Jim Dale reads the US Harry Potter audio books - he does have a British accent, but the books use the Americanized texts. Interestingly he has quite a lot of variations in pronunciation throughout his readings of the series.

An epic Brain Blaze! Equally epic: we all get to marvel at Simon's new glasses! Edit: I wish I could see Simon's face when he learns what The Deer Hunter is actually about.
I hope watching this in segments doesn't screw up your data because I enjoy longer blazes, even if I have to watch it in parts. Thanks for doing these, Danny and Simon!

Simon, Deerhunter is a film about a group of hunting buddies who serve in the Vietnam war and the aftermath when they return home drastically changed by the horrors of war.
Kalamazoo and Battle Creek are seperate cities about 20 miles apart. The airport is in Kalamazoo, but Wikipedia (i know, i know) says that the airport was too costly for the city so ownership was trnsferred to the county, and Battle Creek's name was added to stimulate its local economy (because I guess being the cereal capital wasn't enough). My mom is from Battle Creek and lots of my family worked at the Kellogg plant.
Simon: "The Deer Hunter... I guess it's about hunting deer." "Um.." "People watching this who have seen The Deer Hunter.. oh, Simon, you didn't it was a coming of age movie about XYZ" "Eh, close enough on both counts for Simon." It's about how the Vietnam War affected a group young men coming of age right at the worst of it and their last activity together before being shipped off was deer hunting. It's an excellent movie and one of the only Christopher Walken movies to not be subject to the Christopher Walken effect. (Walken is a serial overacter who loves chewing the scenery with a side of ham. The Walken effect is his ability to take a substandard movie/plot/role and make it unforgettably better by his presence. For instance, his Bond villain in A View to a Kill, the perfect husband in the Stepford Wives, or the archangel Gabriel in Prophecy.)
I genuinely like how Simon has morale compass. But more impressed how he will awkwardly skim past things like Britains involvement in the Nigerian civil w
Alice Cooper isn't your casual rich-guy golfer, either, he puts just as much effort into golf as he did alcoholism (and hoo boy, there's probably the reason he didn't trash any hotel rooms, throwing a TV out the window would require taking at least one hand off a bottle of Jack for a second or two). Plays six days a week and can hang with pros, score-wise. He once said "I didn't give up addiction, I just traded one addiction for another."
Once saw a t-shirt that read, 'I'm not 45, I'm 18 with 27 years of experience.'. I think this suits Simon, except reduce it to 12. 😆 In college, i conveniently lived across the street from a bar (great in winter, no need for snow boots or a coat even on stormy nights) that had 3 sections, a sports bar, a lounge type & one with a dance floor. There was a large bathroom between 2 of the bars that was always well stocked with TP & paper towels which came in handy, often. I admit even siphoning off some liquid soap from time to time. During the week, the sports bar had a 2 for 1 happy hour, which applied to pitchers of draft 👌 & had peanuts in the shell & a help yourself popcorn machine. A carbs, protein & veg college students' supper. 😂 For a change, on Thu & Fri at happy hour, the lounge served hot tempura veggies & finger sandwiches. They didn't serve pitchers though, so after pigging out, we'd shift to the sports bar to finish happy hour. Then later, we'd move to the dance bar. Don't think they realized just how many students they subsidized. TBH, helped get me through more than just my student years. I loved that bar. If you made it this far, well done you 👍, sorry for the long trip down memory lane.
I was so sure the last one was fake because of Simon's TIFO video on how using knockout darts on people like in the movies (and basically every other quick subdue method like a knock on the head or knockout gas) isn't really a thing because of how easy it is to get it wrong and cause injury or death, among other reasons. Add one more item to the list of drug doses he's lucky to have survived.
I love danny's long intros. I love simons rants. Its a beautiful contrast to his other channels. I come from one of the other channels to this and its just great!
Yes Simon! This is a problem lots of people have. I have a few spots on my back that I can't reach. My shoulders are completely f-ed. But sometimes it's not even about the fact that you can't reach. It just feels really nice to have someone else scratch your back. Or head. Or any other body part.
Being a bit overweight myself, people are amazed that I can reach every part of my back. I never have to ask anyone for a scratch, especially if I have a pencil or pen nearby. Being fat doesn’t stop my genetic hyper flexibility…yet 😅 My husband though, has the flexibility of an 80yo man at middle aged. He either asks me or uses the door frame like a bear 😂😂
Actully I read Tim (Dick) Allen's biography "Don't Stand to Close to a Naked Man" and he is quite open about his incarceration and conviction. Simon suggested that he might be concerned about people knowing his criminal past but he considers that a matter of public record and seems like you took the whole thing in stride.
Yup. I remember when Biography did his biography. According to the show, he came forward to the public when Disney signed him to play Tim Taylor. He had told Disney about his past and was concerned that if it came out it could ruin him and the show and taint Disney's image. Disney decided that covering it up would be what ruins everyone if it comes out and that coming forward publicly instead would be the way to handle it. He did announce it and the fact that getting into comedy was his way of turning his life around publicly. Disney was right. People admired his honesty and him turning his life around. Now it is a life lesson for so many others.
@@eph2vv89only1way "people admired his honesty and him turning his life around" Sorry kiddo, but the fact that he let 21 people rot in prison to protect his own ass, and then started making money as an actor, doesn't mean he "turned his life around." He just got more opportunities to make money and stopped taking risks... He's still an awful person who let other people take the fall. Don't ever get those things confused. You might end up in jail for someone who doesn't deserve to walk free.
How are all of you guys so gung ho about a guy who let several other people take the fall to keep himself out of trouble? I think you might all be garbage human beings who would sell out anyone to avoid taking responsibility for your own actions.

