I'm impressed how there's guys like Al that went to Harvard, and guys like Richard Pryor in comedy. From Ivy League to growing up in a brothel. Seems like the better educated end up writing for a decade or so.

Good interview. Interesting that Howie brought up the Daily Show. After seeing Al doing it, I thought he would be a natural replacement. I think it would be great if Al was offered the job. He'd would be absolutely perfect!

Howie, from one Canadian to another...stop interrupting your guests....let them answer the questions you ask.
If I'm having a conversation and really engaging with them, I would expect we would both interrupt each other do many times based on enjoying the ebb and flow of two people talking. If I'm at an interview for a job, I get your point.

Tim Robbins actually did make that joke about GE in his monologue, but they had him "ignore" the cue cards(he told the guy to put them away) and after he said the word "death" he gets called back to talk to Lorne, so I guess after they got those notes they went all in on GE trying to stop them from saying anything.
No one talked about it after the show because the musical guest on that show was Sinead O'Connor...

Couldn't stand Franken back in the day. Now that I'm older and wiser, he had great convictions and achieved a lot for Minnesota and for Americans when he was in the Senate.

In actuality the 80% spending on medical has made medical rates go UP not DOWN. Here's the math.
Lets say that the insurance company takes in 10,000,000 in premiums
In order to keep the 80% rule, they need to spend 8,000,000 and have 2,000,000 in profits
On average they've done this every year in the past.
Now, when the time comes to renegotiate medical payments, if they make their estimate to 10,000,000 with the same payout rates as previous years, they can charge 12,500,000 in premiums and keep 2,500,000 million. So premiums go up 25% and profits go up 25%. But that increase means that the hospital can charge 25% more to the insurance company and therefore to keep their margins correct they can also charge non insured people 25% more also which increases their profits.
The only thing holding them back is the tolerance for premium increases.
Note I haven't included any of the other things that would cause changes in the medical payments.

Wow and I'm 65 and my Dad was 52 when I was born. It was said ,over the years since he died, that he did work at GE at some time, and also that he did something that helped the A bomb be built This is the first time Ive heard someone else mention that stuff.

Oh! my goodness how on earth did Norm get away with saying, he wrote Wayne and Shuster’s fair well, goodbye song on his Netflix show, his old boss’s ex wife was Rosie, When I saw it, I thought, most likely because there are not many of us left to remember, But then I remember watching Will Shatner in a futuristic sketch on the Big Review where he finds an ancient relic, a calendar of Marilyn Monroe with a flaming background and an ancient urn (coke bottle) I watched the big review because my friend from dancing school Glenna Jones was a principal dancer. Snl is timeless. I wasnt born till 82, but ive seen every episode of snl they made. Doesnt matter if you remember it. Its all accessible today

Al was funny back then on SNL! He Rocked the Viewer's! And he did the right thing on stepping down from his political possession even though the allegations were from before he got into politics. I am a BIG Fan! He still has tons of comedy in him,I'm sure! He should start making people laugh again!

Good to see Al Franken who should never have left Congress because of the Me Too movement hysteria. He was doing good work there and is sorely missed. Howie Mandel, on the other hand, failed at everything he tried until he caught the talent show gig, which is ironic since he hasn't any.

You can tell Al is always watching what he is saying. That’s obviously from being a Senator. But I don’t know how well that would work in comedy anymore. People probably want to hear his stories about Ted Cruz and whoever. I think he needs to decide if he is ever going to make another Senate run or not. If not, go hard into the comedy. Drop the F bomb. Talk about some controversial stuff that came up while Senator in more colorful language than what people are used to hearing from you.
