And Ash just straight up copies Elioh's clothes in Sun and Moon (the male protagonist of the games). "Let's just change the hat and make the shirt's blue a little brighter."
Wasn't there an Anime reference in Detective Pikachu? Ash's Pikachu shows up. It isn't specifically stated, but is HEAVILY implied to be it. Even if it isn't the same one, Detective Pikachu says something like "So you and your trainer want to be the very best, like no one ever was? Well, good luck!" which IS a reference.
Theinsanegamer10 Ash's Pikachu shows, since Pikachu Holmes says, i hope you and your partner become the very best like no one ever was, also Pikachu says Pika Pi, which translate in Satoshi, Ash's real name, im not kidding this is actually a thing
I'd love to see Detective Pikachu make an appearance in the anime. Ash and Pikachu get a letter from a detective not revealing his name, but when they come to his office, they freak out when they realize it's a talking Pikachu. And Detective Pikachu responds saying, "What? Were you expectin' Basil of Baker Street or somethin'?"
“The Great Electric Mouse Detective.” Get it? It’s a play on the title of the 1986 Disney Animated Feature, “The Great Mouse Detective.” The title character was named Basil of Baker Street.
yea its an anime reference, to activate that quote you have to have the special shiny beldum with you and it reminds him of alan because Steven has a shiny metagross at the time. That moment pissed me because it implies that the games timeline has some kind of connection with the anime
You forgot that in Pokemon Yellow Pikachu refusing to evolve. After being DESTROYED by LT. Surge's Raichu Pikachu denied evolving. In pokemon yellow LT. Surge only has a Raichu like in the show.
Another reference that wasn't shown can be found in one of the Pokemon Colosseum games. A trainer in the Mt. Battle area says "I feel like I have a similar setup to somebody else" and her Pokemon are Chimecho and Cacnea which is a reference to James' team in the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire series.

You missed one. In the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire, Steven Stone said he met a Trainer with black Charizard referencing Alain and Charizard from the anime.
But,there aren't enough references for a video, just the dedede castle of the anime in squeek squad and evil kirby's face in star allies, well,I don't know more references
Gen3? Ruby/Sapphire Nurse is basically Nurse Joy without a tiara and with a blue dress under her uniform. Emerald Nurse is still having the blue dress but she even got the tiara now. Fire Red/Leaf Green is 100% Nurse Joy.
*xxAryAryxx* no i wasn't talking about FRLG that would be dumb lol still the nurse in RS seems too different to me i mean E makes it seem more like joy but still that blue dress catches me off guard so i just say "it isn't nurse joy"
In yellow, there was a trainer in victory road who had cloyster, arcanine & exeggutor. I think he was a reference to the dude ash fought on the ice field in the indigo plateau. In the anime, the match was shown already in play & his 1st pokemon was already K.O’d so nobody knows what it was...
There's another Pokémon anime reference in the Pokémon games! In Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal, the female Team Rocket Grunt look familiar to Jessie's rival : Cassidy
Only Gold Silver and Crystal have the sprite of Cassidy on the female grunt in Heart Gold and Soul Silver the female grunt sprite is like the male grunt
Considering that Cassidy's first appearance in the anime was just a few months before the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver in Japan, I think it's more likely that she's designed after the female TR Grunt instead. The anime producers had probably access to all the sketches and character designs of the games already so they could work on their anime counterparts.
There was a refrence in detective Pikachu. At a point in the game you walk outside and see a pikachu then the detective pikachu comes over and says how h mistook him for Ash's pikachu who says"He Wants to be the very best.Like no-one ever was" The first sentence of the Pokemon the song
You forgot to include Steven in ORAS! He mentions during the Delta Episode that he once battled a Trainer with a black Charizard, a clear reference to Alain from XY&Z series
It's definitely Alan In the game Steven mentions having met Rayquaza and battling it alongside a young trainer with a black charizard, which is a reference to the second mega evolution special, where steven and alan battled rayquaza

0:36 Gen 2 Shiny Butterfree is pink, so she could be referring to that and not the anime, considering they are at the Lake of Rage, the home of the Red Gyarados.
Actually, the shiny that looks nearly to the Pink Buterfree is in Gen. II, and it doesn't have anything in common. The pink in the sprite of Gen. II it's in it wings, and it has green eyes, while the Pink Buterfree has pink eyes.

