      Ok Chris, lot of explaining:
0:52 - Saint Peter -> [PL] Święty Piotr, later named "Piotrek" (diminutive of "Piotr")
1:44 - Well, we are that bad sometimes ;)
2:16 - It's the phone number where you can report domestic abuse
2:25 - "fatso" is a slang term for someone fat - it's just for comedy purpose here
2:30 - Rubin is an old model of CCCP TV sets
2:55 - Poland has long story of wanting visas to US. Now we've been granted that but at the time of creating this show we were still yet to get them.
3:54 - That's why it's funny - he promised them something rather useless
4:36 - Simply she was a wife of 1st polish duke, Mieszko the 1st. I don't reemember if she was pretty or not, but it seems not ;) And Pamela refers ofc to Pamela Anderson :)
4:46 - Grunwald was and still is one of the biggest cause of pride for us Poles - Joint forces of Poles, Lithuanians, Tatars and others soundly defeated Teutonic Knights
6:42 - Lech Kaczyński and Jarosław (Jarek) Kaczyński, they are/were (in)famous (depending on who you support) right wing politicians (and brothers)
7:43 - "Strajku" is a genitive version of a word "Strajk", which means "strike" and it's pronounced similarly to its English (and German as well) version.
7:59 - In short, Lech Wałęsa took major part in freeing Poland from communists. He was kind of leader of all labor workers during the late times of Polish People's Republic (PRL)
9:57 - He simply nicknamed Lucyfer "Lucjan". It is funny because normally you wouldn't give any names to God or Devil, right? ;) And Lucjan is calling the God "Bogu" which is funny version of proper "Boże" ("God" in vocative form).
10:35 - Yes, it is improvised from that point until almost the very end, that is why the audience is having a good time (and those comedians as well).
      11:16 - Yes, it was th-cam.com/video/Qu7JBenGD4E/w-d-xo.html
11:55 - And this song is th-cam.com/video/b6Gdg9hhOas/w-d-xo.html And it was popular once, as well.
12:03 - One of the post-IIWW conferences, during which it was decided that CCCP "took Poland under their umbrella", which we obviously didn't like.
      14:02 - Now, he shouldn't be, that's why it's funny.
15:44 - Yes, Swiss Franks. Too much of explaining, sorry :D
      16:45 - Probably Co**ine ;)
17:48 - Yes, it's a name of a peninsula in Poland, as well as the town at the end of it
      20:52 - Again, it's Lech and Jarek ;)

The Yalta Conference, also known as the Crimea Conference, was a meeting of the leaders of the anti-Hitler coalition (the so-called Big Three), held from February 4 to 11, 1945: USSR leader Joseph Stalin, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It took place in the imperial palace in Livadia, south of Yalta in Crimea. For Poles, Yalta means betrayal by the USA and Great Britain in favor of the occupation of Poland by the Soviets . The Battle of Grunwald in 1410 marked the end of the Teutonic state in Pomerania (Prusy) composed of German monastic knights. After losing this battle, the Teutonic Order had to pay tribute to the Polish king . If you snort something white, you're suggesting cocaine use :)))))))

There are plenty of references to Polish history, politics and lyrics of famous Polish songs
blue line - telephone where you can report and seek help in connection with domestic violence. But I have the impression that it was also supposed to be a joke related to the fact that blue is associated with the sky. (blue- niebieski, sky-niebo,heavenly-niebiański)
Rubin - I think it's about the type of glasses. Although my first thought is a Soviet TV brand. It was once produced in Poland and very popular.
visa to the USA. At the time this was recorded, Poles needed visas to go to the USA. From 2019, only an ESTA is needed for trips up to 90 days.
Dobrawa - Czech princess, wife of Mieszko I. Their wedding was part of the Polish-Czech alliance and was related to the baptism of Poland (966). Not much is known about her. There is a common belief in Poland that Dobrawa was not pretty. It is not known whether this was true. There are conflicting sources about it from that period. It could also be due to the fact that at the time of her marriage to Mieszko, she was described as old. It's just worth taking into account that in the Middle Ages, girls got married when they were in their teens, and she could probably be a little over 20, and that's why it was considered an old wed to get married in those times.
There is a film called "Krzyżacy" based on the school's compulsory reading and historical novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz. It presents the conflict between the Jagiellonian dynasty and the Teutonic Order.
Lech and Jarosław Kaczyński. Twin brothers. They founded the right-wing political party PIS in 2001. Currently one of the two largest political parties in Poland. Lech Kaczyński was the Polish President. He died in an airplane accident in Smoleńsk.
Lech Wałęsa - was an electrician at the Gdańsk shipyard. He was an important figure who took part in creating trade unions and fighting for rights during the Polish People's Republic, for which he was arrested many times. He was also with one of the people who sat at the round table in 1989. In 1990, he became the first president of Poland to be elected by general election.
(I don't go to heaven) do nieba nie chodzę - Szymon Wydra. I would describe it as one of those old Polish hits.
The original lyrics of the song are "będę brał cię w aucie" ("I'll take you in the car"), but they made a word play with the word Yalta.(aucie-Jałcie)
Yalta Conference - established by the leader of the ZSSR Joseph Stalin, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and USA President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. For Poles, it mainly meant betrayal of Great Britain and the USA and leaving us to Stalin and the loss of eastern lands to the ZSSR.
Credit in Swiss francs - a popular type of credit in Poland in 2005-2008. The price of the fean was extremely low back then, so it was worth taking it. Many people did not meet the conditions for a credit in PLN, but they did meet the conditions for a credit in Swiss francs, so many people took it. Back then, 1 franc was about 2zł, but after 2008 it quickly increased to 3.50zł and then to 5zł. Credits with low interest rates, which were considered the best at that time, led many people to bankruptcy after the exchange rate jump. Many people went to court at that time.
something white, white powder - drugs
Hel peninsula - fun fact, there used to be a bus line number 666 there. Unfortunately, it was removed a year ago
17:56 another reference to the song LiberxSylwia Grzeszczak - co z nami będzie
    20:56 Lech and Jarosław Kaczyńśki

