    Server Buff:
    If you play on a Server with the "New" or "Prefered" status, you get an insane "Road to 70" XP buff that makes you level much faster than anything else.
    Only thing that slows you down with this buff is, you have to do the Main Storyline and your Class quests, which you will constantly outlevel.
    Hall of the Novice:
    When you hit Level 15, go the Smith in your hometown and do the Hall of the Novice. It not only explains your role and how to play your class, it also gives you a nice "30% XP below Level 30" ring.
    Jobquest:
    please do NOT FORGET to do your jobquest at 30. Nothing more facepalm than a Level 45 Conjurer in a dungeon who never did his White Mage quest.
    Sidequests:
    leave them to your second/third/fourth... job, don't do them on your first class/job, unless you are somehow under level, which should never be the case. The game is paced around the main story questline and your classquests. These will also lead you to everywhere you need to go and unlock most content.
    Second/Third/Fourth job without quests:
    Do Levequests, Huntinglog, Fates, Daily Roulett to level your second/third/fourth... job. Don't forget the juicy 30% XP ring from Hall of the Novice.
    Most important:
    do not rush! This is not WoW, all content is relevant, simply lean back, take your time and enjoy the game. The zones are packed with players in all level ranges and there is plenty to do. Simply enjoy and don't wory about "rush to endgame", there is no need for it. It is perfectly fine to try different jobs/classes in the early levels. Also try some gathering and crafting, it's the best crafting system in any MMO and it makes you lots of Gil.
    Simply enjoy the game and find some nice people to play with:
    Have fun :)

    I'll be honest. You started out great, easy to follow, structured and overall useful. Then from minute 10ish you start throwing around the name of multiple systems that make absolutely no sense to a brand new player. "Pooling xp not possible if you do 3rd trial on your capped character" - ?? It's something I, as a new player just cannot follow, so at minute 12ish you lost me.
    Please don't take this the wrong way, you putting effort into providing info for new players is awesome. However for the future, don't stray away from the mindset of a brand new player, who will not know what you're talking about if you don't keep it simple and explain.

But how's their rotation? A lot of people like the looks of summoner but don't realize how tedious the rotation can be.. that's the information I think people want... I stopped playing wow and got back into ffxiv about 3 months ago.
    Got caught up and started doing a stream of shadowbringers for my wow friends so they can see what I'm so hyped about, and I think they're closet converts. 4 of them have tried the free trial now and they are starting to get hooked.

    They have more respect for the game now that I've convinced them it's not a "weeb" game.

    Just try this game a few days ago.
    Overall i think this game is very friendly for a newbie, everything is explained in each tutorial in the game (leveling, control, quest etc)
    Compared to other mmo, this game is no hard at all. This game is more focus on having fun playing the game unlike other mmo which has a very confusing gameplay system with zero explanation that forced you to ask around other player about this and that.
    The only thing you need to get used is the "control"
    Because this game is design for Keyboard+mouse and Dualshock 4 user, it has a huge button configuration, but every button can be arranged so it's not that bad though. You can even set it so you can play using only the keyboard.
    The graphics is good, and the music is awesome (well what you can expect from Final Fantasy)
    Oh and the community is alive, that's the most important thing in MMORPG. I mean you don't want to play with ghost right? LOL
    Tbh, i prefer an online game with subscription system like this. Filtering some D*ck and 10 years old kid from the game.

