    Tbh for a nerd like me Palmers analysis is absolute gold. Shame some of it is behind a paywall but at least the important stuff is free every race to watch.

    Alonso said after the race he was saving around half second per lap during long time of the race. Engineer didn't stop saying avoid high speed curves since almost begining of the race. Nice drive by Alonso

    Alonso showed true racecraft and Mechanical sympathy for his tyres yes the VSC did help but that's how it played out If Alpine have the car right next year he'll be on the Podium much more

    l wasn't an Alonso fan when he was at the top but became one as of late like Vettel. l hope these two will be more in the showing every week and on the podium more often in the future. Congrats Alonso and come on Vettel.

    The starting medium runners should have pitted on lap 27 for hards and go to the end, Alonso and Norris in starting softs from Q2 stretched the first stint till laps 23 and 25. Didn’t understood the guys on meds pitting so early.

      I think it’s because they expected tyres to fade faster. Data said so, they went for it as last time they didn’t listen, Baku happened

    More crossover tracks would mean better tyre load distribution with even left and right corners. Of course Pirrelli could make better tyres, but we've been waiting years for that.

    imo RB gave Alonso third when they put Perez on a two stop. If his first stint would have been extended to lap 27 or thereabouts, which would have been within the limit Pirelli advised, he would have been third. Another interesting 'what if' would be the scenario where Max stayed out as long as he dared instead of trying to undercut. That would likely force Lewis to stay out as well as their plan apparently was to match the RB strategy. With some luck, Lewis might have gotten a puncture before Max did.

    Also what I observed is Perez took one lap extra in overtaking one of the Ferrari. That's make a difference in end too apart from Virtual safety car which is a no brainer.

    I firmly believe that Perez could have make it work without the 2nd box. In the end, he was racing an Alpine, he didn't even need to push too hard to stay ahead. Would love to see the data, probably RB saw something alarming on the tyres. In any case, Alonso did an amazing job the whole race. Props to him.

      Maybe it could have worked with the VSC but RB didn’t expect the VSC so it made more sense for them to put mediums on Perez car instead. Anyways even on softs I still doubt Perez would have gotten past since the pace of the softs wouldn’t be as strong as the mediums at the closing stages of the race.

    He made the podium by having Perez qualify outside the top 10, Bottas DNF and driving well.

    I'm surprised they didn't keep Bottas running and pit him to steal the fastest lap from Max.

      I think he had too much damage to be able to set the fastest lap.