1: Graphical limitations at the time mean only three colours, so it was likely a limitation, besides the fact the colour are different from the anime, gen 2 shiny butterfree IS pink. The Gyarados was a different colour and hence, she could be refering to it in mentioning the butterfree. 2: While it is true Butterfree can only be found in Gold, and by extension Crystal, the fact that it is mentioned in all three versions is a indicator of this info. besides, NPC's don't hold the same limitations as the player. 3: As stated before, Gen 2 shiny Butterfree is Pink. 4: the anime is based on the games. 5: the thing above it is part of it, so it looks nothing like it. Besides, in Gen 1 it was just a table, and Oaks lab looked nothing like it does in the anime. 6: I did not bring up Ash Greninja or Ash Cap Pikachu because they are references to the anime. 7: Pokemon Ranger and the Sea Temple has no statement that the Buizel is owned by the character. 8: The Mimikyu room anime reference is obviously Ash. 9: the reference continues in the Gen 2 remakes, but it must be noted that they were remakes, and almost word for word, with some extensions.
"Graphical limitations at the time mean only three colours, so it was likely a limitation, besides the fact the colour are different from the anime, gen 2 shiny butterfree IS pink." If that was so much of a problem then why are all post-Gen II shiny Butterfrees purple? Also, as someone above posted, shiny Butterfrees have green eyes (the pink one from the anime has red eyes). "the anime is based on the games." That justifies nothing. Pink Butterfree from the anime appeared way before Gen II. "the thing above it is part of it, so it looks nothing like it." And what is that exactly meant to prove? The anime takes creative liberties all the time. That doesn't mean the games can't make references to it. " Pokemon Ranger and the Sea Temple has no statement that the Buizel is owned by the character." Yet said Buizel interacts with her and the NPC has the same name as that character in the japanese version.
Pokemon Yellow, there are other anime characters. A.J., Joe, Giselle, Damien, and Melanie. Also there's a trainer in Mt. Battle who references James and uses the team of Cacnea and Chimecho
I don't know if this is true or not but you could get the 10 000 000 volts thunderbolt Z-move in the Ultra games. Also funny how there are a lot more references in the Alola games than any other games before. Ash-greninja, Ash's Pikachu, Dusk form Lycanroc, those 10 mil. Volt thunderbolt...
Other notes, Clair having a Pokemon she has in the anime isn't at all an Easter egg, especially since the game came if they didn't, that's like saying Brock's onix is an Easter egg. Riley isn't based of Sr Aaron he is an assessor to the people known as aura guardians, aka, he is just wearing similar clothes cause they are from the same clan
Captain LastrEo Of course Yellow is canon. I mean the Red on Mount Silver has all Kanto starters and a Pikachu in his Team so he must be the Red from Pokemon Yellow.
Did you ever play pokemon pearl online? Some of the colors looked darker and I seen you surfing really face plus having a glaceon before meeting Riley even though we cannot get an eevee until beating the elite four to get the 150 mark.
Yes. This video is actually wrong . It's the other way around for *most* of the things. The games come first and then the anime references them. But some of them are actually accurate and happened in the anime first: - Pink Butterfree. That's not a shiny, that's anime only. Shiny Butterfrees have pink legs and green eyes. - Togepi crying in Misty's gym. No need to explain. - Prof. Elm/Utsugi's desk in HGSS - Ash/Satoshi & Pikachu in the picture.
Pokémon: Anime and Game Kalos Cap “Satoshi” is based on Kanto Cap “Red” (Pokémon Red Fire and Pokémon Green Leaf) Satoshi Gekkouga lives up to the Pokémon's name: Ash Ketchum (Pokémon X and Pokémon Y) Serena saved by Satoshi has similar story with the girl saved (Pokémon SM) Serena Pokémon XY “DoriDori” coincidence with girl and two pikachu of the drawing (Pokémon SM) i.imgur.com/rnW6EMC.jpg
2:22 Actually, Riley is a character from the anime. He appeared in the episode DP110. But it's interesting to see that he really looks like Sir Aaron and has a Lucario too
From what I can see, most of these are either funny coincidences or the anime copied the games rather than the other way around. However Red's Pikachu, Brock's Bonsly, the picture in Mimikyu's room, Ash-Greninja, the Togepi in Misty's gym and the Ash-hat Pikachus are definitely from the anime.
The games always reference the anime. Nintendo knows that at least half of it's Pokemon Fanbase watches the Anime, the movies, and plays the games that correspond to each generation. While i haven't watched the anime since Orange Islands, i can't speak for anything since.
You forgot one. Battle 35 of Mt. Battle in Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness has a trainer who comments on someone in the world having the exact same team as her. She has a Cacnea and a Chimecho. This is refencing James's team at the time in the anime.
There’s a metapod vs metapod reference in a Pokémon lets go pikachu and lets go evee trailer, referencing Ash’s battle against Samurai when they both used metapod.
The Pokemon games come out before the anime's, so most of the references on the anime come from the games. It would makes sense that the remakes of older Pokemon games come from the anime...
Nick den Toom thats it? Thats a really dumb reference.... i mean it’s still that many gls have the same team as their anime counterpart.... so no, its not a unique reference
Well technically anything in the original Pokemon Red and Blue is not a reference to the anime. Pokemon Yellow, Fire Red and Leaf Green yeah, but Red and Blue came out before the anime so anything they have in similarity is what the anime took from them.
Togepi crying in the cerulean gym is actually a really cool easter egg!
Pun intended?

