Another update : they have momentarily stopped selling as they can't keep up with demand.
Simply put, in regards to Drop :
~ 300 purchases before this video was published (the buy was running for a while)
~ 900 purchases about 10 hours later.
Their Aliexpress store was also swamped. Sorry about this, but there should be more opportunities in the future :)
yooo, I literally waited ONE DAY before trying to order it, and it went out of stock the day after you uploaded this video... I'm upset :(
lmao
Unlucky
Yesterday it was at 130USD now it's unavailable, guess we are waiting for the next batch.
I was deliberating for weeks, then I saw this video and ordered within 5 minutes. GG. Thanks for the review!
ahhhh. i was wondering why some of the comments were saying $160. it's unfortunate, but the aliexpress seller has bumped up the price a few hours after I published this video 😡 when I purchased this a month ago, it was 111usd on Aliexpress, and then before I uploaded this video, it was around 130usd, which I still thought was acceptable. I'm not affiliated in anyway to them, but I'll see what I can do. if anything. sorry about this 😥
thank you! you're an angel for budget people haha.
What a dick move by them
I just checked and it’s $261.83 AUD holy smokes
Is that 1.5 Ctrl and alt with 1.75 shift?
It's not even available on Taobao
yeh sorry. wish i coulda uploaded this earlier to give people who are interested a chance for the drop buy. but it's available on aliexpress anyway. also, i bought this myself because i was so keen to check it out. so I wasn't given this for review :)
ali express link doesnt work
@@angles711 yea same for me
TaeKeyboards Could you make a review on a ergo 45% next? ;-;
Its still up on drop for 9 hrs.
Just got mine on drop, trying to go with mx zilents. Any lube recommendations?
Great video - was sorry I missed out on this one. Sound test might be the best sounding board I've heard yet. 👌
BadSeed Tech cool
I love u
Rakesh Gupta lol
In stock on their website btw
Tfues keyboard by Novelkeys and Nathan would be my pick
picked one of these up for myself REAL QUICK. Im new to this stuff so I wanted something more on the entry level instead of diving head-first into this stuff about group-buys and and these crazy things. This one doesn't force me to go and buy soldering equipment and it lets me deal with the easier parts of finding switches and a nice keycap set. Thank you for showing this thing off and thank you TH-cam recommended for showing me this.
He’s finally blessing us cheapskates with a budget option again🙏
do you consider 130 $ just for the case a budget option ? cuz i dont
@@kklejdi6752 it is in this hobby. Unless you want shitty plastic.
@@kklejdi6752 this isn't 130$ just for the case its $130 for the whole thing bar switches. On drop its $110 as well.
@@JacobThomas0212 it doesnt come with switches or key caps. only the case, stabilizers, screws etc
@@kklejdi6752 This niche costs a bit too much unless you go for the gaming stuff which is still nice and mounts cherrymx.
Never had mechanical keyboard and never typed on it but just listening sound of this switches is just satisfying
@@EeBee97 im getting gk61 with optical switches ik its not as good but at least its hot swappable and can lube it , also i like linear (black, red) switches and this keyboard only costs 50 usd
I think this is my favorite sound in a mechanical keyboard, just wow.
@@wonkaytry Yeah same! Really liked the sound, can you repeat what switches you used for this build @TaeKeyboards ?
@@jonasdenil He used Gateron Ink blacks and Khail Box white for the F row and some mods
love the sound of the keyboard. If I get different key caps will it loss the original sound. @TaeKeyBoard
@@owendraycott7214 I know this is really late, but it slightly can, depends on what material the keycaps are made of.
I got the ID80 from Taobao a few months after watching this video. It is my first custom build! I built with with mixture of Kailh Box and Speed switches topping it up with MAXKEY SA caps, primarily use for gaming. I'm satisfied with the purchase and don't regret not waiting for the V2. I would like to thank you for the intro of this board!
The more spaced out 75% boards are beautiful, this board and something like the satisfaction 75 are amazing. The more squashed looking 75s, they feel too "claustrophobic" for me to enjoy using. This is great
Finally a 75% board thats hotswap. Thank you so much for the review Tae! Top quality as always!