I think, that it could be about the different Blue Line: the hotline of the Polish Telecommunications SA - right after the privatization of this state-owned telephone company in 2002-2003. The company was bought by a French telecom that was unable to manage it. Among other things, it was impossible to call the hotline, and when you already connected with someone from customer service, the staff couldn't help, it was completely lost and ineffective. People told each other a lot of stories about it. The case was famous because at that time landline telephony was used more or less on an equal footing with mobile telephony. A scandal broke out and many, many jokes about the Blue Line and allusions to it. The French and their hotline became a symbol of comic incompetence and disgrace. When the French president of the company was fired and the management board was taken over by Poles, everything returned to normal in 2003.

Yes. Everything you wrote is correct. I would also add to this:
      1. Gruby (Fat): In a sketch, Saint Peter addresses a fictional character called "Fat" with an offensive epithet, referring to their obesity.
      2. Yes, it was an old Windows, and that's why Saint Peter promised something old and shabby, like a typical Polish politician. And that's why it was funny 🙂
      3. And yes, in this version, there was improvisation. One of the actors improvised so much that even his fellow cabaret members found it hard to keep a straight faces.

The Teutonic Knights were monks, but the order was German. So it's not entirely a Polish-German war. On the part of the Teutonic Knights, half of Europe was fighting, and this is because the paper excommunicated Poland for these wars, which has not been lifted to this day.
In the final phase, the Battle of Grunwald was more of a massacre of the Teutonic Knights than a battle. That is why, to this day, Germans do not like to mention it. But firstly, it was the biggest battle of those times, and secondly, many technical innovations were used. E.g. Poles drawbridge. It's worth reading. Interesting topic.

1410 the Battle of Grunwald (or Tannenberg for Germans) was the only date my history teacher wanted me to remember. It's so important because that battle was a game changer for the Central-Eastern Europe. Of course events took much more time to turn around but from that battle they started to slowly fall in place. In order to win against the Teutonic Knights Poland formed an alliance with the Duchy of Lithuania which was the last pagan state in Europe. Jagiello became the king of Poland and accepted Christianity and later christianised Lithuania. Lithuania at that time included modern Belarus and Ukraine i.e. the entire Kievan Rus which was Orthodox. So in the battle of Grunwald on the one side there were the Catholic Teutonic knights joined by knights from all over Western Europe, and on the other Polish Catholics, Lithuanian pagans, Ruthenian Orthodox, and Tatar Muslims. After winning that battle Poland convinced Vatican that conversion by force was a bad idea and it's better to do that out of people's free will. Poland and Lithuania created first a personal union and later a union of two nations that would jointly last nearly 500 years. That was the longest lasting union in Europe's history known as the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with was a multiethnic state with freedom of religion protected by law. Another outcome was the Teutonic knights were forced to pay for all the Polish property they raided and it was so much money that they went bankrupt. That later led to the creation of the Duchy of Prussia (a vassal of Poland) and the Royal Prussia (Poland's province). A century later, when the Protestant Revolution arrived into Poland, we avoided the bloodshed you had in Germany, even though most of Polish nobles and townsmen converted to various Protestant religions. All major Protestant Churches were active in Poland, and it was very common for brothers or husband and wife to go to different churches on Sunday. Of course we also had other religions, like the Armenian Church or the largest number of Jews in the world. Poland remained a multiethnic state until the end of WW2 when Hitler killed Jews and Stalin expelled Germans from Poland and Poles from our former Eastern territories which he annexed to the USSR. Today Poland is known as the most homogenous country in Europe but it's contrary to our history.

