    Top up the Top! 😁 Great to see you Will. I would discus my findings with the customer and leave it up to him. I would be comfortable with topping up the fluid to see how long that would last.

      Hey Diagnose Dan! 😀 It’s Great to see you as well, thanks for taking the time. He has agreed as well, time will now be the ultimate deciding factor

    I would ask what the customer wants to do. Make sure to be clear that they understand you don't guarantee how long it will remain operational. Sometimes the parts become obsolete for the convertible tops as well. Take a good photo of what you found on the cylinders so they can see and judge for themselves.

      Solid advice Mike thank you! Talked with the owner and this car has been in the family since new. He can’t recall ever the fluid checked. This will most like be how we proceed. Nice heart how othered deal with this

    My guess is the owners have never checked the fluid level and (as you say) just a slow leak over a long period of time. Nice work.

      Great point . This has been in their family since new, and the owner can’t recall any prior

    I got lots of relief watching this video.. unfortunately I was ripped off. I drive a 2005 Ford Thunderbird convertible and my automatic convertible top stoped working all of a sudden lol. One of the car repair guys told me that a fuse was blown out and that he also needed to buy a new little motor and fuse and charged me 300 dollars. When in reality, it was out of dexron fuel.

    Great vid, my exact situation going on right now! Have a 2003 Stang with the roof moving slower and slower, everything seems to be working otherwise, so I'll top the motor off and see how that works and for how long!

    All cylinders leak some to lube the shaft and seals. If they have never added any to it, it's most likely just normal and not an actual leak. So yes, top it off and SHIP IT.

    I have a 2000 Firebird convertible, the same thing is happening to mine, so I'm gonna take your advice and pull everything apart. Check the fluid and I will add fluid and then order the Parts needed

    This was helpful, thanks. Pretty sure I have the same problem going on, but unfortunately, mine is a Nissan Cross Cabriolet and I don't believe you can top off the fluid. According to the service manual the hydraulic system is self-contained and no way to add fluid.

    I'd give the customer option Z, fabricate a larger reservoir and tell them to operate the top several times during winter so they have free rust proofing.

      Heck yeah lol 😅 I’m going to state this on the report “be thankful the rest of these are rusted out, let it be”

    Will the motor make any noise? Or if no noise is it the relays?

    Hi, I have a 2010 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The wiring harness was held up by electrical tape by the previous owner and by putting the top up and down, it got pinched and cut a couple of wires. I've been having issues with the driver side window not going all the way up and the top stopping Midstream when going up and down. I've been searching high and low for a wire harness diagram with no luck. Would you have any idea where I might find one to know which wire's do what? Thanks so much!

    Why bother reading the label if you weren't going to use the correct fluid?

    • @robinsonsauto
      @robinsonsauto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dex 2 or equivalent. not all fluids are dyed. It’s become a standard in later years when used as ATF for identification. Dyed would work just fine as well. You will find the OE fluid in these is not red. I’m assuming that’s why you made the statement

    • @justforkiks29
      @justforkiks29 ปีที่แล้ว

      @robinsonsauto Never seen non dyed fluid. Only fluid I've seen that color is hydraulic fluid.