It is actual revision, no NEW revisions. On DROP pictured OLD version. Just got mine from aliexpress yesterday. It's gorgeous
just got mine in the mail from drop.. like 2 months late. but i had to come straight back to this video as i put mine together. it looks great, feels amazing with my lubed NK creams, now I just need a better keycap set. thanks Tae!
I'm a motion graphics artist and work on a tablet. This keyboard is just small enough to have next to my wacom and I love the placement of the delete/pgUp/pgDn keys as well as the isolated directionals. I'm super stoked to work on this thing every day!
That form factor is on the sweet spot for both game and productivity.
So far, your build has the best sound for this keeb compared to others'
Literally just bought this because of this video. My first ever mech, looking forward to it!
How'd it go?
@@victorgaudin1858 Very good. Would recommend getting different stabs though.
to people complaining about the title, this is the cheapest alu 75% keyboard you're probably going to find (cheaper or about the same as the kbd75) with the addition of a way better layout.
i was almost sold on this but the giga radius on those corners + is killing me, the side bezels should probably be at least the same width as the fkey spacers. also would be nice to have another key on the right like 7v but i guess that's due to the polaris pcb
I was really on the fence about getting this the other day and then watched this video and it made my decision much easier. Glad I got it before drop ran out and the price on aliexpress went up, thats crazy that the sales went up that fast after you put out this vid
I'm glad to see a more detailed review of the id80, I was surprised how it good it sounds in the video when it sounded pretty hollow with my typing test. Im also glad that I wasn't the only one who only recieved 3 stabilizers in the packaging
do you have same issue with bottom piece and stabilizers? 🤔
literally just ordered one since I'm waiting on a KBD75 pcb to ship out, honestly considering cancelling the order of that PCB & plate all together and rock this for a while. If not, I will soon enough have 2 75% boards added to my collection. Awesome video man, it came in clutch since the drop ends tomorrow.
That sound test was spectacular
Pcb is originally designed for the taobao board commonly known as polaris75 and is repurposed to be used here.
Also your version is the newer one with the bigger top bezel.
I messaged the seller before purchasing around 8 or 9 days ago and they said the newest version has the thin top bezel. They removed mention of the thicker top bezel from the listing as well.
9:21 typing test
kailh white box switches ?
@@itamarflores9238 Gateron Ink Blacks.
Why would you need a typing test on a vid like this?
@@driesleeuws2857 Why would you need a typing test on a video about a keyboard... ?
@@noshotracing these things are always diffrent so none of these things sound the same.
Thank you for making such informative and relevant content, to help out the newcomers 😍
A lifesaver, I couldn't find any videos on this. Thank you man!
the sound is great for a custom mech at this pricepoint, maybe i will cop this board in the future
I just bought this from Drop! I can't wait to get it to get here and to be able to make a build with it!
I just picked this board up! This, some Halo True switches, and the MelGeek Nihon keycap set! Super hyped on this and hopefully, the fitting issues are tweaked out!
The typing sounds from those Gateron Ink Blacks sound like raindrops falling on the awning of a cafe.
this is exactly my type of keyboard, thank you TaeKeyboards! I'll save up money for a year or two.
how much you got now???
@@trini1348 about 34 bucks. im not working just yet
Great video. At 2:30, for some Kailh switches, the LEDs won't hold down the switch as the LED sits under the switch in a gap in the lower housing which sits below a clear flat part on the upper housing. This would allow you to have through-hole soldered LEDs and still be able to take advantage of the hot swap terminals.
which LED size to choose?
@@friedrich1277 I used 2x3x4mm flat top LEDs and they fit well into Kailh Box jades
*sighs* goes to Aliexpress and promptly buys a grey one. Been looking for a layout like this in hot swap that won't break the bank. idk how I've not heard of this one before.
just found this, its back in stock on ali; I'm in the same boat as you, wanted a tkl or similar that isn't super expensive
Didn't expect to see you here. Keep up the great work. Miss you!
