I feel like I should clarify that MittenSquad does do more than give a play-by-play -- he's a funny dude with lot of rich, dry humor. It's just that personally his format doesn't hold my interest as well. That's not a dig on him as a creator - just a useful contrast to get my point across
What's really weird is binging his VODs for a few days, then watching a normal streamer and interacting with their chat. Seriously, its almost like none of them are divorced or locked in a basement.
It's funny, I watch some of Doug's vods but don't join the actual streams typically, so I feel more like I've hacked into the CCTV cameras of a guy with a bunch of people in his basement.
There is something satisfying about when Doug plays it straight, but it's also so entertaining when he subverts it. Poob and Skyrim with 1 hit point are some of his funniest videos for sure.
Honestly a really good walk down memory lane. I still remember back when Doug was streaming to 300 people and only just started blowing up on TH-cam. Really good video! Keep up the good work!
DougDoug has come so far and you captured the beauty of his channel. I really hope he sees this wonderfully put together video that you have constructed
Thanks! It would be cool if he sees it honestly but I'm not counting on it. It means a lot that people seem to like this video and the other one I posted before this. Hope I can keep it up lol
My problem with gaming challenges in general is that it usually a matter of finding one singular answer to the problem. How do you beat [Insert any platformer game here] without jumping? Simple, find an alternative to jumping. Once you realize that that is all the innovation the challenge inspires, and that the answer to every problem the challenge poses is that new tactic, it gets boring again. Unless ive played the game before and know that there's a specific part of the game that will be challenging again, i close the video. And so if its for a game I've never played before, if one tactic is used for a majority of the early game, im likely to tune out. DougDoug always has a captivating way of presenting his content, and its different enough between VOD form and video form for me to watch both
I think Doug cripples so many of the basic game mechanics that he has to evolve upon his basic strategy a lot, and pacing-wise it helps that he's able to condense each obstacle into a quick plot point in a larger story.
@@Professor-Preston that too. I watched his crossing Hyrule in a straight line stream last night and he stuck to the challenge much stricter than most, and imposed extra restrictions, all so that he had to find a new solution to each problem
I’m not entirely sure how I stumbled upon this video… I was fighting my ex-wife after our fifth divorce, and fell down the darkness in my closet. I was sure I had found a way out of the basement but ended up here.
This is actually an awesome analysis, and great presentation! On another subject, have you watched the pajama sam saga? It is dougs best video yet, and the second best on youtube ive watched
Honestly I've been meaning to but the new extra long videos he's putting out are a bit intimidating. Maybe this weekend I'll try to catch back up with the Doug Lore.
I think it’s probably best not to name drop specific channels if your talking negatively about them unless you actually have gripe with them. Probably best to mention what many people do and maybe even have footage referencing a specific channel. I just always think bad talking and to single out a specific channel is going to limit the growth of the video. Anyways good video, but I don’t think there was a single inside joke (apart from maybe the opening poem). Which is fine, it’s just a big thing about the channel.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I did try to give some credit to Mitten and made a comment clarifying, but it probably would've been better to not name them at all in hindsight. As for the inside jokes, I was already behind on the video and desperately wanted to finish it. I wasn't sure where to add a "rigged" or a basement or divorce talk. I thought about dedicating a segment to the in jokes but like I said I was already super behind. I think if this video sends anyone Doug's way, they'll catch on pretty quick.

The derailing into stuff that has nothing to do with the original premise is my favorite part of DougDoug videos and streams

THATS MY FUCKING PROFESSOR!
FUCK YEAH DUDE WOOOO

Yeah, it's been a lot of fun watching Doug grow over the years!
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! That means a lot to me!

found me a hidden gem, looking forward to what you do next!
Thank you so much! I'm hoping to get out at least one more video this month!

Wow, this guy is way more interesting than my actual college professors!
Ha! Take that qualified people!
Rip mitten squad
Yeahhh I didn't have to do him like that. Maybe I'll do a video celebrating his strengths someday.

this is good, you nailed it

Nice video! Also I like how your art style looks.
Thanks! It's kinda scrappy but I think that's part of what's good about it.
I liket it ^ ^
Thanks! I appreciate that!
@DougDoug this is real good
Oh my gosh thanks!
@@Professor-Preston also did u know it's Rosa's birthday week next week soon
Oh I didn't! That's really good to know! Hope Doug makes a video of it!
@@Professor-Preston it's gonna be a stream event you should tune in!
Maybe I will!
I'm also excited for the 5th anniversary of his relaunch this labor day
