This is one of the most surprising songs you’ve reacted to. Bo Burnham is an amazing artist, but this is like one his least known songs compared to his other works (and extremely underrated)

A simple rule of thumb for Bo's content - the newer the art the less it is focused on being witty and the more introspective and self-aware it gets. His older works are more about him utilizing his wit and passion for literature and lyrics to create comedic songs about random topics. If you want to check out some of that type of content go for "New Math", "Im bo yo", "oh bo", "ironic", "words words words" (best example). Then you have his slightly less old, more focused stuff where he takes on more serious topics, and drops some of the wittiness to let us into his mind and thoughts a lot more. Great examples of those are "rant", "art is dead" (which is a fucking masterpiece) and basically all of the skits from his special "what.". Finally you can see his more mature, self aware stuff, where he talks about how he is personally affected by this whole comedy thing - "cant handle this" and "are you happy" are kinda the beggining of that, and they are both wonderful. Also his latest special "Inside" which he created alone from his room, where he kinda records his descent into madness and depression during qurantine.
Obviously you should also watch his specials in their entirety, both for context and to understand how well it all meshes in together. His shows are filled with little gems during transitions from one skit to another. Because, as he very often says, "Segueys are weird". That would be great content for your patreon, just saying!

The "Can't Handle This Kanye Rant" is definitely something to watch. It's deep. Chock full of metaphors and was the end before he went on hiatus due to his panic attacks.
One of Bo's best classic songs with crazy wordplay is definitely 'Catholic Rant'. His style varies so wildly over the progression of his career and its all awesome, but I think Catholic Rant specifically is one you'd really enjoy listening to.

His whole netflix specials are amazing. Its a huge mix of stand up and every type of music you can imagine. "What" is the first one you should watch.

Edit: Just got to the part of the vid asking for more to listen to from him. I'd recommend "words, words, words" next. I think it'll scratch that itch of more lyrical genius at work. I would also advise listening/watching the main videos from his channel/specials if possible and not some generic upload someone did that doesn't have the visuals to go with it since some of his stuff is so much better when you watch the video alongside it, rather than only listening to the lyrics.
every reactor finds bo then goes down the rabbit hole. hes a comedian first musician second. and its crazy to watch how good his musicianship improves from special to special. he has more than a dozen reactable songs.
What really gets me is that Bo Burnham’s song “Repeat Stuff” comes to mind. It’s pretty much an evisceration of the rote nature of certain types of music.
Like everyone else said, this is what Bo does. His word play is amazing. And quite unique. Another song with this kind of word play is “Rant”.
His stuff from “inside” is a bit heavier, but amazing. His earliest stuff leans heavier into shock factor, then the later you go in his career the more social commentary there is.
He is a musical comedian, and he just released the most impactful special on Netflix.

Bo is the absolute king of musical comedy and with that being said his self awareness and commentary on real world issues are so clever. Don't go into his songs expecting it to be just a comedy song, expect to get occasionally emotional and introspective as well.

Great reaction, as for others, listen to all you can of Bo from 14-15 years ago to today, it's a rather large body of work, but Bo is an amazing artist/creator, humor, serious, comedy, educator, poet. over all a great entertainer. probably one of my favorite entertainers of all time and most importantly, one that did not sell his soul in order to become as big as he is, at least online. a Brilliant mind who I regard as a Genius and I do not say this lightly.

If you can, watch the INSIDE special in order recording the reactions. Then edit those reactions into single videos as people ask for them. The special is SO MUCH more impactful in order and with visuals monologues and everything else .... The dude wrote, directed, filmed and everything in the special by himself in a single year. One of the best pieces of media I have watched in forever.
Yes, this. So much context is missed by reactors picking random songs out of order from inside and they're doing themselves a disservice. Early shit, fine go nuts, there's a goldmine but make happy and inside should actually be watched. And it's just as possible to record a reaction to those and break it down into separate videos
He has a lot of great stuff to check out, and he doesn't really fit into a single genre of music neatly. He does everything from musical theater to folk to rap to even a one off country song. Eff is another song of his that was studio only that has some pretty great wordplay.
Bo's been one of my favorite comedians an entertainers for years. Even though he stepped out of the limelight for a while (he stopped doing live performances due to anxiety/panic attacks and moved towards directing), I keep coming back to his works. I'd point you towards Bo fo' Sho'; I'm Bo Yo; My Whole Family; Rehab For Fictional Characters; and Words, Words, Words. You might find stage performances or you might find his little home setup, no complaints for either.