This comment is super late and you probably already figured this out, but the through-hole LEDs actually still make sense on a hotswap board. There are "SMD" switches like from Gateron, Gazzew, etc that fit over a regular 2X3X4 LED (the LEDs being soldered to the board and then the switch just sits over top of it). In fact the red switch you showed in your video is one of them. Obviously, if you go this route it will severely limit your hotswap options to select switch types.
thx. 2 days before i watched the video you posted the comment i need 👏
I just started to look into doing another custom keyboard, I no longer have a soldiering iron and wanted to go on a budget so your video was at perfect timing!
Thanks for the review! Ordered mine on drop a few days ago, so your review comes at a great time!
back in my day, there was a candle on the microphone. Great video as always!!!
The sound is just superb
Really nice informative vid dude. Think you have me sold!
Just went and bought it! With acrylic base! 😈
wow that integrated plate really makes a sound difference
Mine should be here any day now. I really wanted to try it when I saw it go live on AliExpress.
I did the same thing after clipping the stabs on my first build, glad I'm not the only one
Glad that i picked it up on drop. Sounds really great imo
Love the sound of that board!
Typing on this board right now with some Gateron Black Inks :) Thanks for putting me on, TaeKeyboards! Gat Black Inks are my all-time favs now
I got lucky I bought this for my first build. So excited!!! Now I'm just doing research on which tactile switch to get
go with kailh box navy at novelkeys or zealiosv2 at zealpc this tactile switches rocks
@@hawktuah2023 I have hako royals on a keyboard style fight stick I made but for PC gaming I fall like it would be too tactile. I'm trying to get a switch tester to try a tactile switches out but it's hard to find some. If you have some to spare let me know!
That keyboard's perfect. just need it it even lower profile for low profile kahls and I'm going to make the first swappable low-pro keycaps that are going to change the game, man!
This is an incredibly beautiful keyboard
>someone finally mentions affordable good quality mech
>it's sold before you finish watching watching thw video
>feelsbadman
Check their website, they're totally in stock
@@asherfilms923 I wait a bit before buying. The seller has bumped the price due to the high demand
My ears omg this keyboard sounds sooo good
11:07 i see wendy i press like. The sound of this mech is really good... propably my fav.
The only problem with the layout is F1 needs to be directly above the number 2, to have the same standard layout as a TKL. Otherwise, it’s an amazing new layout that I think people who want the F-keys will flock to. I’m waiting for the Bella from kbdfans to come back, or cop the 7V soon.
Anyone else watching this video everyday waiting for there Drop order to ship because theyre so excited to you're build?
I've been waiting for something like this. Thank you for making this video!!
Bought it once it dropped. Love the idea of a 75%
Love it how you review the mechs that I'm always interested in. In this particular board, I was very close to buying it at a aliexpress sale and with coupons I would have got it for 90$, which would have been an awesome price. Too bad they are raising prices as the board is getting traction :|
Maybe the best sounding keyboard
Nice I am currently looking for a beginner board to build! Perfect timing
"Affordable" is a delicate word when it comes to mechanical keyboards...
Just an FYI, if you need cheap dielectric grease autozone sells it in small single use packets for very cheap.
This will be on sale soon on candykeys so that’s great because I live in Belgium.
Honestly this looks like a really good starting board or even a good test board for experimenting with different types of switches.
IDOBAO is now selling their ID87 as a GB on their site. Its retailing at $168 USD + Shipping. Looks to be a TKL build now. Such a shame they upped the price on these builds as the price point of closer to $100 was just amazing for people
Nice! I'm glad you like this board. I ordered one on a whim about a month ago through Ali express and it should be here this week. Really looking forward to it. I think I will install some box Jades or Whites!
Update: Received mine finally today. I am also missing one stab which is disappointing, but everything else seems to be in good shape
going for the click
@@MKR3238 I'm a clickman
even we have quarantine you upload vids!!!
i was literally looking for this today, thank you
That is cool layout, why aren't they making more like this...?
Wendy X John Legend FTW!
Really looking forward for the drop of this mech, I've been looking out for a 75 in a while, thanx for the review, Tae
That's the Wheatfield PCB made by the same company that makes the Fake Canoe. It's in their 75% (which is a lot better built than this board) , which is why this it doesn't quite fit into this.
