comparing the sound of diy speaker with a bass reflex and a passive radiator.
    I made these speaker myself.
here is a list of components:
    Visaton W 100 S/8
    Visaton SC 10 N/8
    MUNDORF MR10 non-inductive metal film Resistor 10W 10 Ohm
    MUNDORF L140 Air Core Coil 1.4mm 0.68mH
    MUNDORF MCAP Capacitor 250V 2.2μF
bass reflex diameter 76 mm. length 380 mm.
    passive radiator Peerles sds 3.5"
    acoustics body volume 10 liters
if you are interested, I will make a video about the acoustic filter for these speakers

Obviously you know those things are tuned at different frequency. The reflex port is depends of long and diameter but passive radiator depends of the weight set in the back side.
You have to tune at the same frequency to get a real opinion. Greetings.

I used 1 6 inch passive with 2 4 inch Dayton audio woofers and it gets real low.. I also built one with 2 4 inch passives with the 2 4 inch woofers and I think the passives need to be maybe 2 5 inch with the 2 4 inch drivers. Always use bigger passive then driver.

I think you should use two passive radiators for each box. Since the passive radiator only 3.5inch while the woofer is 4 inch. I'm modifying my cheap Bluetooth speaker with passive radiator and the result quite nice.

That's true passive radiator should be 1.5-2x bigger than woofer

I did the same I feel you but I have to say passive for bigger speakers isn’t recommended unless you don’t care for space and weight 😆 nice comparison crazy how air affects sound pressure and the tuning

The bass sounds definitively fuller with the bass reflex. But bit over the top - bit undefined. Perhaps somewhere in between. The passive radiator sounds thin in comparison. Btw love the second track!!! Cheers mate!!!

I think you should do this test on 6.5 inch or 8 inch speakers. On this little drivers the difference too small to make a clear derision. Needs to move a bit more air (larger mid-woofer) and larger passive radiator also. I think I would go with the BR tube for better bass

the sound on the ones with a passive radiator: The bass is not that audible because the size of the enclosure is big enough for that passive radiator speaker system. and the passive radiator used is small. It should be bigger than the driver itself. Hope you can hear some audio samples of pioneer S-922 enclosure and you'll change what you think about passive radiators.

I would do ONLY passive radiators... WITH the bass reflex. Boom goes the Dynamite. 😎

How about running both designs at the same time? I’m listening to this on my HomePod Mini (which actually have two passive radiators) and It seems to me like both designs pick up frequencies that other doesn’t. Running both using an A/B speaker switch would be my choice.

Al escapar el aire por el tubo los radiadores pasivos no funcionarian, para que funcionen los radiadores pasivos debe estar cerrado herméticamente la caja
