My friend went to Japan and wrote about his experiences there. Tough times for visitors but their hospitality was great. I put it together in a book for him. Great video. I wish my friend had a chance to see Geisha.
That book is full of Many líes please read the biography of mineko Iwasaki ir wacth a documentary call real geisha real women ir geisha girl from BBC I Also recomend You a studio call erasa or somenthing like that to do a maiko henshin transformación is really cool
What a great video, I have bee to Kyoto several times now, and I love it! It is to my mind the best place to visit in Japan for tourists due to the Temples etc. Do what ever you can to save the money to go there as I did and you won't regret it. The people are truly kind, and all the young people are taught English in school. So visit soon!
She is a Maiko, Geisha in training. Long Obi, long kimono sleeves, and a red collar. She is still beautiful, however. This is my favorite part of Japanses culture; their Geishas.
You're mistaken, really. There is no such rule. The rule there is (and not in all towns and districts) is that they refuse first-timers that try to organize a party without having an introduction from a regular customer. This is not particularly aimed at foreigners, and applies only to the organizer - he is allowed to invite first-timers, foreigners, whatever (his status with the establishment will suffer if they misbehave).
Anita, if you live in the U.S. as I do, then you should learn that we have taken most of our traditions from other countries. Though it is mainly from the countries of Europe, not Asia. (Though it would be nice to have some Japanese traditions too.)
Depending on where you're from I would give the advice to read "Geisha. A life" (US!) or "Geisha of Gion" (UK!) from Mineko Iwasaki... It is way better than Arthur Goldens "Memoirs". And you get a real glimpse of the geisha world, because one of the ladies Arthur Golden interviewed to wrote it, to make clear that the "facts" of his book are NOT true.
Feel like im a little late and shit... But i just wanted to say that this would be a cool experience. Altough i'd be nervous as shit going to a traditional japanese place like this as a turkish/finnish person😬
i wish i went little bit more outside tokyo. i was there for cca 10 days, only city and crowd. i would really like to see sea shore and nature. see my video btw.
Is call kompira fune fune. Is easy You touch or move that object at the rithym of the song and ir geta faster every time, You must touch it with the Open hand but is the other perdón take it You must close your hand like a pump and touch the table that way, if si it Bad You loose and You drink.
They sell the art not their bodies! Very offensive! Geisha are not prostitutes like back then courtesans!!! Mizuage is no longer! They are awesome beautiful artist! Please take in serious consideration! Thanks! Arigatou gozaimasu! ^_^
Define "happily" and define "rich". I've lived in the US all my life- it's the best place in the world for personal liberty. I'm quite "happy" with that, penniless or not. I make about $70,000 a year. Am I rich? No, but way better off than the majority of the people on this planet. Ask just about any immigrant (legal or not) here in the States if they're "happy" or "rich"- they wouldn't come here thousands a day otherwise. How "rich" does one need to be, to be "happy"?
which country would you say is better? Did you know after the war we gave democracy to them? No other country is more generous with its time and money. We give millions of dollars to other countries and help countries that are being annihilated by dictators. USA is not perfect but it is the most free.
ehcatog: Thanks- there are other countries with specific advantages over the States, but overall, none compare. I WOULD like the US to be more careful and respectful, but our politicians are usually quite wealthy, and I don't know any humble wealthy people. At the same time, without American intervention since her creation, the world would be considerably more dismal. As to other countries being "Americanised", well hey, the people know what they like! ;) (that being freedom, of course)
You sound exactly like me 2 years ago. Then i did not have a penny and i was happy. Now i make 20 times more but no use. But, i am not happy. I dont discredit your point, because i strongly defended your point in the past and i know the merits and demerits of this view.
I hate how all the culture of Japan is dying... Soon there will be no Geisha left, and no Japanese girl will be crying about it. But a lot of elderly people and foreigners will be.
Wishing to change the past and place blame is a whiner's pasttime. And it won't change the future, either. How about this: Wish into one hand, and shit into the other, and see which fills up first!
Uh...what's an American tradition that was done for a few centuries??? Are you talking about the U.S.?? Cause the United States is only about 3 centuries old...and if you want to go way back, then I guess, there's the Native Americans..but I don't know if people are willing to hunt buffalo and live in tipis...no offense to Native Americans...
Tha whte guy dressed in the kimino loking things...he is also one forbidden love:geisha. And says spends all his money on geisha....to the point where his wife and him can't own ahome. Kinda sad.
LOLOL, what a stupid comment. Anything to talk bad about Americans. One of accents is CLEARLY not American. OMG I'm laughing so hard. How exactly does a n American go about stealing a tradition? Who stole it exactly? I live in the US and I have not found the ancient Japanese ways but I'll keep looking. If we stole it it should be here somewhere. ***Great video, very interesting.***
Yeah, the good 'ol USA did all that for nothing. Sure. Had nothing to do with Japanese invasion of other countries who were allies or friends of good 'ol USA. Had nothing to do with Japanese imperialism. Japan had no bases in the Pacific Rim? Nope, no good reason at all here!
So what you're saying is that because the West didn't share resources with Japan, it was OK for Japan to go to war with its neighbors. That's OK then! And, no, I didn't say the war started because of the slavery!? Ya know what? You're just another one of those people who whine about the past, wishing "bad" things had never happened. How far back ya wanna go? Shall all of the East demand apologies and reparations from Mongolia? Howabout from Italy (the Roman Empire)?
thank you for this, geisha's are beautiful-thanks for explaining what they really do, and not exploiting them.
wish to go to kyoto some day.
My friend went to Japan and wrote about his experiences there. Tough times for visitors but their hospitality was great. I put it together in a book for him. Great video. I wish my friend had a chance to see Geisha.

