    Songs back then were definitely more dancy and upbeat, it was that era for music, they also focused more on the artists performance and faces, the backgrounds are less busy, but they have this stage like feel with the filming in big empty spaces decorated up with some props.

    Step is literally such an iconic song in every way possible such a jam

    No, you were right, “lupine” means having characteristics of a wolf, but the spirit of the song is likely more associated with gentleman thieves Arsene Lupin or Lupin the 3rd.

    Yaaaaaay!!! More KARA!!! Coincidentally it's Hara's birthday (well on the 3rd, which it is in Korea already) so this is a nice surprise to see, we miss her dearly 💝
    Lupin is like my favorite ever, it's classic kpop, also that dance move from Lupin is called Running Down the Fire Escape or Running to the emergency exit down the stairs 🤣 I forget the exact wording but yeah a good name for it I guess, netizens have a great imagination back in 2010. KARA were the queens of hip dances too!! Thanks for reacting to more of them! These songs were everything to me back in highschool 😭💓

      They are a lot of fun, and since we rearranged how we do videos we should be able to do more deep dives on groups

    As a long-time KARA fan, really enjoyed your reaction. I enjoy when chill metalheads like you guys react to Kpop. I'm not an expert on metal or anything, but your perspective is cool to hear. I feel metal is like "what if we took rock, but didn't hold *ANYTHING* back, wouldn't that be awesome?" and Kpop is like "what if we took Western pop, but didn't hold *ANYTHING* back, wouldn't that be awesome?" And KARA is one of the best examples of this, especially with Mr. / STEP / Lupin. Those songs don't hold anything back.
    So yeah, cool reaction, KARA forever.

    Hi! They also released an acoustic song as one of their singles, called Runaway! If you can check it out too :))
    They had a one-off drama in 2013 called Secret Love, where each member had 2 episodes each (Runaway is included in their OST). They're pretty good actresses too!

    If I can recommend, I would say you should listen to "Break It" and then "Rock U" to see how much they changed their sound from debut, because they never looked back and continued the later sound and evolved from that rework.

    haha beguiled by seungyeon's cute dimple smile lol. she's hilarious in variety stuff too because mcs love to make fun of her but she takes it like a champ. gen2 is awesome, the last gen of kpop I listened to excluding dreamcatcher. there's so little musicality left in most popular kpop nowadays because it's reached the big leagues and corporations are focusing on selling a product more than the music itself. you have to remember before gangnam style, kpop wasn't that popular outside a few countries in asia so the budget for mv production was a lot less. most mvs were filmed in the infamous 'box' sets.
    you should continue to check out gen2 groups, maybe make it a series you do every week or two. I already mentioned aoa in a previous comment but another group worth checking out is 9muses.

    • @BestFriendsReact
      @BestFriendsReact  ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand preferring older generations, but I think new kpop is a lot better in a lot of ways, but that's also because I have no attachment to older gens. I know a handful of AoA songs because of Queendom and Mamamoo covers lol.
      I think I've heard of 9muses because if I remember correctly, one of the members Sera Ryu does reaction videos too

      @@BestFriendsReact all depends on one's tastes as usual, but what I meant is starting around 2016+, kpop went down the noise music route. if you like trap edm with a lot of synths, then a lot of popular kpop nowadays is right down your alley. music is all subjective so I'm not criticizing anyone's preference. I meant to say that objectively you can make a point there's much less musicality in kpop nowadays than before. a lot of songs sound like a teenager with a computer could have put it together, and indeed some kpop songs are. of course there are exceptions but I'm just generalizing off title tracks from popular groups. I guess I'm just old school and prefer a traditionally composed track with real instruments as the core of a song.

    • @BestFriendsReact
      @BestFriendsReact  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get it, and I agree that the good thing about music, everyone can have their own preference, and no one has to be wrong lol

      @@BestFriendsReact Seconding the 9Muses recommendation. They also had Sweetune as producers, like KARA, for a time.

      I could be wrong but there seems to be a. significant overlap between 9Muses fans and Dreamcatcher fans, hehe.
