I had this game back in the day (well, a copy of it), and remember it fondly. I always thought it was a neat concept and remember the Spider being incredibly well animated. Good stuff.
This time was special. Games and movies. They all had such a special feel. Either they were totally bloomy optimistic. Or just gritty dirty dark niche stuff like this for special kinds of people. And the way the graphics look and sounddesign is just all so 1995-2005
This game was one of my earlier is not my earliest memory of renting a game from the video store. It was one of the very first games I played, if not the first, on my Playstation. Nostalgic
Great review and room setup! I remember renting this game when I was like 12 from my local grocery store and loving it even though I never got past the 2nd boss. Keep up the great work on your channel
One of my first playstation games.vwas worried when I looked it up that no one would remember it. I had it when I was just 6. Could never get past the second boss.
I just played spider for the first time last night. It's fun but very hard. I spent about 4 hours playing and didn't make it very far. You must be a very good gamer to have completed this game. Congratulations Thanks for the video
What unique game at that time... Such a shame this game didn't have a sequel, and didn't become a franchise....Oh and the music, i remember it so dearly, love it....
I had a 20 years older than me friend that worked on a videogamestore. We changed games, right from the start I noticed on my home, that this game was too hard for me. Before I return his copy, that friend died from a heart attack.... I miss my friend Freco(his nickname)
I played through this as a teen and liked it, but it was quite hard. I remember reading an article about the game that he publishers wanted a mascot like character, and the designer deliberately drew a terrible design for a goofy anthropomorphic spider just to get the publishers to allow them to make something with the realistic looking spider, which was their vision.
Yeah, it's really difficult, I'm not sure I would have had the patience for it back then. Interesting tidbit that I didn't know on it's origins! The realistic spider on the cover is what sold me on the game, would not be the same with some goofy looking mascot like spider.
I found a copy that is available to buy, so i have been contemplating wheatear to get it. Your review has helped me in making that decision, i am going to play it. it looks fun.
I remember this being one of those cut rate discount games that wasn't locked in a glass case. Which would lead one to believe this game sucks but it's actually a decent game. It's also aged better than many PS1 games. Because, let's face it,a lot of PS1 games have aged badly
I looked up The Unholy War. I actually played that game back in the day. All I remember is that its mediocre tactics game. I much preferred Brigandine.

I had the game also but the original it turn out to be not bad
I remember borrowing this from time to time back in the 90s from my friend. I liked this, at least back in the day.
I swear Jak and Daxter straight up stole that sound when you pick up precursor orbs in precursor legacy. 😂

Thank you! I remember the magazine ad but never played it back in the day.
I appreciate you giving these PS One games some love!!
I love the PS1 era, it was the best.

Except that had been the case for many years, it's just different now.
This one was one of the first PS1 games I ever owned. I always thought the intro cutscene was cool.
Yeah, it's a pretty cool cutscene for it's time.
@@flizzzipperI agree the cutscenes are brilliant

It definitely takes some patience and memorization. You're not going to go into a new level and breeze through it. Thanks for watching!
I find this game at the flea market for 13 $
Good for you also Happy early Birthday
Whoever has not played this game right now you guys need to check it out cause you are missing out
Great review! I dig the infusion of EGM
Loved this game as a kid was pretty hard. I wanna go back to play it again
What unique game at that time... Such a shame this game didn't have a sequel, and didn't become a franchise....Oh and the music, i remember it so dearly, love it....
I played the game in 1998, it was one of my first psx games and it was cool!
This game looks cool, I never heard of it before.

Great games, really hoping there's a remake or sequel.

Great job broski! You have a great way of explaining and speaking.
I love your channel and your style. keep it up man! Soon the subscribers of this channel will reach thousands.
Thank you! Hopeful that I can finish reviews a little faster in the future.
Woahhhhhh the only memory i have of this game is from what must've been a demo disc. God damn i miss demo discs.
I forgot this gameplay existed
Me too
@@rickmartinez3268 still haven't played the whole game yet
But you beat it now@@jaygooese4242
Trippy, I had this when I was like 9
easy sub for the first reviewer to cover this game, cant wait to see what else your channel has to offer
I used to rent this as a kid. Classic

Love the work you put in your videos! Keep it up!❤️
Thank you!
Looked this video up once i saw the cover, i thought the same you did, along with over the top self aware violence.
Like. Good review. Not play in this game, but how I see game is perfect.
This is a great game. super hard but fun

The decisions to stick to 2.5d, while maybe not hip and modern at the time, helped it for sure. Because the core gameplay and challenge is fun.
collecting everything there's extended cutscene
You mean collecting every microchip and all the broken cd icons? I'm pretty sure I did everything but now I'm wondering if I missed an ending!
@@flizzzipper
normal ending dude picks up spider
extended spider roams developer's office
I always wanted this game. Don’t think I ever saw it for sale or rent anywhere. I remember seeing ads for it in EGM.
One of my favorite games growing up. Do a review on The Unholy War next.
I'm actually unfamiliar with the Unholy War, I'll have to check it out.

mines good for final boss
Is it just me or does those things at the 1:02 mark look similar to Playstation 2s? Lol.
love your videos

The USA doesn't care about someone getting shot with blood splatter...only nudity, lol.
@@flizzzipper I guess that's why nobody cared when Kirby's dreamland 3 had that bloodbath involving Zero's eye socket.

and that's why all console 3d games are so bad with absolutely insufferable camera and conrtols