That's the problem, though, Simon. When states adopt new laws, they don't always make them well known to the general public. Especially if Tim hadn't been an actual resident of the state of Michigan. I've lived in Illinois for nearly 50 years, and they change or make new laws every year that I'm unaware of.
Lol, that's Illinois for ya. Meanwhile in Iowa our elected do everything they can to change things as sparingly as possible. Tho, for Christ's sake, legalize it already....

I see you're like my young college students who had to be reminded that not everyone is perfectly able all the time. From arthritis to accidental injuries and everything in between, people can have different levels of physical ability at different times in their lives and may need some assistive devices - or maps of their back.
The fact that Simon can scratch his back like this is an indication that Simon himself is not physically abled - but clearly no one has actually had the discussion with him yet that your arms should not be able to reach that far, and that this level of flexibility while cold as an AMAB person without specific training is caused by a connective tissue disability. People who haven't had that called out genuinely think their body's quirks are the baseline normal, and it's confusing when they learn it's weird and not normal because it's normal for them and all of their siblings/family members (because it's genetic).
@@theashleighdiaries Being able to scratch ya damn back does NOT mean someone has hypermobility syndrome, EDS, etc etc. Source: I have EDS and had to go to a geneticist to get the diagnosis, do a bunch of tests, answer a lot of questions, meet enough of the criteria, and as I do indeed recall correctly, no part of the Beighton score test includes scratching your back, or even going near it for that matter. My fiance can reach every part of his back but can barely touch his toes he's that unflexible. You don't know how long Simon's arms are, how big his hands are, what any of his other joints are like whatsoever or pretty much anything else about his body that could be relevant at all. Stop trying to diagnose people with niche shit over the internet. Oh, and also, simply being a flexible regular person is a thing; you don't need to have a whole connective tissue disorder with part of your goddamn genetic code screwed up to be able to scratch your back effectively. Jfc. And yeah, I'm heated. People suffer immensely due to these disorders, and you're out here throwing that shit around as absolute fact over piss all, with zero information other than the fact that he can SCRATCH HIS BACK. Collect your spoons and use the energy to go touch some grass. ETA: While you're off doing that, I'll just use my literally crippling flexibility to pick up the mic I dropped after that last sentence. Have a swell day.
Simon, with all due respect, I can’t reach parts of my back because of injuries. Not necessarily just back injuries either…shoulder injuries. I would love to still be as flexible as you…cherish it! You will be able to do all the fun activities with your kids that I always wished I could do with mine! ❤😊

Am i the only one who thinks simon is accutually a worldwide criminal mastermind who uses these youtube videos as bolth a front and a giant "dont do this" list for keeping his many crimes a secret.
I was in America at the time of a Harry Potter book launch and picked up one there, not realising that they weren't the same as the British ones. The one that I grabbed, was read by Jim Dale, who was a 70s star of some of the Carry On films and was the 1977 Pete's Dragon villain, Dr. Terminus. So rather than having a British Stephen Fry, they had a British Jim Dale.
Speaking as someone who has lifted weights for years, there are spots on my back I cannot reach. Simon, you are a twig so I expect you’d have no problems hitting all the spots on your back. Once your ribs expand though, you start having trouble as your arms don’t elongate when the ribs expanded. Which is why the backscratcher is such a wonderful invention.
I have a wild theory that these "Long intros" would only be like 2 or 3 minutes if simon would just read the script instead of whine about long intros for 10min 🤯 sounds crazy but if you really think about it the math works out
So many people use bits of wall or tree to scratch their backs. I got old, pulled my shoulder and now am finally able to itch everywhere. I have then itched my back throughout the whole episode.

