31yo, i've lost both my parents and i didn't realize how hard the music would hit me @ 1:22. just a sudden rush of sensory memories -- the sticky heat, the pinkish pavement under my sneakers, the chocolate sauce from dessert at les chefs de france, the crinkling of the waxy plastic wdw bags, the smell of caramel in germany... mom and dad, backlit by the fireworks. 😢 i wish i could have one more family vacation.
My kids looking at me so weird like “why is mom crying watching fireworks?!” So many feels. Take me back to my CP when I got to watch and hear this every night from right where Craig shot it at my food cart :’(
at 17:40 right as the globe disappeared into the night for the final time, that was when i let all the tears out. i was standing in the same area where this was filmed!
I was there that night with my mom. We specifically went to EPCOT to enjoy this show one final time. I first saw Illuminations back in 2003 and it holds so many memories for me. Being in a crowd of people who love this show as much as I do was, for lack of a better word, magical.
This nighttime show was just like Wishes. All it needed was amazing music and the heart. They didn't need to go over the top. That is what Disney is all about. Projections and other enhancements are fine but the timing and music are what make an amazing firework show.
Not Gonna lie, I was there. After the show, me and my friends went to the fence and leaned forward on It looking at the Lights and the Globe. I tried to not get worked up about this moment with my friends. It was similar to the Claire de Lune scene from Oceans 13. During promise at the end. My eyes were watering. One of my friends noticed and asked me why I was crying. I said “I felt though as-if I’m not there for you when you get achievements. So I want to be there if you guys get your ups and Downs.” And hearing those kind words, all of us did a Group hug. Never forgot it ever since that day.
This fireworks show is my childhood. I think back to this show and i always remember happy times. Even on the hardest days seeing this show always made me happy. the emotions this brings everytime i see it shows how great disney is at crafting emotion. I will miss seeing this show live but ill always have video and the memories

i see people talking ab their experience so im gonna do it too. i was here for this. my mom was a cast member for the park for a decade (bus fleet). illuminations was a big part of my experience OF disney. me and my mom used to get in for free at the eeenndd of the day, and catch this show while eating a shared snack over at france. wait for people to leave, then head out after the crowd died down. i took my best friend to see this. she had hardly ever gotten to go to any themeparks let alone disney. she had never seen illuminations either, and, it was the last night. she held me at the end and cried, it was so overly emotional for the both of us because it was like my goodbye. i was moving from the state. she told me she didn’t know what she was going to do without me, and sadly ended up passing last year and… i’m not sure how. i listened to this for the first time since i was there, at this park, chilling near france, with her. crying and overly emotional over this show, always and forever. i miss you rose. ❤️

(We were supposed to go back in November 2020 but the virus hit so that didn't happen)
And yet to this day there is to be a show as grand, epic and regal as Illuminations: 2000: Reflections of Earth. Epcot forever was a failed tragedy so much they could do with it(didn’t even bother to use the audio from living sea preshow) etc. Harmonious? Well high hopes but failed epically. Will we ever get another show like this? Can we get Eisner back? Might be the only option at this point.
Thank you again for your wonderful videos. I was there the last night and it was sad to see such an amazing show close. The show will play on in our mind and hearts and thanks to videos like this we can again view it when ever we want.
I think HarmonioUS will grow on me the more I see it (saw it for the first time on Thursday before the official debut, very pretty show, but not the biggest fan of the soundtrack) but nothing gives me the “feels” like IllumiNations. I miss it even 2 years later. I had to fly to Philly for a job interview so I couldn’t go the last night for IllumiNations, but I was there for 5 out of 7 of the final shows (not to mention all of the shows I saw in the months and years leading up to the final show). 😭
It's been one year since it's been gone. The magic of Epcot is lost at the moment. Are used to start up my day in future world hitting all the rides and then I finish the day walking around World showcase. Now I do the opposite with no fireworks. Also all the good restaurants are closed so I'm just eating out of the food and wine booths for all my meals. They should bring the show back for special occasions it would really draw people I think.

I visited WDW for the first time in January 2019 and saw this show (having never seen it before). When the narrator blows out the flames at the very beginning, I remember getting chills being there. This whole show had me in its hold from that point on. Watching this video, I know it's not the same, but even just hearing the narrator blow out the flames, I got chills again. Just shows the power of the Arts and how a simple noise can take you back. Can't wait to see things like this again (and hope to see you fans alongside me standing around the lagoon)!

I like the video because it showcases the fireworks. But for a solid chunk of the video, you don't see what is going on. The globe in the center was supposed to be showing videos, and the world showcase buildings progressively lit up.
Getting rid of Illuminations was one of the dumbest decisions made in a Disney Park. This show was unbelievable. The replacements haven't even come close.
Maybe what I will say will be based but, I couldn’t see this show while it was still presenting but could see Harmonious… and this one feels overrated. I heard so much good things about this one that I had some expectations that were not achieved. I just feel like Harmonious keeps you awake all the time, the visuals were incredible and you literally have fireworks for 15+ minutes and this one has them in like 5-8 minutes during the whole show.
This is a boring show... Glad its gone...I don't have nostalgia for the show and that's the only reason I can think of for why people love this show so much.

After seeing Harmonious last night, I miss Illuminations even more....
This fireworks show is my childhood. I think back to this show and i always remember happy times. This show makes me SO emotional! It just reminds me of the multiple WDW trips I’ve taken with family and friends growing up. The nostalgia is real!

I want to Disney world before it close this year and was so confused as to why there wasn’t a globe in the center of the lake 😂