I thought it was cute seeing all the Pokémon trying to cheer it up in the anime!
You know.. I never thought to take my Togepi to Misty's gym..
@Elijah Steeby as a spirit yeah but as a mii costume no
@Elijah Steeby doesnt even make sense
That Togepi and Cerulean gym part is a very nice touch. I wish they made more anime references like this in the later gen..
Silver Joker and I wish they would stop. We're both out of luck.

For rowlet, it's the opposite : every rowlet sleeps in their trainer's bag, so does Ash's. it's not a reference.

Yes
Btw, the super potion used the design given to it in the tcg, not the anime. It's not a reference, the item just looks that way.
In Yellow, there's a guy with a Sandshrew who says he has a 100 win streak. He's based off someone in the Anime, (I think his name was TJ).
In BW there's more references, like the events like Satoshi's Pikachu, Cilan's Pansage and Iris's Axew
I almost cried when I read the Togepi one. So sweet!
I wish Jessie and James would appear in the upcoming Pokémon games so I can have a chance to fight them.
Sure apples but at least they appear in Pokémon Yellow!
Sure apples Like it would be a real fight
Yellow is not Canon unfortunately.
Captain LastrEo Of course Yellow is canon. I mean the Red on Mount Silver has all Kanto starters and a Pikachu in his Team so he must be the Red from Pokemon Yellow.
If Yellow was Canon, Blue would still have the Eevee he took got from Oak.
this vid was awesome great job!
What about the intro of the game were Gengar fights Nidorino , that same fight is in the anime on the first episode on Ash's TV.
6:59 thats cool, you can hear Pikachu in the right ear and Ampharos in the left if u put on earbuds or headphones
Did you ever play pokemon pearl online? Some of the colors looked darker and I seen you surfing really face plus having a glaceon before meeting Riley even though we cannot get an eevee until beating the elite four to get the 150 mark.
Watching Ash clobber those two idiots is one thing, but I’d seriously like them to make another appearance so I can do it with my own Pokémon.
Didn't the games come out and have at least half of this stuff in them before the anime reached that point?
Yes. This video is actually wrong . It's the other way around for *most* of the things. The games come first and then the anime references them.
But some of them are actually accurate and happened in the anime first:
- Pink Butterfree. That's not a shiny, that's anime only. Shiny Butterfrees have pink legs and green eyes.
- Togepi crying in Misty's gym. No need to explain.
- Prof. Elm/Utsugi's desk in HGSS
- Ash/Satoshi & Pikachu in the picture.
Isn't pink Butterfree just the shiny variant?
3:41 Showdown reference
904funny
showdown was opened 2012 wasnt it and d/p were 2006
I remember in the gen 6 games Alain was referenced as “a kid with a black charizard”. I can’t remember if it was x and y or oras though
oras
ORAS, but it could have been Red instead of Alain.
Nick den Toom its not, its alain
It was ORAS, since that reference was made by Steven.
@@nickdentoom1173no, it’s definitely Alain. Steven never met Red in the anime as far as I’m aware.
I wondered if you actually forgot 10,000,000 Volt.
Anh Nguyễn Công Tuấn 10,000,000 volt was in Sun and Moon 2016 While In the anime it was 2017
DK Rex That would also mean the other Sun and Moon references were the other way around.
Pokémon: Anime and Game
Kalos Cap “Satoshi” is based on Kanto Cap “Red” (Pokémon Red Fire and Pokémon Green Leaf)
Satoshi Gekkouga lives up to the Pokémon's name: Ash Ketchum (Pokémon X and Pokémon Y)
Serena saved by Satoshi has similar story with the girl saved (Pokémon SM)
Serena Pokémon XY “DoriDori” coincidence with girl and two pikachu of the drawing (Pokémon SM)