Jim Dale reads the US Harry Potter audio books - he does have a British accent, but the books use the Americanized texts. Interestingly he has quite a lot of variations in pronunciation throughout his readings of the series.
Jim Dale.is Australian, that could be why he may sound English, he's been living in the US for years because he couldn't get another gig after leaving Neighbors.
An hour of blazin??!! Hell yeah 👍. Love the fact or fiction. You should do more of these
Snoop would prob set that alarm for 4:20, surprised you missed that easy one, Simon!😂
An epic Brain Blaze! Equally epic: we all get to marvel at Simon's new glasses!
Edit: I wish I could see Simon's face when he learns what The Deer Hunter is actually about.
Simon needs a movie reaction channel. If just for one movie. The Deer Hunter.
47:01 As someone with scoliosis and the accompanying spinal surgery, I laughed so hard at this. Thanks Sam for remembering us
I hope watching this in segments doesn't screw up your data because I enjoy longer blazes, even if I have to watch it in parts. Thanks for doing these, Danny and Simon!

If you download it counts as 100% retention I think. Spiffingbrit did a video on it.
My compliments to your memeologist, dear Mr. Whistler.
That "blacklung" comment followed by the classic Skeletor just made me chuckle.
This resulted in me inhaling my morning coffee and subsequently redecorating my wall in an _avant-garde_ new style I have since named the *"Americano-cough-splodge"* .
I'll see you in court, Factboy.

Regina is now Rex, Latin for queen and king respectively (or close enough for my liking)

Simon thinks Michigan is a city within the great State of Chicago. I mean, I guess he gets half a point for knowing the Midwest is a region?
Wait until we tell him about Mackinac.
Nothing wrong with wikipedia
Danny needs to do more of these. Absolutely brilliant. One of the best of these "contest" episodes! Well done lads.
Simon: "The Deer Hunter... I guess it's about hunting deer."
"Um.."
"People watching this who have seen The Deer Hunter.. oh, Simon, you didn't it was a coming of age movie about XYZ"
"Eh, close enough on both counts for Simon."
It's about how the Vietnam War affected a group young men coming of age right at the worst of it and their last activity together before being shipped off was deer hunting.
Could not have asked for a funnier response from Simon, though.
Simon: “Yes. Everyone’s here for a 10 minute introduction Danny” 🙄
Me: genuinely here for Danny’s 10 minute introduction.
oh gods have blessed us today with epic blaze
thank you so much Simon, Sam and Danny
In college, i conveniently lived across the street from a bar (great in winter, no need for snow boots or a coat even on stormy nights) that had 3 sections, a sports bar, a lounge type & one with a dance floor.
Yeah id love a whole video of Danny’s introduction by Simon
These videos are fantastic and I would love to see more, keep up the great work!
This was the perfect way to start the week. Bravo, Simon & Danny!
Absolute BANGER of an episode and my life is better for having seen it. Thanks Simon and Danny!
An Epic Blaze with an Epic Intro?! Fantastic! Thank you, Danny! I love your long intros.
Simon: "is this an actual problem? Can people really not scratch their own backs? It's not that hard!"
Me: *laughs in scoliosis*
Watching this at 6:30 in the morning on my own in the office at work so I can giggle at Simon yelling at at Danny’s epic intro!
Simon's incredulity over the concept of back-scratchers is killing me. 😂 This from the guy who recently broke his collarbone.
Being a bit overweight myself, people are amazed that I can reach every part of my back. I never have to ask anyone for a scratch, especially if I have a pencil or pen nearby. Being fat doesn’t stop my genetic hyper flexibility…yet 😅
My husband though, has the flexibility of an 80yo man at middle aged.
Yeah, like i get the impression he doesn’t try to hide from the fact. I wonder what he’d say about prison reform.
@@eph2vv89only1way "people admired his honesty and him turning his life around"
Sorry kiddo, but the fact that he let 21 people rot in prison to protect his own ass, and then started making money as an actor, doesn't mean he "turned his life around." He just got more opportunities to make money and stopped taking risks...
@@TheHive616 He didn't get the opportunity to make more money until after he turned his life around.
Yes, letting others go to jail was wrong. But we all do things we later regret. This was his.
AFAIK, Regina is for the Queen, Rex is for the King
Over an hour of Blazing....God bless this day ☺️
Yes! Danny is back! I always watch the Blaine Braise but when I find out it is not Danny writing a particular episode my heart sinks a little and I expect much less of the episode.
I see I’m not the only person that squeeed in delight at an epic blaze
There was a woman who is considered to be a serial killer using a theology like "breathandairism" or pretty much convincing people that fasting was healthy for them. Kaitlyn from Ask a Mortician did a video on her last year, I believe.
There's no and, also only 2 i's,it's just breatharianism.

