This upbeat version of "The Sound Of Music" IS THE BEST! I seriously love it! To know that she had to step out of her comfort zone for that number alone is what makes it all the more special, since that was something she often struggled with. Her voice was beautiful as always. Simply wonderful!
These songs were taken from a TV special saluting the late British impresario Lord Grade, head of the Associated Television Corp. and it's subsidiary ITC Entertainment. Julie is great as always, and the duet with Sir Tom is wonderful. (ITC co-produced Julie's early-70s TV variety series, and ATV took control of the Beatles' music-publishing company in the late 60s.)
I love the arrangement done for Julie for her medley....and again Oh, that voice...such a soothing rendition of "If". such shows are cakewalk for Julie and yet she sings with so much heart, one can see Julie trying to cover for Tom, tho his solo act was good, he seems to be struggling here with Julie.
@@TheJulieAndrewsArchive He is singing her song in her key and at a significantly lower volume so as not to drown her out. I would think that would be a struggle,
Jones seems a tad uncomfortable here, a little too worried about who he is singing with. She has done duets with half of Hollywood by this point, including such operatic voices as Jackie Gleason, Alice Ghostley, and Kermit the Frog,. He can relax.

@@TheJulieAndrewsArchive yep. Julie had the melody and him probably the descant or harmony but i get it, its tough. Julie was trying to help him out I could see her try, she was on point however with her melody. Impossible to find her missing a note or making an error.
had she sung it at that tempo in the film she would have made it back to the covent with time to spare...jeezes..did she borrow that arrangment from Robert Goulet's Vegas act?🤣
Ironically, both Julie and Tom would later undergo the ‘scrape surgery’ on their vocal chords. Julie would never sing again. Tom is still singing, maybe better than ever, at 82.
@@HercGem I wondered why he was singing the same notes as Julie. I think thats why she smacks him at the end HAHAH.What else did he say about this particular evening about Julie?

The Welsh Dragon and the English Rose. Wonderful!!
recuerda a algo maravilloso.-¡QueNUNCA TE PASE NADA MALO.AMADA JULY ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😮😮
The duet is beautiful! I think the power house Tom Jones did sing more quietly to let Julie's voice shine. What a gentleman!
The incomparable, magnificent Julie Andrews and the magnetiic Tom Jones, what a wonderful show!
Such positive and electrifying vibes!!! Both Julie and Tom performed together fantastically! 🤗🥰
To have the privilege of singing alongside Julie Andrews?
Tom Jones is the luckiest man alive!
Julie Andrews is pretty darn lucky too! 😜

Sir Tom Jones And Dame Julie Andrews My Two Favorite People!
Bravooooooo,wonderful Julie
Lighting (and her voice, come to think of it) very reminiscent of "Whistling away the dark" from "Darling Lili".

AHA! caught his mistake lol...at 8:46 min mark, Tom Jones...says oops thats the Melody and Julie is like mhm...so cute.
Oh, is that what he said? He clearly messed up, but both recovered nicely.

He is sweating all over poor Julie. lol.
He seemed like having a tough time singing anyway. She’s definitely trying to cover laughing, no?
Tom recalled,in his autobiography, that he forgot the chord change and felt like he had screwed up. I think he handled it quite nicely!
@@HercGem I wondered why he was singing the same notes as Julie. I think thats why she smacks him at the end HAHAH.What else did he say about this particular evening about Julie?

@@Shamsithaca nothing cocky about tom...he has great respect for her
The disco music version of the Sound of Music, ruined her lovely vocal. Who thought that was cool?
The 1970s
@@TheJulieAndrewsArchive Sad times, I was in high school. Julie Andrews wasn't a disco ball girl. They shoulda left that to ABBA.
Sorry but this was very boring