    @Hambs23 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Started my Free Trial a few days ago (not even a whole week yet), and while my historic with MMO's isn't that big, I can say this the most welcoming MMO I've played, while still being fun and challenging.
    There are some things I enjoy on other games that are not present here, probably the biggest one being skill customization, however most of what the game sets to do it nails it hard. It almost feels like a Single player level of polish on a online game, which is unnatural to me, as all MMOs I've played were F2P, and even if they looked pretty (see Black Desert, Blade and Soul, Tree of Savior...), they still feel like an online game. From story, to art design both in characters and envoiroment, to music, to gameplay, it's all great.
    Also, speaking of usefullness, I love the target system. So, on classic MMO style, you need to select the target before attacking or using a skill. The tradicional way of doing this is by manually navigating the cursor over the enemy/ally and clicking them, but there's a plethora of other ways to do it: You can press Tab to lock on to targets closer to the center of your screen; enemies in combat with you or your party (not fully tested yet) have their life bars shown on a corner and you can click them to target; you can target party members by clicking on their life bars/names at the corner or by pressing F1~8 (can't confirm this, but I believe it works this way since pressin F1 locks onto yourself); you can lock on onto a target, see what they're locking on to, click on that, and you'll lock on to the same target; and finally you can use the chat to lock on, be it the battle chat for enemies, or any other for players if you ever what to find who is talking if they're close by, it's a bit slow, but it's there.
    Currently I'm playing as a Thaumaturge (only just got to Black Mage), and I can easily forgive the lack of skill customization from how fun it is to play this class. In another dimension where I can spend my skill points to get my desired skills I would probably end up leveling up the same exact skills they give you anyway. I like dealing a lot of damage, I like managing the debuffs on the enemies (mainly Thunder and Sleep), I like balancing my MP usage and recovery with Fire and Ice skills, I like using my skills in specific orders to do more stuff in a shorter time. Soloing some stronger monsters feels like a combination of HP+MP managing with positioning strategies, and fighting on groups combines that with the occasional need to help a healer or fellow DPS, so you always need to keep looking to the whole scenario at all times.
    Watching high level gameplay for this game used to overwhelm me by making me think "I'll never remember/use half of these skills", but the skills are very balanced and simple to understand that's it's easy to know when to use them. For example: Fire I deals more damage than Fire II and uses less MP, but it only hits a single target, as opposed to the big MP drain of Fire II with it's useful AoE damage.
    All of this might change at higher levels, remember that I'm only level 30 atm and the Free Trial level cap is 35. I'm the kind of person that has fun fiddling with the target system, so take it with a good pound of salt. Half of my time playing it wasn't even combat or Main Scenario focused, rather I spent good chunk of my time crafting stuff (the crafting minigame is also pretty fun imo, though you can put it on auto-mode after a few levels with worse results if you want), doing a bunch of minigames and gambling in-game currency at a casino, and collecting cards for beating NPCs at Triple Triad.
    Don't think I'll buy the game right now as studies and real life does exists, but I do want to put my hands on every piece of content this game has to offer as soon as I have enough free time. For now I'll keep playing the Free Trial. If you're intersted, my character's name is Hambina Bobs, and I'm playing on the Sargatanas server. I can't respond private messages, one of the unfortunate Free Trial limitations, but I'm enlisted as a Novice on the Novice Network, a very cool program in which veterans on the game can help out newer players however they see fit.

    Hey guys, completely new to the game. Thank you all for the content and great community .
    Is it possible to always be with a friend through all of the content considering you both start out in the starter city together? I like the idea of the deep storylines but I don’t want to want to be walled off from a friend or two if we all want to progress together as a duo or trio through the whole thing.
    I can’t seem to find if this is even possible or not.

    • @Work2Game
      @Work2Game  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s possible but not always easy. Outside the dungeons, the main game is primarily a multiplayer game. So it’s a tough balance. If you play together you’ll have fun, but if you get a few expansions ahead they’ll ether need to jump potion or will have to grind the story to catch up to you. The endgame is where the multiplayer aspect really shines

    The comment you made about people changing jobs around level 30-49 is 100% accurate. I have a couple friends who could not get into this game, and I noticed they were just switching jobs so much they never unlocked anything. And I mean ANYTHING! 😑 So they found themselves in the "black hole" that you mentioned because they literally had next to no content unlocked. Now some of those friends have returned because of rave reviews for Shadowbringers and I just tell them to cap a class and stick to MSQ and that it gets better. So much better. One has listened to me so far and is now getting into this game and it's lore. Another is still struggling. 😂 He is also struggling with the slog through ARR to Heavensward which again you mentioned is hard for a lot of players to get through. I however am very much into lore so the slog didn't really bother me. Arriving to Heavensward felt amazing, but I never regretted taking my time with MSQ. Great video! 👌

    I figured I'd ask this on your most recent video since it might get an answer - I'm looking for advice on how to manage my time within the game or how to really get things done with the time I can allocate to playing. I currently work 70hr weeks, and I feel like I'm getting extremely minimal returns if any, for the time I can spend in game. I only have about an hour at most per day during the week if I'm being generous, and that's barely enough to get a roulette done after wait times. I've done my best to keep up with my friends but they easily surpassed me and went on to clear and farm their extremes while I just finished the msq and got into practice. I feel like they're always beyond my reach to play with and I never want to hold them back from enjoying themselves. But I definitely envy them at times, for sure.
    It was like this during stormblood too, and I've somewhat just given up on that type of content despite not enjoying the gathering and crafting aspect of the game either.
    It's 100% fair for them to leave me out of content progression and such because I barely have time for it, and I completely understand.
    I want to be able to play with them and do extreme/savage content but it always feels beyond my reach. By the time I get to clear things and want to farm it, the game has already moved on to bigger and better things