@@alexanderdickerson5836
Oh, unfortunately, I know about Iowa as well, even though it doesn't directly affect me. I live on the border of IL and IA. In an area known as the Quad Cities. I am separated from Iowa only by the Mississippi River. I live about 20 minutes away from Davenport, IA, where the 6-story apartment building partially collapsed earlier this year, back on the 28th of May. That event was 100% preventable, extremely shocking, and horrifically tragic! 😱😤🤬😭
Edit: And yes, although I personally do not smoke marijuana, I am 100% in support of legalization- which was finally achieved here in Illinois in 2019! 💨😶🌫️😁
This it the epic blaze by Dany that I've been asking for. EPIC BLAZE!!!!!!!
An epic blaze just in time for a 3 hour drive to the airport. Brilliant timing simon.
LOL! "BMX Bandit and Angel summoner" from That Mitchell and Webb look. DEEP reference for me, a Canadian, to get and love! Go Simon!
Just so you know we love the OGBB Simon... i even watched the damn ad read. Gonna watch this whole thing right now!
Simon presents to you knowledge in such a way that makes it possible to ignore the cringe. so much cringe. but learning is cool and i like the way he presents the good stuff
Love these epic blazes!!! Bring on the long episodes so I can listen without having to click something new every few minutes
Danny's intros are my favorite thing about Simon's channels, Simon's tangents are 2nd, learning new stuff is 3rd lol
More than an hour of brain blaze?!?! Best surprise ever 😍😍😍😍
11:19 Yes, Simon, yes. We absolutely are here for Danny's wild intros 🎉
Love the intros Danny!!!! Keep them coming!!!! also... if you haven't already turn on closed captioning since apparently, at least on my computer, Simon calls Danny... Daddy XD
@@DahliaVonHellion Lmao, I really hate to break this one to you but scratching your back the specific way Simon can do isn’t physically normal

Danny making up for the video last week that had no introduction and Simon was so happy he fake cried!! Or maybe it was real crying!!🤣🤔
I am TOTALLY HERE for the 10 minute intro!!👏👏👏👏👏
Simon, its REX for a King and Regina for a Queen. I too was wondering about this this past weekend. So I looked it up.
I was going to say this.
I was a little late to view the video.
Thank you Danny for epic introduction to a new epic(?) blaze, may Simon suffer from long introductions like he always has! >:)
Simon, with all due respect, I can’t reach parts of my back because of injuries. Not necessarily just back injuries either…shoulder injuries. I would love to still be as flexible as you…cherish it! You will be able to do all the fun activities with your kids that I always wished I could do with mine! ❤😊
BMX bandit was first thing that came into my head aswell 😂 angel summoner and the BMX bandit..Mitchell and Webb are pure gold 👍
Simon should dedicate a channel to these fact or fake videos
Simon should dedicate a whole channel to just intros. No content, just set ups for content, thats way longer than necessary
He should dedicate a channel to him dedicating channels to things
2 things.
I actually live in Regina, SK Canada. Our semi-official mantra for a long time was “the city that rhymes with fun”
And in Canada, it is now “Court of King’s bench “. When it was “Court of Queen’s Bench” for my whole life prior to Charles taking the throne.
Another epic intro. Thanks Danny.
Good job Danny! 10 min of intro tied to a game to keep Simon going (golf clap). Now an hour script that is 50% intro (bar raises).
Simon: “they used to just give MBE to rich people who hadn’t actually made a difference, now they give them to sports stars!”
Me: “….mkay…”
What a fantastic introduction Danny! Thank you!
Good old epic blaze what a treat thank you fact boi
About hotel rooms, I always strip the bedding hopefully makes it easier for housekeeping cause they'll have to strip it anyways to wash or at least I like to think so
We need a Greatest Examples of Hubris Blaze that ends with the Titan Implosion.
Mitchell and Webb Look is criminally underrated. I swear only me and a few friends ever talk about it, so great to hear a reference!
To be honest the intro is one of Danny's strongest skills. Just like someone has for going off script lol
Am i the only one who thinks simon is accutually a worldwide criminal mastermind who uses these youtube videos as bolth a front and a giant "dont do this" list for keeping his many crimes a secret.
Don’t TH-cam your crimes.
He is actually Moriarty muhaha
I was in America at the time of a Harry Potter book launch and picked up one there, not realising that they weren't the same as the British ones. The one that I grabbed, was read by Jim Dale, who was a 70s star of some of the Carry On films and was the 1977 Pete's Dragon villain, Dr. Terminus. So rather than having a British Stephen Fry, they had a British Jim Dale.
Shoutout to Danny for getting Simon to stand back up
😂
AN EPIC BLAZE! IT'S BEEN YEARS!
I knew the Tim Allen and Michelle Pfeiffer stories from other videos by Simon! Not sure which channel(s)... they tend to blend together.
We suffered a severe drought of epic blazes. No more!
Factboi is raining his greatness upon us, filling our tangent reservoirs with his mighty mighty juice!