I hope I can visit Japan someday. It looks soooooo beautiful!!!

Sweet. :) she was really charming; thanks for posting this!
I love it! Now I have to look more up of that pavilion. Thanks so much!!

She is a Maiko, Geisha in training. Long Obi, long kimono sleeves, and a red collar. She is still beautiful, however. This is my favorite part of Japanses culture; their Geishas.

Hello, Would you be able to tell me what episode this is and when it aired? That would be great. Cheers.
Very good, very interesting.
So which country do you think is the greatest? Which country has done more good?
Very eloquent. Thank you.
That young Geisha is so cute, especially when she laugh. I thought Geisha wouldn't laugh much.

I love it!!!
Grass is allways green other side. Many japanese envy US.
They say life is just boring here.
Anita, if you live in the U.S. as I do, then you should learn that we have taken most of our traditions from other countries. Though it is mainly from the countries of Europe, not Asia. (Though it would be nice to have some Japanese traditions too.)
I decided yesterday I'm gonna move to kyoto.. I'm gonna do it!!
So did you?
@anner442 i lived in japan for 3 1/2 years and never saw one either. maybe they only have them in places like kyoto. never been to kyoto.
@jojiojp Wow. Thank's for pointing that out. I believe they are called Shikomi? The Geisha Culture is so fascinating! I love Geisha!
A shikomi is a girl.who is un training to be a maiko
I don't much about the geisha, but she was laughing without covering her mouth. Pretty modern, no? Great upload btw...
I have yet to afford a trip to Japan to explore it's beauty and it's wonders.
Depending on where you're from I would give the advice to read "Geisha. A life" (US!) or "Geisha of Gion" (UK!) from Mineko Iwasaki... It is way better than Arthur Goldens "Memoirs". What did he say from 3:45 ?
@Mangakanonashkaino yes yes is beauty Japan i need to go!!!
So what.. I like this clip.
1:53 i always see this geisha in other documentries
No, geiko is what the geisha call themselves, meaning 'woman of art' or 'women of art'
Look at that guy giggling when he meets her. like he's 15 again.
i was only talking at personal level (not society).
"in the USA are deteriorating." - now i understand what you are talking about.
i LOVE JAPAN 100000000000%
doesn't every city in Japan have a geisha?
pray for japan
i wish i went little bit more outside tokyo. i was there for cca 10 days, only city and crowd. i would really like to see sea shore and nature. see my video btw.
can somebody explain me that game ?

@aoiahiru Thanks !
She is not a geisha. She is a geiko.

Thier accents are so harsh. And this is coming from a New Zealander. We sound more American I reckon.