    • @Work2Game
      @Work2Game  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're able to play with someone when you can play, that way you don't have to wait in a queue, that would be ideal, otherwise, unless you get more free time, just find joy in crafting/gathering and doing whatever you can to reduce your wait time for content because that's what's the most killer. :(

    Thanks for guide. I have been watching your other videos as well. I learned something new this time. I played back in ARR, and got a bard to 50, and dabbled in quite a few other jobs. I quit because I got annoyed that on my screen I would be out of the 1 shot mechanic, but would still die. It was too frustrating. I started back on May 3rd, but still max job is 50, as I am still not sure which class I want to level up. Have Bard, Dragoon, and Ninja at 50 now. Have a 30 summonr and Black mage, and taking Pugilist to 30 now. I was able to re-confirm that caster classes are not for me. I like the instant use skills like melee classes and Bard. I need to get into HW so I can open up Machinist. My problem right now is no one job is really clicking with me. I used to enjoy tanking in WoW, but I am turning 50 this year, and I feel I am just too slow now as even as dps I am always lagging behind the group. Everyone wants to get through dungeons ASAP, so its prob not for me, unless I can get a static to level my tank jobs with.

    In response to the "just get to cap" thing, I would like to share my own experience with something similar. I'm new to FFXIV, and this experience is from WoW, but I think it still applies.
    Back when I hadn't any experience with MMOs my friends wanted me to start playing WoW with them. And they kept insisting that the game good good at the end game, and so kept pushing for me to level up as fast as possible. That made me not enjoy the leveling process, because it felt stressful and it felt like I was not allowed to enjoy the game at the moment. When I did finally reach the end game, I honestly didn't enjoy it. Raids and most of the other end game content in WoW is just not the kind of gameplay I enjoy, and I have leveled other characters in WoW since, taking my time, enjoying questing and exploring the world at my own pace, and basically just liked the entire process.
    Now, since I haven't reached any caps in FFXIV (I'm only level 25 on my highest job), I can't say if I'll enjoy the FFXIV end game or not, although from what I've heard, there does seem to be quite a bit of content that fits with my taste. But I'm in no rush to get there, because even though I've already had a game subscription for a month and a half, I'm still enjoying myself, even though I'm nowhere near any cap. I'm basically leveling all jobs simultaneously and making sure to do all the quests I can find for my current level. You know, getting the full experience of the low levels and all the content in this stage.
    My point is, people have different tastes in content that they enjoy, and sure, a typical MMO player will probably find a lot of the early content not to their taste. But if anyone reads this, and they keep hearing "just get to cap", please evaluate with yourself if you need to stress about it. You can get to cap at your own pace and enjoy it, and then just get excited for any new fresh content you unlock at a cap. Again, this message is mostly for people who feel pressured or rushed by their friends, since I don't want them to have a similarly unpleasant experience

    • @deensama7718
      @deensama7718 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think he touched on a different reason to get to at least "a" cap (namely 50) but didn't elaborate on it much. the reason is the "black hole" that he mentioned. if you level all of your jobs up to 30ish or so without getting at least one to that 50 cap you will have run out of a lot of stuff to do that helps you level naturally up to 50 and beyond. this means you'll have to eek out those last 20 levels by grinding, which most players agree really, really sucks. i get that not everyone wants to rush end game (i'm personally a hardcore endgame player but when i first start an MMO i always take the levelling process slow as well), but this advice is relevant to those who want to stop and smell the roses too because grinding for 20 levels, and critically 20 levels which take much longer than the 30 that preceded them, causes a LOOOOT of players to burn out because they've already done most of the content until cap

    • @deensama7718
      @deensama7718 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      do keep in mind that even if you cap 50 you can always go back and smell the roses on all of the other jobs and have more content to sniff to boot. the only downside in my experience has to do with neuroticism (i know because i struggle a lot with this) and feeling like by going too fast you're "missing out". because of the nature of the game (where you can level all jobs on 1 char) you aren't ever actually missing out, that content will be waiting there for a different job

