P&O Azura Cruise vlog #2... Bari , Alberobello , Sindhu

- So our first port of call on this 7 night cruise was to be Bari in Italy .This was a rescheduled port from the time when we first booked the cruise .
We had a P&O Excursion booked , visiting the town of Alberobello approximately 75 minutes drive from the port . Alberobello has a Unesco World Heritage status . It is famed for its Trulli ,whitewashed stone huts with conical shaped roofs .It is described as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy . Because of the length of time getting to the village we felt the Excursion could have been longer , so that we could have had more free time to explore .
That evening we had booked Sindhu , the onboard Indian restaurant . A very nice setting and quite a large restaurant . Our food was nice and hot but I chose the wrong option for my main course so was a little disappointed .
In the theatre that evening was Peter Howarth the Lead singer from the Hollies . What a great performer with a fantastic voice , he sang all the old classic Hollies hits including AIR THAT I BREATHE , and HE AINT HEAVY.
Later that evening we set sail for Split in Croatia

This vlog was hilarious, especially when you said about the excess baggage for your eyes! I wasn’t expecting that! 😂
The singer Peter Howarth sounded absolutely amazing, we would definitely go and see him if we ever came across him, he really hasn’t lost his voice and we do like a bit of Roy Orbison.
Pearl made me howl when she said sit out on the “balcs”, that I cannot wait to say when we board!! 😂😂

Hi Al , hope you are well and have a bit of sunshine where you are . I think late nights, early mornings and Pearl plying me with too much alcohol was the reason for the bags 🤪. Peter Howarth was brilliant, very relaxed and made it look effortless, plus a great voice . I don’t know where Pearl gets her terminology from, sounds a bit Towie to me 😂 . clootie dumpling is a scottish pudding very like a suet pudding, but mainly cooked for halloween. Married to a scotsman, he makes the most amazing clootie dumpling. Hope you enjoyed it x

Another excellent episode, the place you visited looked lovely, seen it in lots of photos and would like to go. Sorry Brian you didn’t get your ice cream, we encountered the ticket system in Milan, we were in a massive queue forever and suddenly spotted people were holding tickets, we thought they were on an excursion and had a free ice cream voucher or something but no, you had to queue to get a ticket and then queue to get the ice cream 🍦They need to put a sign up for tourists not familiar with the system 🥺 We have heard of the Clootie Pudding, it’s a Scotch treat, My Grandfather was Scottish and we lived in Newcastle which was not far from the border so we were frequent visitors. That was a little different. My daughter-in-law's family comes from Italy and they were there a year ago to visit family. I liked that last entertainer you saw. He has a good voice, and sung some good songs. This week we are getting some spring weather. Next week summer is supposed thit hard. Hope all is well there, we are fine here.
Good Morning Rene , Italy certainly is a beautiful country. Alberobello was great but we would have preferred some more free time to look around .We thought you might like Peter Howarth, he is the singer in a British sixties band called the Hollies. Lots of people have commented on his performance. Oh dear sounds like the A/C is going on again next week. Our weather is quite cool actually 18 centigrade, it’s supposed to be summer 😩. Clootie means cloth like muslin. It’s steamed pudding in a cloth,very Scottish 🏴. You make me laugh you two. Pearl looked lovely,just like a pearly queen in her outfit. Looks like you both have had some fab cruises. ❤

Hi Senseicads , thank you . We had a lot of fun on Azure but you can’t hide from the fact that it is looking a bit tired in places. Some of the furniture in our room looked like it had seen better days . And parts of the buffet looked like it could do with a makeover. Saying that it didn’t detract from us having a good time . I think it goes in for a refit this year . We originally chose the ship because of the itinerary. I know all about the bread and butter pudding it’s one of the best . The male singer sounded awesome, good enough to still be touring.
The trip looked good but hectic, im dreading the trip in September to Pisa & Florence, 10 hours in total and you just know its going to be manic.
The story with the guide and the bus driver was hilarious.

Hi Pearl and Brian, great vlog as always. We've always found in Italy that the excursions involve lots of coach travel with a short amount of time at the final destination. Shame because Alberobello is a place we'd love to go to (especially Paula), we'll make it there one day (with a long coach trip 😀). Paula said to tell Pearl that she's not the only one to not get on with those headphones, not turning the volume up is soooo Paula. 😄 Looking forward to part 3, all the best, Chris and Paula.
Hi Chris & Paula hope you are both doing ok . I know what you mean about the journey times in Italy . We went to Florence on one cruise, it seemed like it took a couple of days to get there . To be honest I had never heard of Alberobello before we went on this cruise, apart from what I watched on the TV . Could have done with a bit more Free time .