I love the references to the anime :)
Riley based on sir Aaron but there was a Riley in the anime 2 so yeah
This brings back a lot of memories...
Jessie and Jamemes in the game was my favourite part. 😂
I feel bad for you for going through the cancer of Season 2 and up in the Pokemon Anime. God Bless.
2:22
Actually, Riley is a character from the anime. He appeared in the episode DP110. But it's interesting to see that he really looks like Sir Aaron and has a Lucario too
They made him a character in the anime based off of his game counterpart who was based on sir aaron
Pokémon 😏 Ash's and TV
I feel like some of these are just coincidences, but still really cool to see
From what I can see, most of these are either funny coincidences or the anime copied the games rather than the other way around. However Red's Pikachu, Brock's Bonsly, the picture in Mimikyu's room, Ash-Greninja, the Togepi in Misty's gym and the Ash-hat Pikachus are definitely from the anime.
pinks buterfree
Riley is an yes and no because there was a character in Battle Dimensions that looks like Riley
Champi because that was riley and lucario
The games always reference the anime. Nintendo knows that at least half of it's Pokemon Fanbase watches the Anime, the movies, and plays the games that correspond to each generation. While i haven't watched the anime since Orange Islands, i can't speak for anything since.
Nice vid 👍👌
You forgot one.
Battle 35 of Mt. Battle in Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness has a trainer who comments on someone in the world having the exact same team as her. She has a Cacnea and a Chimecho.
This is refencing James's team at the time in the anime.
The Pikachu cry is a real work of art.
7:52
But not all the Pokémon Center Nurses of each generation are based on Nurse Joy? At least those from Gen III onward...
There’s a metapod vs metapod reference in a Pokémon lets go pikachu and lets go evee trailer, referencing Ash’s battle against Samurai when they both used metapod.
The best battle ever
Originally the game came first. So the anime referenced the game. Now they are both planned together.
The Pokemon games come out before the anime's, so most of the references on the anime come from the games. It would makes sense that the remakes of older Pokemon games come from the anime...
clair has a gyarados in her team, much like in the anime....
tons of GLs have the same pokemon in the anime and in the games
Clair didn't have Gyarados in the Originals (Gold, Silver and Crystal) but she she did in the remakes. Thats a reference.
Nick den Toom thats it? Thats a really dumb reference.... i mean it’s still that many gls have the same team as their anime counterpart.... so no, its not a unique reference
André Van der Linden 🤔🙄
Dont most Gym leaders have the same pkmn both game and anime?
7:11 Why are you trying to defeat a level 80 with a level 46. that doesnt work
@@NerfPlayeR135 in the original red has a lv 81 pikachu not 80
red is ash.
Lmfao, that Clair and Gyarados reach though 😂....
what is that place at 3:45
Are the gen 1 references from yellow? Because its impossible to be reference and from red/blue/green
And lyncanrock?
Lycanroc*
RazorFire COOKIE *you mom*
Lycanroc*
Well technically anything in the original Pokemon Red and Blue is not a reference to the anime. Pokemon Yellow, Fire Red and Leaf Green yeah, but Red and Blue came out before the anime so anything they have in similarity is what the anime took from them.
