UK, Richie.
This reminded me of Simon from Land of Smiles Thailand, who had to go back to the UK to drive a taxi, just to proceed with their resort.
And although it sucks to think about this now, the 2 of you will come out stronger.
I wanted to visit the garden last Tuesday, but while in Phuket, my wife got covid, so we cut our holiday short and went back to her home in Pattani.
So now it's all about taken care of the misses.
Stay strong guys, you will get through this. By the way, I love how, especially Maybelle can keep up her smile, while going through this. Although that is all the outside we see, right?

The UK is a very different place to the UK you left a couple of years or so ago, avoid that option if you can. UK and work, thats twice you swore on your video, lol. You are still young enough to do what you need to do to make things work, strongly advise you do it sooner rather than later, as work becomes harder and extremely tiresome the older you get. Twenty to Fifty are your golden years for earning good money, make the most of them, as they run out quickly. Take care.
