Perez this season has been no better than Gasly, I agree. Albon wasn’t good either. However, in 2019 at least Albon was nearly always ahead of the midfield, whereas Gasly was often in the midfield.
Gasly was in a Perez like spiral before getting dropped, but I’m sure he’d be doing better than Checo. Albon would likely be doing even better. None of them really deserved keeping the seat. But if anyone did, Albon did.
@@The_ZeroLine Albon had an extra year on Gasly with a better car, if after 2020 red bull went back for Gasly they would be getting a pretty complete driver
DR = a) loves the Max setup, which is the biggest problem for all the other drivers b) only driver to ever beat Max and has highest ceiling c) immediately solves Lawson issue and DR issue as they’ll drop him if he fails at the EOS d) used to operating in the spotlight and knows the RBR team extremely well. Bottom line, DR makes the most sense of any in-house choices.
1:38:35 - Shovelin’s comments about George himself being hot and underweight sounded like nonsense. Mercedes turned out Hamilton’s car at the correct weight and Alonso made the same mid-race decision to one-stop & was fine. From what I recall about the Spa weekend is Mercedes weren’t happy about their car floors on Friday, so swapped both of them back to the previous spec overnight. The FIA don’t weigh all the cars on Saturday, its entirely on the teams. All I can think is in swapping parts over between configurations they gave George car parts that were too light or messed up their ballast calculations. It has to be a straight mathematical error or Hamilton would have been very marginal too and I don’t think this was the case.
1:27:15 - don’t forget the wind-tunnel allocation is adjusted every six months based on a rolling team position. The WCC position affects prize money allocation, staff bonuses etc at the end of each season and is what all the teams & owners are focused on. Only the drivers and fans think the WDC is more important.
The Red Bull overspend from 2021 (they were 2nd in the WCC that year) were they got a fine & a 10% reduction in wind tunnel time suggests the FIA are happy to create a fitting punishment to these rules and not hand formulaic advantages to to teams breaking the rules.
Wrong. Team executives and owners want the WDC 100x more than the WCC because the WDC produces 100x more media attention and fans and sponsors are interested in the biggest star, not the WCC chassis. Up to maybe the ‘70s the WCC would have mattered more to certain teams. If RBR cared that much about the WCC, Checo wouldn’t be staying.
Perez is Horner's driver hell back him no matter what the Thai side of Red Bull back Horner's decisions well wait until Red Bull don't win the constructors championship then we will see a mass of changes from drivers to team bosses
SP = outquali’d 4-3 by Logan since Monaco. _Anyone_ could do better. It’s unobjective to say DR wouldn’t do far better. RBR’ll never replace Checo at the USGP w/ 🇲🇽 the next round.
Time to borrow Jonty’s tinfoil hat - Perez is performing as instructed to gain wind tunnel time for the new regs. Plus it has the added bonus of distracting the media away from the off-field stuff, which has worked when you think that RB have just denied the appeal from the employee in the Horner saga within the last 2 weeks & no one is talking about it.

Gasly getting fired looks worse every single time they get another driver, both Albon and Perez had better cars and got more time and are no better
