Thank you! Really helpful to hear your thought process, and really gratifying and encouraging to hear someone of your strength admit that she missed the move
Interesting video. I can honestly say as a 2k online player I've never thought of candidate moves. I'll need a few more of these videos to motivate me enough to try it myself.
Always waiting to see your amazing content. I saw the Pawn move but the quiet queen move didn’t make the cut - A good puzzle for candidate move demonstration!!
The knight sac didn't even make it onto my list! My best candidate was nc4 to protect the pawn and simultaneously block the black queen from defending the rook. And that my dear friends is the difference between a master and a duffer.
I did look at c4 as a candidate, but it was the last one I saw. The first things I noticed is that it protects b2 and cuts off the queen from defending the rook on e6. I didn't immediately see Ra3 would trap the queen. Qe4 came to me much more quickly.
I'm confused about why Qe4 is supposed to be so great, but you can get the rook and queen lined up for free by capturing the rook with the queen. Then white is threatening to play Qe6+. For some reason Irina totally ignored that line.
Don’t see White’s drawing try after Qxe3 Kxf7 Qxe6+ Kf8, but yes, it’s as interesting as some lines shown. If white checks instead on f3 to fork the rook, Nf6 and white’s rook hangs. Or if white follows Qe6+ with Re5 to try a different fork, Qa1+ and if the rook blocks, the knight no longer hangs. (Or Kh2 Nf6.) Qa4, Nf6 and Re8 are coming. Any Qf5+, Nf6. The defense is faster than the attack.
@@mikehornick4971 Although my engine prefers 1. c5 Qa5 2. Nxf7 Rxe3 3. Rxe3 to 3. Qxe3, it does not like 3. Rxe3 Kxf7 but prefers 3. .. Rf8 instead. It really likes 2. .. Qxe1+.
Hello, respectfully, may I ask why you suggest a new computer? Maybe the camera quality is not to your liking, but how do you end up making a suggestion about the computer? Please share your view, I would appreciate it
Saw 1. c4 after about 1 minute, decided on it after another minute (without calculating everything). Yep, I used to be a decent player (back in the 1980's). 🙂

As a beginner I blunder a few times each game as does the computer. It seems it may be useful for me to explicitly add traps and quiet moves to the list checks, captures, threats or possibly expand threats into a number of categories of threat including traps and quiet moves to help me to remember to consider them. I most enjoy Karpovs style of play which I understand included many traps of pieces so they could not move. The puzzles I found most difficult on an app were the Quiet Move puzzles. Yesterday I had a pawn majority of two and found if very difficult playing with a queen against two rooks. I considered myself fortunate to draw against the computer by the 50 move rule! I enjoy the process of seeking what has not been thought by anyone. Thanks for sharing.

I’m guilty of not looking at all the candidates moves. I often overlook stuff because of it. Thanks for this video.
Hi Irina, you taught me the importance of piece activity, love from Ireland.
Very instructive!! 👍🙂
'Lets get to it'. Yes Irena, lets do.
That Qe4 move was not so quiet because it was targeting both the rook and the e6 square where it was almost mate.
Really nice example; I did not see the quiet queen move.

Ty Irina f̂rom Gothenborg Sweden hope ething is well!
Thank you! 😎👍🙏
Such a nice problem! I would have loved to see what the follow-up is after queen takes rook, rook takes queen, rook takes rook, king steps to h2.
Good video, although a pretty advanced lesson, this is probably suited for 1600+ (and only slow games)

This was very well explained. I just wish I had started chess at a young age. I will never have her level of smarts
Every time I try to get out, she pulls me back in

Indeed a nice chess puzzle, but the big mystery is why do you have more lanterns than books on your bookshelves? 🤔
Looking beautiful Irina. You are my Krush :-P
