    Awesome video. Just stumbled upon it. I wonder how he is doing with the variable closing fee. It seems that penny books (or anything under $4) wouldn’t make any money anymore. Would be interesting to see if he has changed his business structure.

    I would buy a lot of books from that warehouse, but unfortunately I reside in Hungary, and shipping costs are far too high. Actually shipping is so expensive that it makes buying cheap books from abroad senseless.

    • @Raikenprofit

    How do you avoid selling books with a page missing or writing in the book, etc., when the operation is this big? Surely you cannot look through every book to check it's condition. Do you simply take the risk and then offer a refund if there's a problem?

    5000 scans a day is intense if that is per person (for two people as a team possible). I can manage about 2850 in 8 hours but its intense work.

  • @RavinSaga

    What software are you using to scan the books?

  • @billknauss7963
    @billknauss7963 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It was a little upsetting to see how they store their merchant fulfilled books. They were leaning. You never never store books leaning because it hurts the spines, which in turn lowers the value of the books. His "book store" books were stored properly in that they were upright. He needs to change his merchant fulfilled section to imitate the book store section.

    Really impressive operation and I'm glad he showed it to us but I have to say, I was bothered by how rough they are with the books. I don't know maybe its just the perfectionist and book fanatic in me but man, I couldn't handle books like that. Just dumping them all out of a box and just randomly throwing them into boxes? I would be a lot more gentle and stack them nice a neat.

    • @vladniko75
      @vladniko75 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree. To me, quality is one of the highest priorities and you can make time through hiring more people or by improving upon your whole process.

    • @gollumgollum
      @gollumgollum 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then open your own multi million dollar book operation and teach Greg the proper way to sell books. Let me know how that works out for ya

    • @heartlandranchtv4943
      @heartlandranchtv4943 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Used books are considered a commodity, and have little to no resale value, hence why most used books end up in landfills, or are recycled into toiler paper lol. So, handling them with kid gloves, especially at this volume, would be a tremendous waste of time and money. In fact, by the time he gets them, these books have been handled/mishandled hundreds or even thousands of times. He's not running a rare, collectible book business.

    Nice video did anyone pick up the prescription med bottle at 10:13 next to the computer. Really? I take it they aren't really that professional and don't follow government regulations. I wouldn't care except the fact that he talks about how business oriented he is, you don't run an operation like that. Believe me I rent warehouse space for one of my businesses, a photography business, that's actually much nicer than that and it isn't very expensive. It wouldn't surprise me if he has illegal immigrants working for him as "independent" contractors and paying them under the table. Sorry for long post but 1 million in profit a year shouldnt look like a 50,000 dollar startup operation. I truly believe with 50 grand you could easily get that equipment and product especially used books. Also 60,000 sq. Feet? Where? it looks like a large subleted building with many businesses there a dime a dozen.

    • @JamesOrr1987
      @JamesOrr1987 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      How ignorant. Ive been to his warehouse personally on a tour, he doesn't believe in keeping things pretty and shiny, but it doesnt need to be, its books. And no, there were no 'immigrants' there. A lot of them are his family. Idiot....

    • @ConnecticutEmporium
      @ConnecticutEmporium 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He's clearly not THAT business oriented if he keeps talking about how everyone involved is his family and related to him. Based on that I don't think that he is going for perfect. I don't agree with how he does a lot of things but if he wants to sacrifice professionality for keeping the vibe of a small family owned business he has the right to do so. What I do respect is that he is the neatOscan of booksellers on youtube. He isn't amazing but he is by far the best I've seen considering the alternatives.