The thing about this specific show was that the 2 remaining actors on the stage were pranked (and clearly you can see how surprised they were) by the actor who played Lucjan (Lucifer) from the backstage. They were having script until the phone call - this is when Lucjan started going off the script, and this is why they've broke and laughed too.

All these jokes are very local. The Battle of Grunwald was a victorious battle against all of Western Europe, after which there were no conflicts between Poland and any country of Western Europe for almost 400 years. Which was a phenomenon in Europe, where wars were one after another.

    @bonbonpony 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

02:31 It was a brand of old cathode-ray-tube TVs produced in the Soviet Union, quite popular in Poland, and quite famous for catching fire when their paper capacitors dried out.
02:52 Well, long story short, despite Polish politicians butt-licking the U.S. for so long, Poland is probably the only European country which still needs visas for visiting U.S. So joking about "getting a visa" has become synonymous with something you can wait forever, kinda like the phrase "when the hell freezes over".
03:55 Yup, that's the point. Especially on a floppy disk. Although there might be a subtle joke about Polish government offices which often still use very dated hardware and software.
04:35 She was a Czech princess. And when I say "princess", I mean only the title, not the looks. He then says about Dratewka slaying her with a sulfur-stuffed sheep, which is part of a legend in which the slayed dragon has been replaced with Dobrava, the princess. She must have been very ugly ;)
06:40 The Kaczyński brothers (twins). One was a Polish president, the other was a head of the ruling party, PiS (Law & Justice, only by name though :q ).
07:58 Another Polish president, a Nobel prize laureate, one of the founders of Solidarność (Solidarity) movement. I'm surprised that you've never heard about him.
08:19 Poles are kinda like the Gauls in "Asterix & Obelix" - they want to be free and independent, so they're a pain in the arsch to authoritarian countries who want to dominate them, and always making trouble there by disobeying the rules.
08:58 Nope. He said that they've already been in hell, but even there they were unwelcome. Although this might suggest that Poles could withstand hell due to their perseverance they learned living in Poland.
09:09 Nope. "Piotrek" is just a diminutive of "Piotr" (Peter). It's like "little Pete" or "Petey". St. Peter is "Święty Piotr".
09:55 Well, it's Lucifer calling, but the God dude called him "Lucjan" to make his name sound Polish (Lucjan is a Polish name that came from the same Latin root word "lux" meaning "light"). It also suggests that God and Lucifer are bros, they know each other very well and they're in relatively good relations.
10:11 Krystyna Czubówna is known for her deep, soothing voice. That's probably what Lucian needs the most right now, considering the hangover & stuff ;)
    10:33 Yup :)
12:48 My bet is on Fiodor Dostojewski, a Russian writer, the author of "Crime and Punishment".
14:01 Well, according to Hebrew mythology, he was one of the most prominent archangels of God, who was too ambitious and wanted to rule the world, because he believed that he can do that better than God. According to one legends, he was thrown away from the Heavens for mutiny and became a fallen angel. According to others, God let him prove himself by letting him rule the Earth, so that he could see for himself that it's not that easy, and that his ideas lead to hell on Earth, not the paradise that he thought he would bring. There's even a connection between the Latin name "Luciferrus" (the Light Bearer) and Prometheos from Greek mythology (which also means "the Light Bearer"), who was also kicked out of Mount Olympus (the Greek counterpart of the Heavens) for sharing the secrets of Gods with the Human kind (one of those secrets was how to make fire - the starting point of civilization and science).
15:43 There was a time when banks offered loans in CHF to Polish people, convincing them that it will be more beneficial to them due to conversion rates (which were good at that time). What they didn't tell them is that these rates are about to change, so lots of people got scammed and had to pay much more than they borrowed when the conversion rate of CHF skyrocketted.
    14:43 Cocaine :J
17L:6 Yup. The little wiener In the middle of the northern coast. Technically it's "Hel" (with one "L"), not "Hell". But in speech, it sounds the same.
20:52 Well, in the original story, it was Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. But in this story, it's the Kaczyński brothers again.

