It's my understanding that the clear sight mirror can't be added after the fact. Have you heard otherwise? It seems utterly ridiculous that you wouldn't be able to, but I've heard it multiple times.
Very interesting video - I can understand why Land Rover deleted this during the component shortage but, surely, they can add them back in now (or as an option).
An interesting video on how it all works. I wish it was on my L494 but five sets of actuators, wiring and fitting is going to be memorable price!! I hope the Octa DOES have everything for £180,000!!!….😱😱🙂🙂🙂🙂🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
These videos are worth their weight in gold. But I have to just say how ridiculous it is that the Defender price is going up exponentially with fewer options. My 2024 cost $15K more than my 2020 and is missing the basic convenience options like Clearsight mirror, soft close rear gate, sunglasses holder, etc... Kind of embarrassing for a $90k luxury SUV, but still better than any alternative in the same class, I guess.
I think this is a mix of issues... inflation must be hitting Land Rovers costs.. there are still some supply chain issues and the Defender is selling well so they can keep pushing the price. Land Rover dropped some of the cheaper engine options too so the base models are more expensive.
Any videos on installing a front winch? Or do you suggest hitch box winch unit?. Really enjoy your videos on all the modifications, Simon. Love my 2025 Defender 110.
I am still awaiting news on the Tow Eye Bungs V2 update, which will completely cover the rear tow hooks. Additionally, I am interested in a black exhaust heat shield to complement your current black exhaust tips offering. Looking forward to those updates Simon.
I don't know if it was the camera angle @17:57, but I don't think one of the actuator locating pins actually went fully into the rubber mounting grommet? It seemed to spring back out a bit as Destiny let go. Hope it doesn't shake loose. 🤞
We need a photo of Destiny's hand with measurements. Sourcing a gal with her size hand. I've tried to do this and the fishing tube ends up bending upwards into the cavity above.
Me too. My ‘22 90 had it but I just took delivery on my ‘25 110 and noticed it shipped without this function. I’m sure the parts expense here in the U.S. would significantly exceed the benefit.
Just installed this, no problems, blue tube goes straight up the frame but can get hand in to pull out.
Can’t wait for soft close on all other doors
This is great! This and the clear sight mirror were the two things I'm missing that I want to add. Thanks Simon!

@@cwdressen The dealers won't add it but you can get the pieces and do it yourself. There are many cases out there.
Simon, Destiny is getting so good at doing these tasks it won't be long before you are relegated to a non speaking cameraman role.
Lovely job Simon 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
That's a great modification, if a bit pricey. I've just checked the configurator, and a soft close rear door is back as a £200 option.

Its an odd one... especially as the rear door is heavy ! Lets see if the £180K Octa has it !
That is a great up grade 👍
And well done Destiny she all over it 👍
Mine is early 2021 and has it, I think I'd definitely miss not having it, this is a good upgrade. Any chance you'll tackle fridge retrofit in a video?

We ❤ our soft close... ;-)
Oddly it work so well you hardly notice it is a feature... until you get a car without it !

Twisting the blue fishing tube while pushing it in should make it easier to get round the corners

We did the factory front winch install - its an epic 5 part series

@ Thank you, Simon from St. Petersburg, FL
Now you've got me wondering whether I can get the soft close mechanism from a 2016 RRS and cram it into my Disco 4
Good job! However on a Defender, it's like one more thing to break! It's not a Range Rover, or Discovery, or is it? 😉

I have a prototype V2 tow eye bung - I am looking at a version also with a hole !

The build sheet for my MY25 one being built shows “070BC soft close tail door”. I’ll report back on delivery
Nice to see it back... lets see what the Octa build sheet says !
Got my 2nd Defender X Dynamic HSE last month and it’s not on this time

According to the accessory service manual, the power cable for the soft close actuator is already there and you may not need the extra power cable?
We looked on our 90 and traced the wire back to the connector behind the boot interior light near the fusebox and the wire is missing there.
Very good DIY video… My Defender has a door opener button on the inside. How am I supposed to remove the panel?
Is that our accessory door switch or original fitment ?
@@L663 original fitment
Mine is also fitted with soft close . Nice video to watch and enjoy the how it is working.
👍👍🙏🙏🇬🇧
Spend a shed load of money just to have soft close..... nah I'd stick with closing the door normally. 😂