    • @KlausiboyZ
      @KlausiboyZ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deensama7718 yeah, but the main point I wanted to make was that I just generally didn't like feeling pressured to get to a certain point. I'd rather not stress out about not getting there fast enough. Especially considering I have a job, so barely any free time to play on week days. If I had to spend that free time feeling stressed about being slow, I'd crack, as I'm already stressing about not meeting deadlines at work.
      Also, I'm a weirdo and I'm leveling all my jobs simultaniously. So technically I won't really have other jobs to explore the content I missed, but on the other hand I probably won't be missing any content, considering how "few" quests there are for someone like me.
      But yeah, it's a real fair point regarding other players, it just doesn't really apply to me and is kinda besides the point I wanted to make

      @amelphist2265 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You misunderstand. He said "get to 80", but not because of the end content (although shadowbringers is amazing). It's because of the benefit for leveling other jobs. The game IS good and fun at any level and nearly every bit of content like dungeons and raids are in some form relevant even at max level through daily roulette, it's just a bit rough until 50 content wise and maybe a bit slow in combat. Look at the history of the game and where it came from. I do hope that they will find a way in the future to improve on ARR (2.x) for new players. This is the main thing that is holding this game back from growing imo. Also this is not an excuse but an explanation.

    Just started playing a few days ago and I had the issue of not knowing what class and wanting to try them all a bit.
    I decided to just stick with Dragoon and I've just hit 40 and I'm enjoying it. Not 100% if I want to play it at max level or not but for now I'm sticking with it.
    I'll be honest, Samurai at 50 does tempt me a bit though as it won't really slow me down because it starts at 50 too.
    Story has been pretty alright. I generally watch and read the main story stuff and often skip the dialogue on side quests.
    I got a bit ahead of the level for the main story though so I've taken a break on side quests for the most part, but I make sure to leveling roulette each day.

    @Brian and Work to game. Loved the video and agree with it 110% However, I feel the #1 thing to ME and many I see come in the game new is finding a good and helpful free company. To get feedback on jobs, to get that social and friends bonds mmo's are built on, and to be able to game with like minded people and learn their jobs in a fun safe way with guild mates. So many I know first hand never even stumble upon the mentor linkshell's and such and do not understand how getting into the RIGHT guild (free company) for THAT player will make the game so much easier, more fun, and add those things that make the game so much more enjoyable on every level. Might you Brian or work to game go over how to look for a proper free company, or do you guys run your own? I want to again thank you for all the fun and knowledge this video had. I haven't found any video that really explains the basics of this game from level 1 to level 15. I'm currently level 9 and have no idea how to use the spells I have because everyone just whips through this information. I've read the tips given by the game but it isn't registering in my brain.
    My answer to the problem, as a mage in training, has been to cast the first spell I was given, then hit the second spell two times in a row, then the first spell, rinse and repeat as needed. But there is a switch spell, that isn't explained, and then a 3rd damage spell that seems to be a DoT, so I throw that in if my quest mob is near my level and I don't think casting the first spell, second spell (2x) and then the first spell again will kill the mob.
    Then, while doing the beginner quests, I entered the circled area, which had a mob in it others were killing, and that seemed to give me some extra credit. But the next time I saw a circle, I could only find regular mobs in the circle and killing them didn't seem to do anything special so I'm not sure what that was about.
    Then I came upon some sort of special quest giver who needed help killing mobs. I accepted the quest and all of a sudden mobs started popping all around me. I killed what I could before dying from having no MP(?) left. I don't remember anything telling me I should stop casting spells if that was running out.
    (I'm not familiar with the terms used in FFXIV yet so forgive me if I get them wrong).
    I've played EQ, and then EQ2 for 20 years along with shorter stints playing WoW, LotRO, and DAoC, among others (usually a few years each while also playing EQ games). I had absolutely no problems figuring out how to play any of these other games without needing to watch TH-cam videos.
    I can't say the same for FFXIV and I don't know what the difference is, between the learning curve on these games, except I haven't found a written guide to take me step-by-step through leveling from 1-15, then 15-30, and so on. I haven't even found anything that explains what the various bars, shown on the screen are, or what changes in them mean to my character.
    And although I have collected some clothing, from quests, I have no idea how to put it on so it is just sitting somewhere in my inventory as nothing has come up to tell me how to use things from my inventory such as food, potions, weapons, clothing, etc.
    I started ESO, and FFXIV, at the same time, and I've already figured out all these things on ESO (I'm trying to decide which game to play). It is possible that there are good written or video guides out there but neither Google, nor TH-cam, has revealed them through searches.
    I really prefer FFXIV, to ESO, as find the form of game play easier plus I like the graphics better. But I find FFXIV far more confusing for beginning players despite the tutorials offered. I couldn't even get on the forums to see if there were guides that could help me there. That was another first for me but maybe it is because I'm just playing the trial version of the program and they are trying to keep trolls off the forum.
    Anyway, these are the things I am finding confusing and frustrating trying to level up my character. I know it is hard for experienced players to develop good user guides because developing user guides was my job for many years. You have to forget everything you know about the program, which isn't easy to do, and assume the reader (or viewer) is dumb as a stump (and frankly, often is).
    Right now, I fall into the later category lol. But I'm going to keep trying to figure it out as it looks like the game will be worth the effort. But if you get the time, perhaps you could make a video taking each beginning class step-by-step through learning how to use the UI, the spells, deciding between quest reward options, etc.

