I came here because I just got one and they didnt even have a starter relay on it so came to find out what the thing looked like as I couldn't find much info online and what I did find, you cant even be too sure it's the exact same model you have and without one to compare, I was lost and about to just rig it up like you have here lol
TheRobbe88 I had my bike going from watching your videos but my starter says lt80 on it so I’m guessing it’s original and I had a bunch of fried wires after replacing starter like video my atv turns over than the kill switch goes off and the starter red white wire is very hot
Can you make a video or send me link to you fully taking apart bike and each bolt if so that video will help a lot of others I knows standard stuff but you are expert
I appreciate all the time you took to help us all! I didn't take as much apart as you did but I got the starter in anyways. Here's my new problem (the previous owner) tried wiring in a new relay and when I hook up the battery the starter just keeps running. Any suggestions on testing the starter button? It's funny seeing all the saws! 4 in a row! All of us ATV Lovers have at least 4 saws!
Hi buddy could you send me a list of what has been done to this quad I also have a lt80 that is standard but youres seems so keen to set off and very responsive on the throttle just wondered if anything has been changed Thanks
Also for anyone who wants to do this but doesn't have a new relay to use, a decent toggle switch will do the trick also but s relay is preferred to not mess anything up over time
Hey man i have some problem With my starter lt80 can I send you a video of it ? If you have any clues what might be the problem. The starter is brand new and it still doesn’t turns around :/
You can take that plastic cover off the motor in the frame. That's how I rebuild them with the motor in the frame and you can take the carb and reeds out in the frame. You are doing all this the hard way
Hey how are you I know you posted this a year ago and more I just purchased a little LT80 I'm not sure of the year yet can't find any year on the sticker that's on it so I was thinking maybe I could find it through the VIN number somehow, But anyway I apologize ahead of time for this being a long post / question, did not come with a key and obviously that's the only way to start it before I start buying parts I need to know what's wrong with it and go from there, I seen the way that you jump the starter relay that totally eliminates having to do anything with the key right? Also what is the safety sequence for starting these, usually you hold front brake or back brake I just want to make sure I'm not wasting time and forgetting something the battery is fully charged I actually climbed under the quad and from my truck battery I was able to tap the starter with my positive and finally got it to start cranking but that's all it was doing didn't sound like it was getting any Spark but also I won't get spark if I'm not doing the whole setup right withholding the brakes whatever else I don't know if there is anything else I literally just got it tonight so I'm thinking that might be stepping in my way. And I also did not see an air filter anyway obviously I know it's going to come from the carburetor somewhere I'm assuming it's that big circle bubble looking thing above the carburetor but I haven't gotten that far with it yet nor have I pulled a spark plug I pulled off the truck and played with her for about 5 minutes and then ran out of daylight trying to get this going for my son, SO any and all help would be greatly appreciated.....* what are the few major things I should keep an eye on that tend to go frequently on these? * "few parts I need" if you or anybody has a front and rear set of plastics that are in Decent shape Nicer the Better they don't have to be perfect but not all cracked and beat up,??? Rear grab bar,??? Working ignition with key,??? And some cleated foot pegs ' seems like someone removed them theres just the round tube now I'm sure it would work fine I just rather my son have more grip on his feet especially if it gets muddy,??? have Cash in hand,.... this is all the stuff off the top of my head but I think it needs as of right now there may be more to come as I dig into it but that's my parts list I have to come up with for now... again I'm sorry for such a long post I just figured to get it all done in one shot if anybody at all is able to chime in and either give "Positive Advice" or if you have something I can buy from you fro my list.... I appreciate it very much thank you all in advance!
Hello! -Jumping the relay eliminantes evry thing YES. -safety the brake level by the fot has to be ON ( parkingbreak ) - to check if its a spark problem o fuel give it some starter spray if it runs its fuel problem if not running spark problem . - Sorry have no extra parts =(
Afro Ninja . 1 check battery that its not dead. 2 remove the relay and connect the two big red cables whit a wire: if it starts you have a bad relay . if it sparks the wire and wount turn over your starter is bad.
I had the same problem. I have fixed it by: Cleaning out the carburetor, replacing a starter motor, and buying a relay. When I first had it running, it was really smokey and took a while to start but when I changed the oil to pre-mix injector oil, all of my problems were fixed!
Hey Robbe my four wheeler is just like your and mine starts up and runs for about 5-10 min until I start giving it gas than it dies like a dead battery but the battery is not bad do know what it could be ?
I know the Cdi could be it but just how it acts like the battery is dead then I let it cool for a few mins and it starts up but than dies half way around the house
@@CNC_SCOTTIE Hello ! it seems to me like your atv is running out off fuel ? do you have a fuel filter on it ?? next time it dies try giving it some starter spray or brake cleaner in the air filter . if the atv gives any sign of starting you have fuel problem if not its ignition problem .
Thnx! Your video became very handy, I did the same trick with te relay and it works! Great, big thanks from Holland!

Sounds like they hooked it up wrong or the relay is bad. I'd just try what he did over and make sure your wires are hooked up the same as he did here

Where did you get that relay ?
the relay is just a simple 12v standard relay from car parts shop .
