I have a Forbidden Motorsport short throw shifter from a 4th gen Honda Prelude installed in my H22a swapped 3rd gen Honda Prelude… has 3 settings for length of throw, love the way it feels!
You could use a 90-93 accord shifter instead, and it has a sheetmetal pocket already, BUT... I absolutely love the way that mounting plate turned out. That thing is an art piece! Keep up the good work. It's awesome to have someone making parts for the BA chassis (even if this one isn't for sale).
Great work. Looks awesome. The cables on a factory manual drive 3rd gen prelude dont go through the floor of the car they go straight through the firewall with a rubber and a metal plate. If you look right in front ot the firewall it should be 2 finger on top of the crossmember. If you can fabricate a billet plate for aftermarket cables just like the k tuned one but fitting our prelude would be great.
The reason 3rd gen shifter cables run through the firewall is due to the 4WS system. Your adapter plate idea is great, but only for 2WS models. All 4WS models will have to run the shifter all the way it has been done for 25 years. I recommend you redo that plate for both 2WS/4WS models so it'd universal for all 3rd gens. Or else you will have to make 2 separate types of plates to run the shifter cables.
Luckily this is not a product I’m selling, just for my personal car. It totally solved the issues I was having so it’s a win for me. Just about every part on this car I’m making regarding the h22 swap is one off. I have no plans on offering any conversion parts for this swap.
For auto to manual swaps, you run the cables through the hole from the factory. You don't need to cut so much. You are applying Civic/integra mindset here. The 3rd gens don't run that way. The shifter cables run behind the radio and there is a 2 10mm bolt cover that you remove to run the cables. On top of that the 4WS models will have issues with your adapter plate due to the 4WS shift will hit that adapter plate.

Nice! I was thinking about something like that, but the throw isn’t terrible right now. I’ll probably wait until after I get it running.

That’s interesting, so does the auto cable also go through that hole? And if so, what goes through the hole where I passed the cables through?
manual cables go through the firewall like he described but the auto is different it goes through the hole you fed the manual cables through.