Very much enjoyed your reaction, this particular song is a lesser known piece of his and I find it very interesting to see someone relatively unfamiliar with Bo react to it. Really hope to see much more of your reactions and commentary of his stuff if you're interested. I personally recommend Eff, Words words words, Rant (both the Catholic one and the Kanye one, the second is a Bo staple) from his older work and Welcome to Internet and This funny feeling from his last special, but you literally can't go wrong with Bo imo. Wow, I was just thinking the other day why you haven't done Bo Burnham songs. Words Words Words is one of his best wordplay songs, but most of his songs are comical, but always have some type of real world serious message in them. HIs Netflix special INSIDE was nominated for 6 Emmys and won 3 THIS YEAR (2021). If you react to those songs, I suggest watching the whole special with the videos while reacting. Then go back through and edit them individually pulling the songs out that you want to upload. Watching that series out of order or as single songs AND lyrics only defeats the purpose of the entire special and impacts the type of feelings you get while watching it. As you listen to Bo, you'll realize he talks about things that hints to him dealing with his own internal struggles and his opinions on things that just aren't right.

Yeah dude Bo burnham is actually legendary. Like his level of talent is indescribable. This is in fact one of his lesser known songs and as you can see it's *still* phenomenal. He started on youtube back in ancient times when it still had the under title (You gotta be old enough to remember right?). Seriously give his whole discog the reaction you won't be disappointed. The genius of Bo in his special isn't only about his writing, but it's the visuals too .... His special is him writing a special within a year inside his own room by himself .... All the visuals, lyrics and creativity is from him. Plus he has monologues and things that connect into songs that make them more impactful.

Subscribed, Love people reacting to Bo is the best when they break down what they are listening to. I say start with the main classic videos. "Words, Words, Words", "Oh Bo" and "Repeat Stuff". Then it is down the rabbit hole from there. He has a ton of great song/skits to react to.
I know I keep making comments, but Bo also wrote and directed a movie called Eighth Grade that scored really high on Rotten Tomatoes and was really good 99% out of 318 critics and 82% of audience enjoyed it. Its about the life of the girl in 8th grade and what it's like to be an 8th grader.
Not only that, Bo was in charge of writing and creating the music that will be in the 2022 Sesame Street movie that will be releasing Jan 14th 2022. :) Dude is talented beyond belief man.

Let's gooo, more Bo. He normally does more comedic songs rather than rap songs, but he has quite a lot of introspective catalog of content. But I would recommend reading up just a biton him and his past, even if it's just from the comments. If you ask people to explain it, I'm sure they'll be more than glad to outline the most important things to understand some of his songs better and more easily.

He's a bit all over the place, and he quit performing for a while, but recently came out with a netflix special, check out All Eyes on Me to see a slightly comedic explanation of why he quit coupled with a nice melancholic song on top of it.

You're about to go down a delightful rabbit hole with Bo Burnham, I think. He has a way of using comedy to make a serious point, and his songs tend to take a turn when you're most engaged and then you just feel Some Type of Way.
You're going to find the true genius in his later works like "Welcome to the Internet." Although, he has always been excellent at wordplay, he becomes masterful at songwriting (and filmmaking) as he grows as an artist. His most recent Netflix special, "Inside", was written, directed, and edited by himself in a single room of his house during 2020.

yes, more music please. Bo is my favorite artist. Of any art. The two songs you've done are just the tip of the iceberg. For some insight, he wrote Bo Yo when he was like 14. So he's always been a witty performer, but maaaan he has gotten deep. Tackles the evils of social media, internet control over our lives, anxiety and depression, etc. And a good mix of some silly stuff too.