That also why it has the the RGB LEDs .
Loving the strokes album in the back at 7:47 lmao
with some updates this board will be good. love the layout!
I put in my order on Drop yesterday (before your video posted. Looking forward to it shipping (May 202)
wish I had caught this video while it was still for sale I'm really digging this layout.
Get it on their website
Great review. I really didn't need another keyboard, but this was hard to pass up considering it's the first hot swap 75% with QMK I've seen. Plus different color options! How could I say no?!
I wish the right side block had 3 button instead of two, that there were 3 1u buttons right of the space, and that there was a caps lock light somewhere.
Forgot how damn good gateron ink blacks sounded
I definitely want this keyboard now, I’ve been looking for something exactly like this for a while. Just gotta get some money now, corona took my job away
RIP job... sad to hear that. This pandemic is really taking its toll in many ways.
Kind Old Raven yeah, and I’m in the US which passed their 2 trillion dollar help package, but as a college student who gets help from my parents, they count me as a dependent on their taxes, so I don’t even get a check to help with the fact that I’m trying to live on my own. And my landlord isn’t cutting any costs or anything so I still have to pay rent somehow
You should cover the V2 of this board! I have some black inks in it and it's a good typing experience!
THIS NEEDS TO BE MY KEYBOARD
2:52 Idobao now offers a frosted bottom diffuser to take advantage of the underglow LEDs.
When I build this thing (I got a later batch that works with screw in stabs) I find that the sockets are very loose (unleaded solder) and will pop off clean from the PCB. I had to resolder all of them with leaded solder.
i really like this layout.
For those looking for the "5 pin" switches they are typically called "PCB mount switches", the switches without the stubs are are called "plate mount switches". I hope this helps for new folks getting into the hobby!
A more budget oriented, quiet switch, 75% board is just what I’m looking into myself. You could say it was... written in the stars, right Tae? 🙃
ayyyyyyyyyyy
This is so nice. I need this in Purple to match Laser!
I'm a new in this community and am planning to buy this but I am afraid of the spacebar situation you had.
I also had that problem with the case not fully closing
I prefer it with the arrow key cimpact but damn I do love that alu case's thinness compared to the standard cases which are thicker and taller.
Th under glow is for the optional acrylic bottom housing
I relly like youre vids. I whant to build my own keyboard when the PCB is out of stuck and Hope my first ever keyboard is a good one. Nice vid and thanks you 4 the tutorials😀
Looks amazing, oh my goodness :)
I noticed that the backplate is thin on one side. Maybe you put the thin side the wrong way which is why you had problems with the space bar?
Yoo that's my dream layout too...
edit: the keyboard costs more now? around $160 the time im checking atm... disappointed.
I've seen other vendors do this before on Aliexpress when a TH-camr reviews and links their product they jack up the price. It's really shitty. I got lucky to get one on Drop yesterday but on the down side it does not ship until May 18th. Give it a few weeks and re-check the price on Aliexpress.
160 usd is too expensive now. In my case i would also have to pay 22% tax...
Heard about the Polaris75 in taoboa which supposedly have the same pcb but different "more quality" case i forgot how much it cost though...
Why disappointed? Prices fluctuate with increased demand.
You can get it on their site for 135 rn
sorry, will be going for GMMK pro. I missed out because of you...
Congrats with 100k!
interesting pcb. vestigial LED pads and pcb fab ID# indicate that very little care was put in, but it is black solder mask with hatched ground plane. weird.
Wow, it actually does sound great😊
This honestly looks like my ideal keyboard (aside from RGB, which would be nice, but not essential). But I still can't justify dropping $200 on a keyboard (it's $160 on Aliexpress at the moment), and my Anne Pro 2 (got for $60) is holding me over for now (though I really miss my dedicated arrows and F row).
The board sounds pretty good for the price.
AHHHHH IVE FINALLY FOUND THE KEYBOARD IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR BUT ITS OUT OF STOCK
Check their website, it's in stock
that boiling water typing sound is weirdly satisfactory.
That keyboard sound is lit! 💥👌
