Property crime is high here in Austin, we lost two bikes (one later recovered!) when our shed was burglarized. No sadder feeling than to walk out and find your bike gone. I now chain the bikes up in the shed, which is a real pain but better than replacing them.

Thank you for sharing David, it really is a huge bummer. We are experimenting with some new tech to keep our stuff safe. We will try and share what we find… thank you for watching

You can never leave your bike out of sight in New Mexico.

Great video but you can do what I do and never let your bike leave eye sight. I've taken it into Lowes, Target and if I go into a convince store, I back in to where I can see it at all timed. Even at home, I don't leave my garage open going in and out of the house. If I need to go in even for 2 minutes, I close the garage door. On trips with multiple riders, someone always stays with the bikes and if we stop to eat, we only eat where we can see bikes 100% of the time. Luv the chain idea too however.

Thank you so much, we always leave someone outside watching bikes as well when we stop somewhere

Thank you, it helps to use a 2.8 or even a fat tire tube :) I tired the 2.4 and it was a nightmare

@@MTBNewMexico Good to know! I may already have something out in my shop. Traveling with the handcycle to ABQ soon and need a solid anti-theft lockdown system. This might be the exact thing I need.

Some of the thieves here in Tulsa carry cordless angle grinders. As already mentioned by others it's safest to not let your bike out of your sight. I know I have annoyed friends when I won't go hang out somewhere after a ride because of where they are going and my inability to see my bike the whole time. But I'd rather not take the chance. BTW good video!

I should test how long it takes to break a chain and u- lock w a grinder ,,, I’m sure it’s pretty fast