    I currently have 3 jobs and 1 class that I'm hopping between. I will add more to my collection later, haha. Started out with Gladiator, became Thaumaturge as soon as I could and some time after that went and also became a Lancer. and then finally a Rogue. Currently I have a Paladin at level 37 I believe, Black Mage at level 31, Dragoon at level 32 or 33 and Rogue at level 26 I think. I know this might sound like much, too much perhaps, but to me it's literally what makes the game. I completely understand the mentality of maxing out at least one job before hopping around between a bunch of other jobs but personally I think it adds so much more to the experience by having multiple classes and jobs much, much earlier.
    If this was any other MMO RPG where you are restricted to one class/job per character I would have just chosen the Gladiator/Paladin since I'm mainly a sword guy. HOWEVER, due to FFXIV utilizing the oh so fantastic (and unique) idea of being able to switch between classes/jobs as you see fit I'd personally say that's what the entire game is "all about". You're not "just" one type of character but rather a flexible one capable of mastering various kinds of arts of war.
    My goal ever since I started getting more and more classes was to upgrade each of my four classes into their respective job, then focus mainly on Paladin since that is my main after all. Hopping between them has kept the game fresh for me instead of becoming stale. This game has so much good to offer but this is definitely its biggest strength in my book (it's also what sets it apart from all other MMOs and ultimately what made me try out the game to begin with).
    PS: Started playing only 2 or 3 days after the release of Shadowbringers. I don't regret it one bit but oh man.... I can't even count how many times I've had bloody connection errors and gotten kicked out of the server due to the tremendous amount of people (I assume) playing the new expansion.

    Third time taking up FF XIV.
    First time around heavensward, leveled a bunch of classes to ~30-40. Then stopped because other games/real life.
    Second time, at Stormblood launch. Got SCH to 50, and leveled all crafting/gathering classes to 50. (honestly, had more fun crafting/gathering than leveling up and doing roulettes. ) Was about to start heavensward content, but MH World came out and stuck with.
    Now shadowbringer has me coming back. Hopefully I'll manage to reach level cap to max to start back my crafting. Side objective: Finding a FC for casual PvE in good fun, and/or finally getting into role play, wich I've never found the time to get invested into so far but always have been curious about.

      @@Work2Game Awesome, thank you! i do have a question actually. first off- started playing it, and i really love it, getting used to everything, but so far so good! Thanks to your help of course! Really intrigued with the story line/cut scenes in it. Second- my question is, in wanting to buy the game, for pc version, doesn't it really matter which one you invest in, money wise, for shadowbringers? just curious, and wanting to get an idea on. ^-^

    It is possible to get DRK, MCH and AST before finishing ARR but you have to buy the Job boosts, it's not perfect as not many people would be willing to pay real money for those jobs, but it is an option for those who REALLY don't want to slug through ARR and the content patches just to get to the jobs they actually want to play. Another thing that's neat is for players who want to try themselves at healing and go CNJ to get WHM, when you're at the point where you can do the quest to get WHM you also get a side quest to get a unicorn mount. It's nothing big but it is a nice little reward for your efforts at trying a healing class!

    Great video! Helped me to clarify some things I'm worried about before jumping into the game. 9/10 should have used a Viera to show off the classes