3:50 The joke here is that these are very bad promises. 3 million apartments to be built is an election promise (they have to build them to have them;).
4:39 Mieszko is King of Poland, he marries Dobrawa from the Czech and is baptized.
5:53 Word play on the word "układ". "Układ" - pact between swomeone or "Układ okresowy" - Periodic table
6:47 Politicians (Leaders) of PIS party. Twin broders Lech and Jarosław Kaczyńscy.
7:57 Polician (co-founder) of Solidarity party Lech Wałęsa.
9:58 Lucyfer calling and he name him Lucian (like softening of the name). Lucian is Polish first name.
12:35 Yalta is the peace conference after WW2. Poland end up under ZSRR ocupation.
15:44 Loan in francs. A big affair in Poland when it turned out that these favorable loans, which id&ts took out in francs, stopped being profitable after some time due to the change in the exchange rate of money. The government, trying to gain voters, launched programs to help franc loan borrowers.
16:46 Narcotics powder is white, and you inhale it. "Someting white you inhale I presume".

Blue Line - this is the so-called helpline. An ambiguity was used here, because blue line can also be translated as heaven line.
RUBIN was a popular TV set during the Polish People's Republic.
Regarding visas, for a long time obtaining a visa in Poland was almost impossible.
Yes, the reference to Windows 95 is also mocking, i.e. "we promise you something that is outdated and no longer needed, and you will be happy with it." And the sketch is probably from 2015, not 2000 ;)
Yes, in Poland we have three types of car tires: winter, summer and all-season ;)

Please... Lech Wałęsa was the president of Poland, one of the most popular Polish presidents, also a Nobel Prize winner. de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lech_Wa%C5%82%C4%99sa

    11:16 th-cam.com/video/Qu7JBenGD4E/w-d-xo.html - here is that song.
12:10 - The Yalta Conference, which had a decisive significance for the fate of post-war Europe, began on February 4, 1945. It became a symbol of the Allies' betrayal of Poland and their consent to subordination. The song is from the once popular song "I'll take you in the car" - link: th-cam.com/video/e3TekPV15Qg/w-d-xo.html
15:35 Loans in Swiss francs were very popular in Poland due to low costs - now there are problems with repayment, after the Swiss franc skyrocketed a few years ago.
16:45 - "something white", a reference to amphetamine - white is also associated with purity and God.
16:59 - The idea was to ring the bell via a rope held by the actor.
We have a peninsula called Hel (like the element), but there is a reference to Hell. And the next sequence "what will happen to us when we find ourselves at a bend" is a quote from a popular song.
NeoNówka as a cabaret consists only of these three people, but in addition to them there is also a music band and a whole staff of people responsible for the control room, lighting, etc.
Disulfiram works by blocking an enzyme that is involved in the breakdown of alcohol. Therefore, it causes increased feelings related to alcohol poisoning and its consequences. In exc The term "Action 'Wszywka'" was used in the sketches. This action helps people addicted to alcohol.

Loan in francs - Shortly before this happened, loans in francs became very popular in Poland and then suddenly world crisis came and hit hard. People that got that loans in francs are paying them off to this day and the total sum they had to pay off is more than twice of what they would have to pay if they took it in polish złoty.. Their matters are important thing in politics to this day as there's enough of them to make a difference in elections.
And the deeper backstory is that the guy that played the God in this one had taken such loan, or so he said in a later interview about how this epic improvisation on stage with them laughing by being taken off guard happened. (This is by many considered the best cabaret in polish history).
As for Lech and Jarek/Jarosław - Those are twins that were active in Polish politics. Lech became president somewhere before that time (later died in airplane catastrophe in Smoleńsk) and the leader of PIS part to this day (previous ruling party, and I think at the time PIS just won elections )
Lech Wałęsa was first polish non-communist president and leader od Solidarność movement which helped to overthrow communism in Poland. At the time he was considered a hero by some poles (later there came out things that changed a lot how he's seen now)

the thing with rope is quite simple, old phones from 80s/early 90s were two connected parts earpiece/receiver and main phone station where you choose numbers and lucjan by asking if god's calling from rope meant to ask if he still has old phone

One of me favorite performances ever and yeah, I bet it is very hard to understand all the references without living in Poland for a long while. Especially the part with Lucifer, Lucy just throws random cultural and political references and it's all improvised, I remember how much I laughed at it as a teen 😂 there's only a few other performances that had me rolling so much

if it comes to tiers - yeah we have difrient tipes of tiers. We have 2 types of winter - for snow/mud and for wet, summer and all season. In big cities people prefer to use all season but in smaller towns and on the countrysides different types are used more often due to less traffic, which means that the roads are more snow-covered in winter. Additionally, people living in apartments often have no place to keep two sets of tires.

I was in this new one, it was terrible, they did a good job. But if any of you are close to Wiślica, there is also a museum, the best one I have seen so far. Films on the walls with lasers marking the bricks on the walls. I recommend it, come by, it's worth the ticket price of PLN 20.
