They're active again now, they have moving posters uploaded for their upcoming single this month
I would probably say Mister is their most well known song!
Please revisit these girls later - a lot of Kara's best songs came out after 2010, with various sounds/vibes, like Step (heavy disco), Pandora (anime), Damaged Lady (rock/emo), and Cupid (modern-day kpop sounds). You can also see the literal "step up" in their vocal production and videography.
Break it is pretty well known now though, being covered on a survival show. They have many more great songs, can't wait for you to hear those as well.
Back then Kara was indeed very big in Japan
About the different formations one of them left due to parental pressure (I think she failed her college exams) and retired from the entertainment industry, some left when their contract was over to try different things and the ones added, I guess the company decided they needed a certain number of members so everytime someone left they put more people to replace them
They had officially disbanded and one member has unfortunately passed away, but they'll have a reunion this year to celebrate their 15th anniversary
I've gathered quite quickly that the industry is super hard to not only break into, but to maintain -- even after they have left. So much pressure and scrutiny!!
Always good to hear a group is/was able to have a reunion, and I'm sure this one is super emotional.
I was listening to kpop when wonder girls, kara and girls generation debuted. kara and wonder girls had my favorite debuts at the time because i loved the more tough girl attitude they debuted with. Kara also has another song called Secret World when they had their original 4 member line up and i still listen to it sometimes cause the vocals are so good
Now Break it is pretty well known I'd say. From those 3 Honey is probably the least known one, but the chorus is still easily recognizable. Mister is their most popular song, if not that then maybe Step? But Mister is iconic and a lot of ggs have covered it in their earlier years.
Honey was their first win in music program back then
STEP & PANDORA pleaseee
Watching Break It and Honey I was thinking "this isn't the Kara I'm familiar with" then you got to Mister and it was "ah, there they are" lol
They were teenagers and young adults, I still wonder why some sexualise them, they're not all full adults... But it's kpop, so it's natural that some 20-40+ men will see them as such with this choreography
Waiting for you to get to TVXQ and Shinee!
Why now? Kara has already disbanded some doesn't even remember them. One 2 member committed suicide. Dark side of K-pop
They didn't disband officially, they're coming back this year on November
Hi Melisa, I'm listening to a lot of older K-Pop music on my channel so even though a lot of groups have disbanded or have not recently released songs, I'm still interested in the musical history.
Yes I read about that after listening to the music. :(
They’re literally coming back this month Melisa
No melisa, check their channel rn
